located under every image that can be
ordered in IDEAL format. The factor will
enable you to calculate the dimensions
you want your picture to have, whilst
ensuring that the height and width remain
proportional to its original size.

Neben der freien Malerei war der Kupferstich
Ausbildungsschwerpunkt Karol Baks.
˛ Die Exaktheit und Geduld, welche jene Technik vom
Künstler abverlangt, spürt man besonders bei
seinen Figurendarstellungen. Bei den Kompositionen von Bak
˛ ist das Zusammenspiel von
künstlerischer Vorstellungskraft und Können
fühlbar. Dies wird vor allem bei scheinbar nebensächlichen Aspekten offensichtlich: So gibt
das Zusammenspiel der stark konturierten Umrisslinien der Figuren mit der tiefgestaffelten
Weite des Hintergrunds dem Bild eine subtile
Ausdruckskraft, welche die Wirkung des mit viel
Liebe zum Detail modellierten Frauenkörpers
besonders betont.
Leidenschaft und Spontaneität
Für Véronique Ball ist die Malerei ein Dialog
zwischen Wille und Zufall. Es ist nicht die ungebremste Leidenschaft allein, die hier zum
Zuge kommt. Ebenso wie durch diese werden
die eindrucksvollen Kompositionen durch ihr
geschultes Auge und durch die handwerkliche Erfahrung bestimmt. Das Zusammenspiel
von explosionsartigen, nach außen wirkenden
Impulsen und von nach innen gerichteten Intentionen gibt den Bildern der Künstlerin eine
besondere Spannung. Von ganz wesentlicher
Bedeutung ist dabei der innere Rhythmus, der
sehr authentisch erscheint.
Kalligraphische Kompositionen
Helen Abbas ist eine renommierte Designerin
aus Damaskus, die heute in Dubai lebt. Sie ist
in der Tradition der islamischen Kunst aufgewachsen, die bekanntermaßen nicht figurativ
geprägt ist. Das Hauptgebiet, auf dem sich
dort die Kunst entwickelte, ist die Kalligraphie und diese Kunst beherrscht Abbas bis zur
Perfektion. Durch neuartige Überlagerungen
unterschiedlicher arabischer Schriftsysteme
und unter Einbeziehung von ungewöhnlichen
Abstraktionen verdichtet sie die Zeichen zu abstrakten Gebilden, die schwerelos durch einen
lichtdurchfluteten Raum schweben.

known for being figurative in character. The
primary area in which art developed in this
tradition is that of calligraphy, which Abbas
masters to perfection. Through the innovative
overlapping of different Arabic writing systems
and the incorporation of unusual abstractions,
this artist compresses the characters into abstract forms that float effortlessly through a
space awash with light.

Artistic Imagination and Ability

his pictures of figures. In Bak’s

there is an evident interplay between artistic
imagination and ability. This is particularly visible in seemingly accidental aspects. Thus the
interplay between the heavy outlines of the
figures’ contours and the tiered depths of the
expanses in the picture’s background gives a
subtle expressiveness. This expressiveness particularly highlights the female bodies, modelled
with great attention to detail.

Graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts
in 1976 under the name of Cartonnier-Lissier,
Pascal Magis spent many years designing tapestry, through which he earned a reputation.
In 1984 he decided to return to his first love:
painting. In his abstract compositions raw
colours dominate. Red, blue and yellow intermingle, leaping from the heart of the canvas,
drawn along by the artist’s powerful strokes.
Movement, energetic strokes and a lively palette characterise Pascal Magis’ work, which is
now famous around the world.

The British illustrator Lorrie McFaul uses her
pen as a wand to create a magical world peopled with waif-like fairies. Under the shining,
candy-coloured sun, delicate beings flit and
prance through this magical kingdom, taking

the same family, each figure is an individual
and expresses its personal style with clothes,
gestures and body language.

After completing her studies at the art university in Amsterdam, Kitty Meijering dedicated
herself to paintings of dance. The figures she
paints seem entirely lost in motion. In dance,
she has found a way of fusing abstract painting

stages of movement is seamless. This grace is
only possible by means of the artist’s excellent
attention to the most insignificant details. The
elegance of the figures she paints express her
intuitive sense of harmony and shape.
Like a Living Organism
MN.FF creates a whole with an expressive collage never seen outside art. It shows off the
multiple experiences he has had with a wide
range of art techniques. In 2003, he got to photography which is the foundation of his new
work. After a series of proofs, he created a very
definite new type of image. The big cities like
New York and Paris appear differently through
his intuitive and subjective attitude. Different
perspectives are dissolved and linked together
like pulsing organisms attracting the viewer
with magical strength in its centre.

Spuren der Vergänglichkeit
Das Bildformat spielt bei den neuen Arbeiten von Rose Richter-Armgart eine besondere
Rolle. Diese Aussage wird vor allem durch die
schlanken Hochformate belegt, bei denen die
vielschichtig aufgetragene Farbe einen dreidimensionalen Eindruck suggeriert. Durch diese
transparent aufgelegten Farbschichten wirken
diese flächig angelegten Kompositionen wie
Stelen. Verstärkt wird dieser Eindruck durch
Blattgold bzw. -silber und durch rudimentäre
Zeichnungsreste. Auf diese Art und Weise entstehen sprechende Oberflächen, die aufgeraut
wirken, so als hätte hier die Zeit ihren Niederschlag gefunden.
Schwebende Formen
Die Farben und Formen in den Bildern der
Malerin Mechtild Runde-Witjes scheinen frei
im Raum zu schweben. Weit über die Formatgrenze des Bildes hinaus spannt sich das Netz
aus temperamentvoll gesetzten Linien. Diese
graphischen Strukturen schränken die Wirkung
der leuchtenden Farben nicht ein, sondern bilden einen Kontrast, der die Farbkraft verstärkt.
Durch das anmutige Leuchten der Farbe fühlt

Traces of Transience
The format of the picture plays a special role
in the new works by Rose Richter-Armgart.
This statement is proven by the narrow portrait format, on which the numerous layers
of colour create a three-dimensional impression. The transparent layers of colours make
these 2-dimensional compositions seem like
steles. This impression is further emphasised
by the use of gold and silver leaf, and by the
residues of rudimentary drawings. In this way,
expressive surfaces develop that almost seem
to have a nap, as if time itself found expression
in these works.
Floating Shapes
The colours and shapes in the paintings of
Mechtild Runde-Witjes seem to float freely in
space. The net of energetically applied lines
stretches far beyond the confines of the picture
itself. These graphic structures do not limit the
effect of the vibrant colours, but rather create
a contrast that intensifies the colour force. The
gentle illumination of the colours makes the
viewer feel that he is making an emotional
connection with the image. The viewer is not
bound to any particular possible interpretation
of the image, however, quite the opposite. In
fact, the compositions challenge the viewer
to find their own connections to the painting,
and to really play a role therein.

an amazingly fresh appeal, thanks to her skilful

The usual dimensions seem to have completely
disappeared. There is neither top nor bottom;

With IG Ideal we have the same high
standards of quality as we do with our
art prints. However it is always possible that there may be colour variations
in comparison with the offset reproductions, catalogue or internet illustrations. The maximum print width is 140
cm (interior dimensions) plus 4 – 6 cm
border. Differences in quality may occur,
depending on the enlargement scale
and the image. This does not give you
grounds for rejecting a print.

Breite und 80 cm auf die Höhe. Standardmaße sind durch blaue Artikelnummern gekennzeichnet.
The unit of measurement is always listed
in the order width × height. For example: the size 60 × 80 cm means 60 cm is
the width and 80 cm is the height of the
image. A blue article-number means, that
this poster is a european standard size.
Dans notre supplément les formats
