Über den Fotografen

José Alejandro Alvarez José Alejandro Alvarez wurde in Santiago (Dominikanische Republik) geboren. Derzeit lebt er in Santo Domingo und arbeitet als Spediteur, um seine Alter‐Ego Existenz als Unterwasserfotograf zu finanzieren. Seit 1996 verbindet er seine Leidenschaft für den Tauchsport mit seinen kreativen Fähigkeiten und beschäftigt sich verstärkt mit Unterwasserfotografie. Seither hat er einige der schönsten Orte auf diesem Planeten erforscht. Spektakuläre Höhepunkte sind die Cocos‐Inseln, Fidschi, die Malpelo Insel, Neuseeland, der Golf von Kalifornien, Südafrika und natürlich Galapagos. Alvarez ist Mitglied von Organisationen, die dem Schutz der Meeresökosysteme in der Dominikanischen Republik dienen. Mit seinen Bildern versucht er, das Bewusstsein für die Bedeutung einer solchen lebenswichtigen Ressourcen zu bewahren erhöhen. Darüber hinaus ist er Gründungsmitglied der Fundacion Espeleobuceo Hispaniola und Mitglied des Vorstands von Reef Check Dominican Republic. Außerdem ist er Autor des Buches "Mar Azul" und Co‐Autor des Buches "Cuevas de la Republica Sumergidas Dominicana".
