München, 25. März 2008 – PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), führender Anbieter von Softwarelösungen für die Produktenwicklung, hat mit der normative mechanics GmbH & Co. KG, einem in Gernsheim (Hessen) ansässigen
Konstruktions- und Entwicklungsunternehmen, einen weiteren Kunden gewonnen, der jetzt PTC CoCreate Modeling für sämtliche Konstruktionsprojekte einsetzt. PTC CoCreate Modeling, die explizite 3D-CAD-Software von
PTC, unterstützt normative mechanics dabei, sich in puncto Geschwindigkeit und Reaktionsfähigkeit auf Kundenwünsche vom Mitbewerb abzuheben.
Um die Anforderungen von Kunden abdecken zu können, war normative mechanics auf der Suche nach einer
3D-Konstruktionslösung, die es ihnen erlaubt, neuartige Produkte schnell zu entwickeln und gleichzeitig auf sich
ändernde Kundenanforderungen im gesamten Projektverlauf reagieren zu können. Letztlich entschied sich
normative mechanics für PTC CoCreate Modeling, weil die Bedienung sehr einfach ist und weil neue Ideen
jederzeit sehr schnell durch jeden Konstrukteur in den virtuellen Prototypen eingearbeitet werden können. Diese
Faktoren sind entscheidend, um Produkte schneller auf den Markt zu bringen und die Transparenz für den Kunden
während des gesamten Projektes zu erhöhen.
Der explizite Ansatz für die 3D-Konstruktion von PTC führte zur erfolgreichen Entwicklung eines preisgekrönten
neuen Gerätes. normative mechanics wurde damit beauftragt, ein spezielles, leichtes Multi-Lift-System von Grund
auf zu entwickeln, das sämtliche Mitbewerbsprodukte in den Schatten stellen sollte. Es war außerdem
vorgesehen, dieses Produkt auf einer europäischen Messe vorzustellen. Dank des Einsatzes von PTC CoCreate
Modeling waren die Ingenieure in der Lage, laufend neue Ideen und Informationen im digitalen Prototypen
umzusetzen. Nur einen Monat vor Messebeginn wurde das Antriebssystem zugunsten einer Plug- & PlayTechnologie verworfen. Durch die Möglichkeit, Änderungen in jeder Phase des Entwicklungsprozesses schnell
umzusetzen, gelang es den Entwicklern, ein vereinfachtes geometrisches Modell in PTC CoCreate Modeling zu
importieren und die notwendigen Anpassungen am Lift-System schnell durchzuführen.
Darüber hinaus setzte normative mechanics Zusatzmodule der CoCreate Produktfamilie von PTC ein, um die Logik
der komplexen Entfaltungsmechanismen der Liftkonstruktion zu simulieren, die Herstellbarkeit sicherzustellen und
die Belastung der Strukturen und Schenkelarme zu analysieren. Sämtliche Tests konnten an den virtuellen
Prototypen durchgeführt werden. Das führte dazu, dass die Budgetvorgaben eingehalten und die Entwicklungszeit
um 30-40% verkürzt wurde.

normative mechanics Standardizes On PTC® CoCreate® Modeling For All Customer Projects
Design Firm Achieves Record Development Speed of Innovative, Award-Winning Multi-Lift System
NEEDHAM, MA. – March 18, 2008 - PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the Product Development Company®, today announced that normative mechanics GmbH & Co. KG, a German-based design and development company, has
standardized on CoCreate Modeling for all its design work. CoCreate Modeling, PTC’s explicit 3D CAD software,
helps normative mechanics excel in speed and client responsiveness.
To meet its business requirements, normative mechanics was looking for a 3D design solution that would allow
them to very quickly design new products while incorporating customer feedback throughout the project. Ultimately,
normative mechanics selected CoCreate Modeling for its ease of use and because ideas can be very easily
integrated into the virtual prototype by any designer at any time. These factors help bring products to market faster
and provide a greater level of transparency for the client throughout the project.
PTC’s explicit approach to 3D design most recently brought success to a normative mechanics project with the
development of an award-winning new device. Normative mechanics was given the task of creating, developing,
and debuting at a major European trade show, a unique, lightweight multi-lift system that could out-perform all
systems of it class. Using CoCreate Modeling, engineers were able to continually adapt new ideas and information
into the digital prototype. In fact, just one month to deadline, the proposed drive system of the lift was unexpectedly
rejected in favor of a remote plug & play technology. Given the ability to rapidly change the design at any stage in
product development, engineers were able to easily import a simplified geometric model into CoCreate Modeling
and quickly made the needed adjustments to the lift system.
Additionally, normative mechanics used modules from the CoCreate product family to simulate operation of the
complex unfolding logic and manufacturability of the lift design and to evaluate the stress of the articulation
structures and shank arms. As a result, all testing was done on virtual prototypes. This helped keep the project
on budget and cut development time by 30-40%.
