Ordination Service of Five Cowboy Chaplains conducted by Dr Dave Harvey
Submitted by Rilla Simmons, Reporter Cotton Creek Chapter
On the bluffs above the mighty Missouri River, in Lexington, MO, sets Big River Ranch and Trail Riding Co., owned & operated by Robbie Maupin. Here, during the
weekend of Oct. 10-12, Big River hosted a Breast Cancer Benefit Ride, coordinated by Lorrie Piercy and Teresa Scott. Of special note to COWBOYS FOR CHRIST was the
unique opportunity to conduct both Cowboy Church services AND the Ordination of five Cowboy Chaplains by CFC President, Dr. Dave Harvey on Sunday morning. Dr.
Harvey’s message was on being PREPARED and READY, WATCHING for the LORD’S RETURN and SERVING faithfully and diligently on the trails we ride right now. He
mentioned that since OUR GOD owns the cattle on a thousand hills, lots of riders are needed to gather in the lost and wandering who are in the pastures and trails around
us, to “round-up” men and women for JESUS in advance of the Great Round-Up that is coming when OUR LORD JESUS parts the eastern sky, riding on the Great White
Horse and riding in with all those who have gone before in the FINAL HEAVENLY ROUND-UP of all those who are branded by Jesus and have received Him as LORD AND
SAVIOR, leaving behind those who do not know Him and belong to Him. Wonderful worship music was performed by Kevin Rowe and The Prodigal Sons, a “GospelRockaBilly” country band. Their music is exciting, with lots of full-throttle, upbeat tempos, and full-on harmonies, while preserving and emphasizing the message of JESUS
CHRIST and SALVATION through HIM Alone. They hale from Perrin, TX.
This weekend was certainly a time of fellowship, a time of ministry and a time of confirming the calling and sending of hard-riding soldiers for the CROSS of our LORD
JESUS CHRIST. It was a truly blessed day as five servants who have dedicated their lives to serving the LORD in the Cowboy world were ORDAINED as COWBOY
CHAPLAINS. These new Chaplains are Mike Shane & Mike Stephens, Matt Wagner, Mike Reicherts and Ramsey Steen
Mike Reicherts is from CFC We Will Ride Chapter, Greene, Iowa (all the way up near Waterloo, NE corner). The Reicherts have mules and Mike even has a little mule
that he has trained to do tricks. They are really involved in Trail Ride ministry, but they really go wherever the HOLY SPIRIT leads. They have Cowboy Church at state parks,
trail riding camps and minister at youth camps.
Ramsey Steen is from CFC Valley Hills Bucking Chute Chapter, Akron, Iowa (far NW corner of Iowa, near the SD border). He focuses on rodeo ministry. As a former
bull rider, he really connects with the rodeo folks and can share JESUS in a very personal way, having been where they are, and having experienced much of what they are
experiencing. He is very dedicated to minister to them and wanting to serve the LORD in the cowboy world.
Matt Wagner is from CFC Pony Express Chapter, St. Joe, MO. Matt and Melissa Wagner spend about 3/4 of their weekends throughout the year going where GOD has
called. Whether it is to help host Christian-based events, chuck wagon races, trail rides etc., they share the GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST behind the scenes and
help with cowboy church services as needed through their ministry “GOT JESUS”.
Mike Shane & Mike Stephens, are from CFC CottonCreek Chapter Richmond, MO. They both conduct Cowboy Church services at riding events in the area and as
they “go” fulfill the HOLY SPIRIT’S calling on their lives by proclaiming and serving JESUS CHRIST. Both Mikes are part of the CottonCreek Christian Ministry Outreach
in Ray County. Mike Stephens also pastors the Cowboy Chapel at CottonCreek. Both their wives actively serve in the cowboy ministry with them.
I was so moved by the Scriptures from Isaiah chosen to express the desire and commitment of each of these men to serve the LORD, spread the GOSPEL and serve
others by being willing to be used as CHRIST sees best: WHENEVER, HOWEVER, WHEREVER. GLORY & PRAISE be to GOD. “Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom
should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” (Isa. 6:8, NLT) and “The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the
LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for
the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,…” (Isa. 61: 1-2, NIV)
Please remember them in your prayers. Pray that the Lord will send more servants into the field to sow the WORD OF GOD, more riders to go out into the scrub and brush
to find the lost ones and minister HIS GRACE to all those who are so in need of the LORD’S
MERCY AND SALVATION. Please pray that He will send others to share the trail with them,
supporting them in prayer and in whatever material ways the Lord leads.

Dear Cowboys For Christ,
Can you add the following to your mailing list
for the Christian Ranchman newspaper?
Thank you,
JS, Iowa
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Please forgive me for not sending back your
Bible Studies you’ve so kindly sent to us. I had
given up on God because my 14 year old son died
1 year ago to a drunk driver behind the wheel. My
eyes have been filled with hate, and so much more.
I’ve wanted to kill him myself, and something that
makes things worse; the man got 15 years’
probation for killing my son. I blamed God for
everything in my lift that went wrong. But I had a
dream that God took me to Heaven and God talked
with me, and said, “My child I too know the pains
of the loss of My Son, but I’ve sent my Son out as
a sacrifice to save all of my other children. Why
would I not sacrifice one to save millions? I’ve
called your son Joseph to come and be with me,
so rejoice and be glad for he suffers no more and
you will see him again.”
Since that dream I’ve rededicated my life and
children to His will. Please send me more Bible
Studies and a Bible to study out of. You are doing
a great job for the battle between good and evil.
Dear Dave,
I must be doing something right. It’s taking me
a long time to get the items required for ordination
done and back to you! There’s been a lot of
overtime at my day job and a bunch of work on my
little ranch. But I’m about done and am very excited
about sending it to you. Praise the Lord! Thank
you for your letters and the Christian Ranchman.
God Bless,
TY, Nebraska
Brother Dave,
The papers are here in time for the show
Saturday,
Thank you,
JM in Alabama
Christian Ranchman,
Thank you for sending the paper to us. I believe
this is the 35 th year. We have sent money to
Cowboys For Christ. Keep up the Good Work,
spreading the Gospel to the saved & unsaved alike.
Attn: Whomever,
I am writing to first thank you and relay my
gratefulness for your publication. I have been
recently widowed and your paper is something he
would have truly enjoyed. I don’t have money and
I am still trying to find employment, but I would really
enjoy being on your mailing list and being able to
have this inspiration and memory of my late
husband still. Thank you.
God Bless,
DL, Kansas

Supreme authority over this organization
and all its activities is vested in God's own Son,
the Lord Jesus Christ, and exercised by the
Holy Spirit. This must be recognized and
practiced as laid out for us in God's divinely
inspired Word, the Holy Bible.
Cowboys For Christ is not a substitute for
the local Church or Assembly, nor is it in
competition with any denominational group.
It seeks, rather, through God's enabling grace,
to be a helper to all local churches,
denominations and groups to the extent that
they are in harmony with the will of the
Almighty God. Its function is to proclaim the
Word of God. It is designed for outreach and
building up of the Body of Christ, God's bloodbought people, and in harmony with the work
of the Holy Spirit is an active force in the Lord's
program for the present day.
The message of The Christian Ranchman
is the saving grace of Jesus Christ. These
messages come to us in a variety of
expressions, including testimonies and Letters
to the Editor, and each is meaningful in its own
way. We pray that the Holy Spirit will minister
to each of you that bit of reassurance and
comfort your need today.

Whose Brand do you Ride for
By Poppa Mac ™ 2014 Fallen But forgiven
When you hire on as a hand always ride for the
brand
This is what they said
I have to admit, didn’t always think of the outfit
I did what I wanted instead
Thought it didn’t matter much, iffen I came through
in the clutch
Man was I wrong
Being good and tough, just wasn’t enough
Actually had to belong
It was an uphill climb, but I learned over time
What riding for the brand meant
You need to be loyal for the one that you toil
Cause that’s who you represent
You don’t go out fighting, or your outfit slighting
Rise early and don’t complain
Break you own horse on your time of course
And work even when in pain
I now ride for another, he’s like no other
I’ll ride for him forever
His life was hard and his hands are scarred
He’ll forsake me never
I’ve found my rewards following the lord of lords
He loves me even though I’m flawed
I never cried the day that I died
I now live in God.
I ask once more whose brand to you ride for
With a change in your behavior
No longer to be enslaved you will be saved
By accepting Christ as your savior.

Letter from Terry Rhodes;
To Cowboys For Christ,
Page 3 * THE CHRISTIAN RANCHMAN * Nov / Dec 2014
Greetings; I pray all my brothers and sisters are
all doing well and in the best of health and spirits.
I would like to write a little something for the
Christian Ranchaman.
Hello, you fellow prison inmates, in these Texas
prisons and other states. I am sick of going to
Recreation and hearing about gang talk and who
beat who up. I want to hear some Jesus talk. I am
in Agg. Seg., and I’ve been there for fourteen years
in a little room. Yeah, real hard time, but I got Christ
in my life and he keeps me smiling and full of joy.
Now, fellows I went to rec. one day and all I heard
was prison gossip. Yeah, you-all know what I mean.
So, I said, “hey, any of you men want to talk about
God.” Well, guess what? They all laughed at me,
and a few said, “yeah, right.” Well I said that’s
okay if ya’ll laugh about it. But know I’m here if
you do. Well, a few days go by and men start
asking about Christ, when their so-called homeboys
are not around. So, I pray and ask God to help me
talk to them and teach His Word.
So, this goes on for a while, and I say, “God I
want to start a Bible Study for You at rec.” but I
know that the Warden would not let me bring a
Bible to recreation. God laid it on my heart to do a
Bible Study. Just start talking about His Word, and
men will draw close to Him. So, I did it, and now
we are at rec. learning God loves us, a lot more
than a homeboy does.
So, you cowboys who never let people know
ya’ll are a Christian, step forward and start up
something real at rec., the Word Of God. Don’t
worry who laughs at you. God won’t let them laugh
long before He puts His hand in it. Teach, teach,
teach, His Word is real, and His love is better than
a gang, beer, drugs; etc…. Your brother in Christ,
Cowboys For Christ is in great
need of sponsors for Bulk
Mailing of the Chrisitan
Ranchman: more than 2500 at
the cost of over $300 in bulk
packs every issue. Please help
us spread the GOOD NEWS.
Thank You,
My Testimony
By Dr. Doug Briggs
Depending on your perspective, my testimony
is not all that exciting. God did not save me from
some horrible situation. I was privileged to grow
up in a nice home with loving parents. I attended
a Christian school and was in church most Sundays
and Wednesday nights. I did not really encounter
the “real world” until I went to college. I had thought
that going to a Christian college would just be a
continuation of my high school experience—boy
was I wrong! Very quickly I began to see the real
world—and I did not like it. People that I thought
were my friends radically changed their lifestyle in
ways that I did not understand or feel comfortable
with. I ended up getting a gob off campus during
chapel times just so I did not have to be with “those
people.” I didn’t like the hypocrisy they showed—
and I had not yet learned that instead of pulling
back, I should have seen this as a mission field.
Hey, who thinks of a Christian college as a mission
field???
It was not until grad school that I got back into
church and found a group of friends that I felt
comfortable with. I got back into church and
working with the kids. When I moved home I
became good friends with my karate instructor, who
at the time was not saved—but he and his wife did
start going to church and got saved. They became
a great challenge to me—I should have been the
witness to him, but he found Christ and was now
more passionate about his faith and witness than
me. Once again, I missed the ministry opportunity.
My family has been members of the same church
for almost 40 years. Recently, the youth pastor I
had worked with many years ago came back and
took over the senior pastor position. We were able
to reconnect, and he has been challenging that
the church is not there to feed itself (or me)—it is
to reach the world for Christ. I have to realize that
I should not sit back and wait for the church to just
take care of me. I am the church and I should be
working from that foundation to reach out and be
a witness to others. There is a world of hurting
people out there that need Christ—what am I going
to do to help, “preach the Gospel to every
creature?”

B.I.B.L.E. - Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth
By Becca Schilinski
I wasn’t raised in church like some of you good folks. So I don’t know what’s religiously correct, if you know what I mean. However, I do know what
the Bible says and my Pastor recently told us that the Bible stands for Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth – B.I.B.L.E. We all got a good laugh
about that but it is a very serious statement.
One way to take that statement seriously is to read or hear the Word of God, gain understanding with the Holy Spirit as your teacher, and then digest
the Word of God until it saturates your flesh and is applied in your life here on earth. Easy, right? Sounds like becoming a Christian is not just about
getting a ticket to Heaven…even though that is the most perfect eternal destination! Ah, to be in the Presence of the Father, meet Jesus face-to-face
and see the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, walk among angels and with other Believers, and experience the way things were intended to be, and more,
eternally. Selah. Breathe. Smile. Okay, I’m back. And, Back to Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
How do we live during this journey to Heaven and according to the Word of God? Take lessons from the following Scriptures. Principalities and
powers were disarmed and made a bold display and our adversary publicly ridiculed in Colossians 2:15. Christ was and is Triumphant over satan, hell
and the grave by way of the Cross! John 16:33 (AMP) puts it this way, I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and
confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]!
For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] Sounds like Basic Instructions Before Leaving
Earth to me. Matt 13:52 (MSG) lays it all out this way, “Then you see how every student well-trained in God’s kingdom is like the owner of a general store
who can put his hands on anything you need, old or new, exactly when you need it.”
But that message is not on the lips of every Christian. More often I hear “I’m just waiting to go to Heaven” or “Life is hard but it will all be ok when I
get to Heaven” as if we were left with just ink printed on paper and no Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. I once attended a Bible study that was
on the subject of Faith, but the teaching was on Fear, and of course, all the conversations and responses were morbid and tragic and downright
depressing. I couldn’t understand teaching Fear to increase your Faith. Even though they were Christian friends of mine, I just couldn’t return to study
with that group. They had lots of sad stories and no stories of Christ’s Victory and they and the people they associated with seemed to be “just getting
by” until they get to Heaven. Now I would hope there are no Christian organizations out there that would deny the powerful work done for all of mankind
on the Cross and in the Tomb. But some Christians have picked up the “waiting for Heaven” idea from somewhere other than the Basic Instructions
Before Leaving Earth – BIBLE! Granted, I’m a literal person – God says it, I believe it. So, I just can’t figure out why some Christians think there is a huge
gap between the born-again life on earth and eternal life in Heaven. Jesus came, we walk with Him, we talk with Him, the Kingdom of Heaven is here,
there is Kingdom Life to be lived here on earth! The Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth get more clear to me every time I read them.
The Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth say in Gal 2:20-21, “I have been crucified with Christ in Him I have shared His crucifixion; it is no longer
I who live, but Christ the Messiah lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in
the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Therefore, I do not treat God’s gracious gift as something of minor importance and defeat
its very purpose; I do not set aside and invalidate and frustrate and nullify the grace unmerited favor of God. For if justification righteousness, acquittal
from guilt comes through observing the ritual of the Law, then Christ the Messiah died groundlessly and to no purpose and in vain. His death was then
wholly superfluous.” Jesus gave us Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth by saying in Matt 3:2 “Repent, think differently; change your mind, regretting
your sins and changing your conduct, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Jesus also tells us in Matt 16:19 “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose
(declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.” Matt 10:5-8 (MSG), tells us, Jesus sent his twelve harvest hands out with this
charge: “Don’t begin by traveling to some far-off place to convert unbelievers. And don’t try to be dramatic by tackling some public enemy. Go to the lost,
confused people right here in the neighborhood. Tell them that the kingdom is here. Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead. Touch the untouchables.
Kick out the demons. You have been treated generously, so live generously. And in case we don’t get it, Jesus goes on to give more Basic Instructions
Before Leaving Earth in John 14:12-14, “I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the
things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father. And I will do (I Myself will grant) whatever you ask in My Name
as presenting all that I Am, so that the Father may be glorified and extolled in through the Son. Yes I will grant (I Myself will do) for you whatever you shall
ask in My Name as presenting all that I Am.” And of course, 1 John 4:4 “You are of God you belong to Him and have already defeated and overcome
the agents of the antichrist, because He Who lives in you is greater and mightier than he who is in the world.”
Ordinarily, folks don’t get a ticket and then just wait, and wait, and wait….So make good use of that time and refer to the Basic Instructions Before
Leaving Earth – the BIBLE! Be encouraged, inspired, shocked and awed as you live a supernatural life, as you yield to God and His Word and as you
truly understand “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven! Fulfill the purpose God has for you and what you were created to
do before going to Heaven. Be a witness that we serve a Risen Savior in your home, school, community, state and the world! Fill that gap between earth
and Heaven with Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. Get on with Kingdom living today and never leave a gap in your life again. That way you won’t
have to go to Kingdom Kindergarten when you get to Heaven, you will just simply “graduate” from earth to Heaven. That’s what Brother Ted Pressley
would have said.

Riding Point With Dave Harvey....
ROAD TO DAMASCUS
The Apostle Paul was actually a Christian persecutor, abuser and an accessory to murder when
he started on the road to Damascus. He was committed to rid the world of the followers of “The Way”
that had started in Jerusalem and had spread like wildfire over the country. He seemed to be on a
self-appointed path to destroy the folks that were against his “traditions” and the “religion” that he had
dedicated his life to follow. In just a very short time this “New Belief Movement” had developed from
a small band of supposed rebels to a force to be reckoned with and he was going to stop it before it
got completely out of control. Acts 9:1-2 Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats
against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues
in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he
might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.
Paul’s Hebrew name was “Saul” and he was ready to go to whatever lengths needed to wipe out
this new movement that was causing havoc in the Temple in Jerusalem and synagogues across the
nation of Israel. Rome was a real threat to the “religious” system of the once great nation which GOD
had chosen and Saul was going to make sure that no other person, group or nation was going to
cause any more problems.
As Saul was walking on the hot, dusty road from Jerusalem to Damascus I am sure he was planning how he would go about the city searching house
to house to find those that had been enticed to leave the teachings of the High Priest and teachers of the Law. They were drawn away from the
traditions and religious standards of the nation Israel to follow a person that had been crucified and supposedly had risen from his borrowed burial tomb.
Saul was sure that these poor folks had been bamboozled and he was not stopping until he had sure set them straight, even if he had to throw them in
prison or have them stoned to death.
Admittedly he had a hard time figuring out what had gotten into Stephen, because right before he had been stoned to death Stephen had sure given
a very troubling testimony which he shared with everyone. Saul also had to admit that he had not gotten a good night’s sleep since, but he attributed
it to the fact that poor old Stephen had gotten into something that had poisoned his mind. Maybe he would be lucky and help finish off a few more of
those weird folks in Damascus before the week was over.
Cowboys and Cowgirls, Saul was sure headed in the right direction, because the LORD sent him on to Damascus, and he was doing what he
thought was the right thing to do and he was sure committed to doing that job to the very best of his ability. But Saul was sure doing the wrong thing
even though he was headed in the right direction. Saul was guilty of taking on the wrong job, but he was committed, dedicated and working hard at that
job. He certainly got an “A” for effort. Maybe you know the right job to do for the LORD, but maybe you are headed in the wrong direction. Or, just
maybe you haven’t started yet, wrong job, right job or wrong direction or right direction. You are still waiting for the HOLY SPIRIT to speak, but you
haven’t asked either.
You may not be sure where you are at on your road to Damascus, but it is assured that the brilliant LIGHT of JESUS CHRIST that will cause you to
fall to your knees will also help you to rise in HIS DIVINE STRENGTH to serve HIM. Acts 26:12 “On one of these journeys I was going to Damascus with
the authority and commission of the chief priests. 13 About noon, O king, as I was on the road, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, blazing
around me and my companions. 14 We all fell to the ground. Folks, Saul was seeking to serve, he wanted to do the GOD’S work. He wanted to be a
faithful servant and he wanted to accomplish something for the KINGDOM OF GOD. But before we condemn him, we must first analyze our own
situation, are we doing anything for the KINGDOM OF GOD? Maybe you are headed in the right direction but you are traveling at a snail’s pace. Maybe
you are thinking about all of the great things that you are going to do, but you just haven’t gotten started yet. Just maybe you are waiting for the LORD
to knock you to the ground, but wouldn’t it be easier if you spent time in prayer and studying HIS HOLY WORD and asking the HOLY SPIRIT to give you
direction and guidance. Just thinking about doing a job won’t work, not moving sure won’t accomplish much, but asking, seeking, reading and studying
HIS HOLY WORD will sure be a good start to something great for the KINGDOM.
Just maybe this wonderful holiday season “Thanksgiving” and “Christmas” 2014 will be the time to forget tradition and religion and “take up the cross
of JESUS CHRIST” and go to work for HIM to build the KINGDOM OF GOD. You actually have a job to do for our LORD and SAVIOR, but the question
is, “will you do it, or will you spend 2015 just like you spent 2014, thinking about it, instead of doing it.” Cowboys and Cowgirls, Cowboys For Christ
Leadership, Cowboy and Cowgirl Chaplains and children of the MOST HIGH GOD, let’s all join hearts and hands to make a difference in lives for
JESUS CHRIST in 2015. By the way, HAPPY THANKSGIVING, MERRY CHRISTMAS, and a HAPPY NEW YEAR to each one in JESUS’ NAME.

Chapter Updates.....
CHAPS Chapter, Westminister, MD
Ssubmitted by Sheryl Nupp, VP
Sometimes there are those moments in our
Christian walk in which we are so energized and
motivated to do more for Christ. We have been
experiencing a lot of those moments lately.
The weekend of August 30 and 31 was such a
weekend for those of us here in southeastern
Pennsylvania and Maryland. Dave Harvey came
up for a visit, and it was amazing to say the least.
Joel and I had the wonderful pleasure to host Dave
while he was here. I have to say Dave’s joy in the
Lord is contagious. Christ speaks to us in the Bible
about having the faith of the mustard seed, often
we think of the mustard seed and how it grows into
a large tree, but I really believe maybe Christ was
not only talking about the possibility of growth of
our faith, but He was also speaking of how one
little mustard seed can overtake a whole field,
contagious faith. Dave Harvey has that kind of
faith. Thank you, Dave for spreading that seed of
faith and joy around here in our states.
On Saturday we spent the day at the PHSRA,
in Wellsburg, PA. We were excited to introduce
Dave to our group of adults and parents and youth
involved in the high school rodeo. Wow, what a
time it was.
Then on Sunday, Doug Brennaman, from the
West Keystone Cowboys For Christ chapter came
all the way from New Castle, PA to do the Sunday
morning Cowboy Church service at the rodeo.
Doug has been doing the Cowboy Church at the
Pennsylvania High School Rodeos for quite some
time. We were all blessed and honored to hear
his message. Doug did an amazing job, as did the
brave teens that got up and performed a fun little
song. There is nothing better that to share laughter
and smiles amongst one another. Did I mention
we had over 100 people at the service?
Then Sunday evening we went to Amazing
Grace Equestrian Center in Parkton, Maryland and
the praise and worship continued. Sandy Weinrich
has a beautiful place and she is so gracious to
allow us to use it. Her husband Doug and two
sons, Grant and Austin are such amazing people
and they love the Lord. Austin made us a 6 foot
cross and then gave a little talk on what being asked
to build it and being obedient to build it meant to
him. If you ever doubt where our youth are, and
what they are into, don’t. God surely has His hand
on this generation!
Brad Rineholt did the praise and worship music.
Brad also has a Cowboy Church ministry at his
own farm, Silver Spurs Ranch in Airville, PA. We
are so blessed to have him share his gift and love
of the Lord with us as we share the gospel in the
state of Maryland. Dave did an amazing job of
proclaiming the Word Of God and we had a nice
crowd of people there, too. Joel and I are so
privileged and honored to be a part of the Cowboys
For Christ ministry. We see that God has a
wonderful plan for us all, “alive for the Lord” and
yes I think you can say that.
Coming up on September 7, 2014 we have a
service at Iager ’s Lady Longears Ranch in
Woodbine, Maryland. We will hold another potluck
dinner afterwards and we are hoping we can get
one of the girls, Miranda or Madison, our very own
Maryland High School Rodeo Queen to give us a
little freestyle with one of their wonderful mules.
Then the following weekend on September 14, Joel
and I will be helping with the Cowboy Church at
the Maryland High School Rodeo in Charles County
Maryland.
Is the Lord busy? Is the Holy Spirit present?
You had better believe it. God is calling each of us
into action, to BE the Church, to go out into the
world and seek the lost. It is a big order to fill, but
“WOW” when you see lives being touched and lives
being changed, there isn’t a more important task
for us to do as believers and followers of Jesus.
Are you ready to begin the search? We are here
in Maryland, Joel and I are so excited and our
CHAPS Chapter is excited to mount up and ride
for Jesus.
Durango Cowboys For Christ
Submitted by Pat Bianchi, Secretary
Hello! Please accept our tithe for the glory of
God. We’ve been blessed by much rain here in
Durango, and are enjoying green lush hillsides and
pastures. Our musicians have reached out and
been used by God many, many times this summer
and we’ve been able to help those in need, all
because of His grace.
Blessings to all of you,
Clay Center Chapter, Kansas
Submitted by Paula Urban, Secretary
The Clay Center Chapter would like to make a
donation to the Headquarters. I have also included
the cost of a blue long sleeve shirt that was ordered.
The club ordered this shirt for Scott Teddiken, a
club member that has fallen ill with cancer. Scott
is the founder and first president of the Clay Center
Chapter. Please keep Scott and our members in
your prayers.
Thanks. Paula
On the Trail with West Keystone Cowboys for Christ
- Dale Brenneman, President
Most of you have seen a horseshoe nail. Even
though they come in various sizes, they all have
several distinguishable characteristics. Horseshoe
nails are rectangular in shape and the backside is
straight from the head to the point. The front side,
however, is a little more interesting. The front of
the head is tapered and is stamped with a
trademark. The tapered trademark serves two
purposes. First, it identifies the manufacturer of
the nail; and second, when a shoer is underneath
a horse in a dimly lit barn he can tell which way the
nail is facing, just by feel. This is important because
of the next feature of the nail – the point. The
point is flat on the back and beveled on the front.
The front of the nail, with the beveled point, is
always put in the shoe facing the frog. Because of
this beveled design, when the nail is struck with
force, it bends out through the hoof wall securing
the shoe and protecting the live part of the hoof.
As Christians, we share some characteristics
with the horseshoe nail. Our trademark is love.
(“A new command I give you; love one another.
As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
By this all men will know that you are my disciples,
if you love one another.” John 13:34, 35) His love
shown through us tells the world to whom we
belong. It also keeps us facing the right direction
even when things become dark around us. Also, if
we abide in the Lord, stay in His Word, and pray,
when pressure comes in the form of trials and
temptations we will turn toward Him and the leading
of the Holy Spirit.
So many people are bent in the wrong direction
(self, world) and when pressure comes they are
driven further in that direction; moving further and
further from God. If you feel that happening to you,
it’s not too late. Stop, turn to the Lord. James 4:78 says “Submit yourselves to God, resist the devil
and he will flee from you. Come near to God and
he will come near to you.” God has already
demonstrated His love to us by sending Jesus as
the sacrifice for our sins. All we need to do is repent
and receive that love.

Our
Country....

THE STORY OF RUDOLPH
By Evelyn Horan
A man named Bob May, depressed and
brokenhearted, stared out his apartment window
into the chilling December night. His 4-year-old
daughter Barbara sat on his lap wondering why
her mommy had to go away to be with God in
heaven. Little Barbara couldn’t understand why
her mommy could never came home. Barbara
looked up into her dad’s eyes and asked, “Why
isn’t Mommy just like everybody else’s Mommy?”
Bob’s eyes filled with tears. Life always had to
be different for Bob. When he was a child, Bob
was often bullied by other boys. He was too little
at the time to compete in sports. He was often
called names he’d rather not remember. From
childhood, Bob was different and never seemed
to
fit in.
Bob completed college, married his
loving wife and was grateful to get his job as a
copywriter at Montgomery Ward Department
Store. Then he was blessed with his little girl. But
his wife’s illness took all their savings, and now
Bob his child, and wife lived in a small apartment
in Chicago. His wife went to heaven, a few days
before Christmas in 1938.
Bob struggled to give hope to his child, but he
couldn’t even afford to buy her a Christmas gift.
But if he couldn’t buy a gift, he was determined to
make one - a storybook!
Bob had created an animal character in his
own mind and told the animal’s story to little
Barbara to give her comfort and hope. Again and
again Bob told the story. Who was the character?
What was the story all about?
The story Bob May created was the story of
his life in story book form. The character he created
was a misfit outcast like he was. The character
was a little reindeer named Rudolph, with a big
shiny nose.
Bob finished the book just in time to give it to
his little girl on Christmas Day. But the story doesn’t
end there. The manager of Montgomery Ward
heard about the little storybook and offered Bob
May a small fee to purchase the rights to print the
book, and Wards went on to print, “Rudolph, the
Red- nosed Reindeer” and distribute it to children
visiting Santa
Claus in their stores.
By 1946 Wards had printed and distributed
more than six million copies of Rudolph. That same
year, a major publisher wanted to purchase the
rights from Wards to print an updated version of
the
book.
In a gesture of kindness, the president
of Wards returned all rights back to Bob May. The
book became
a best
seller. Many toy
and marketing deals followed and Bob
May, became wealthy from the story he created
to
comfort
his
grieving
daughter.
But the story doesn’t end there either.
Bob’s brother-in-law, Johnny Marks, made
a song adaptation to Rudolph. It was recorded by
the singing cowboy, Gene Autry. “Rudolph, the
Red-Nosed Reindeer” was released in 1949
and became a great success, selling more records
than any other Christmas song, with the
exception
of
“W hite
Christmas.”
The gift of love that Bob May created for his
daughter so long ago kept on returning back to
bless him again and again. And Bob May learned
the lesson, just like his dear friend Rudolph, that
being different isn’t so bad. In fact, being different
can be a blessing.

THE PERFECT GIFT
by Sheila Sellinger
They were old lights. You know, the big colored bulbs that screw into the strand, and they
poked out in all direction form the lip of our tin awning. A few of the lights had burned out, but
over all, they did the job. The box of ornaments waited patiently in the corner where the tree
would go, an odd assortment of decorations handed down for generations; colorful balls,
tinsel ropes, clear plastic icicles, all of the handmade trinkets from years gone by, and the star.
The star wasn’t just a star. It had five lights, each a different color, nestled in small plastic
cones fringed with silver tinsel. It would go on the top and shine brightly for all to enjoy. If only
we had a tree. That was the problem, you see, we had no tree.
Every year was the same. Mom would get ahold of the school, and on the last day before
the Christmas break, my teacher would let me take home the class tree. It was humiliating to
say the least, and I’d wait until everybody left to go home before I accepted the gift. I knew it
was the only way that we’d have a tree, but I always wished that we could just buy one like
everyone else.
I’d take the poor thing home, bedraggled and used, truly a Charley Brown Christmas tree,
and set it up. By the time it was redecorated loose needles usually speckled the carpet under
its branches, and the star tilted sideways—too heavy a crown.
Santa Claus was buried by the time I was eight because Mom needed my help to shop for
the gifts. As a child, I took for granted that our little tree would house many fine presents.
Even though I knew that Santa wasn’t real, I never once questioned where the bounty came
from. You may be wondering why I had to help shop. Well, the truth is that my mom has been
blind her whole life, and it was just the two of us for many years. I was her eyes. It may seem
strange to some that I picked out my own gifts—that there was no surprise—but it’s just the
way it was.
On Christmas Eve, after church, we’d sit together by the tree and share a snack, and then
Mom would tell the story of Jesus’ birth. Most times we’d already heard it at church, but I liked
the way she told it. I always loved to hear her tell stories, or read to me in braille. It was our
special time, but I didn’t think of it like that back then.
Upon reflection, I see so much more now. The scraggly tree stood for community. Without
the love of others, that small token would have spent Christmas in a dumpster, not cheering
up our modest home, The gifts, sometime wrapped in newspaper, represented the unconditional
love of a parent who spent hours in the cold, ringing a bell for the Salvation Army and giving
blood in order to afford the wishes of her child. The ornaments hanging from the branches
each spoke of past Christmases, memories held together by ribbons, paint and glue. But,
most glorious of all, the story of Christ’s birth, His unlimited love, only touched briefly by the
other loves in our lives. It is seen in that He willingly lowered Himself to be born a man with the
sole intention that His life would be given up for us. God’s only Son, a tiny baby, the embodiment
of ultimate love and sacrifice, shining forth in majestic glory. Angels sang of His delivery,
proclaiming great joy and honor in the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. From times untold,
He was All-in-All; Creator, Redeemer, King and Lord. The perfect gift for an imperfect and
ungrateful people, nothing compares to that.
Merry Christ

Bob Grove’s Testimony
Ever since I was born, my mom faithfully took
me to church. My mom was the daughter of parents
who loved Jesus. They would end every letter to
us “Jesus loves you and so do we, very much!”
Having gone to church nearly every week for as
long as I can remember I, of course, thought I was
a Christian. I went to a Christian church, prayed,
helped people, gave money to charity; all the
outward manifestations of being a Christian.
Then I went to college and really started thinking
about life, the universe, and God. I didn’t have as
good a Christian foundation as I should have and
drifted away. I also realized that if God had laws, I
would have to follow them and I really didn’t want
to. I got into Unitarianism, a religion that allows
you to make up your own religion based not on
Truth, but on whatever you want to be true. Despite
the reality of a God who has immutable laws (that
never change), I figured I could believe in a God
who would certainly let me into heaven if there is
one. I wasn’t that bad, was I? I didn’t understand
that God is not just really good, but completely
perfect and therefore hates all sins, great and small,
with a white hot hatred. Even lies are worthy of a
death sentence. I really didn’t want to believe that
because it seemed harsh and the God I wanted to
believe in was not harsh, but completely loving. I
didn’t understand that there was a third alternative,
a God who hates sin and is absolutely committed
to have every sin punished, but also a God who
made a way so that the ones who committed the
sins would not have to be punished. He sent His
own Son, Jesus Christ to pay for our sins. Since
Jesus was fully man, He could stand in our place
and pay for our sins. As fully God, He could forgive
our sins. Both are necessary for us to be forgiven.
After college, my wife and I had 2 kids. I had a
good job and things were looking really good for
us. Our Christian neighbors tried to get us to come
to church and become Christians, but they saw our
wonderful life (outwardly wonderful anyway) and
didn’t know how to show us that Christianity is
better. We were happier than they were in some
ways. We had enough money, we had great kids,
and we had lots of fun. The missing part of their
evangelism was that there will come a day when
we die and we will face God and He will judge us.
It’s not like we were bad people in comparison to
other people, but God doesn’t grade on a curve.
He will look at all our lives and see that we have
lied, stolen, looked with lust (which Jesus calls
adultery of the heart), dishonored our parents, used
God’s name in vain, and probably broken all of the
other Commandments as well. I know I have; more
times than I can count. Thankfully, I am not going
to Heaven because I’m good (because I’m not).
I’m going to Heaven because I am forgiven.
Despite the numerous attempts that God used
to get to our hearts through our neighbors, our
stubborn, selfish hearts rejected Him. Finally, we
went so far in rejecting God that our seemingly
perfect marriage ended and I found myself
floundering for the first time in my life. My selfconfidence, grounded in self-righteousness, was
at an all-time low. I no longer thought that I was
above average in intelligence and wisdom. I
accepted my neighbor’s offer to go to church and
the first day there, the pastor spoke on the very
subject that had destroyed my marriage. I wept
the entire service. I was broken and humbled. I
decided right there to commit my life to God, even
though I didn’t know what that meant. I still wasn’t
a Christian, but God was definitely working in my
heart. I looked over at my neighbor and jokingly
asked if she had told the pastor I was coming so
that he would write a sermon just for me. I knew
that she hadn’t and was astounded that God knew
from the beginning of time that I would come to
church that day to hear a sermon written by Him
through the pastor just for me. What a loving and
merciful God.
A few months later, I went to the Alpha Course
at the church where I was invited to ask any
questions I wanted and where I was given a free
dinner and felt so loved by all the volunteers who
served there. The atmosphere was welcoming and
after the 3rd session, I had all my questions
answered and surrendered my life to Christ as my
Lord and Savior. I finally understood that I am not
smart enough to figure out Truth and I’m not
powerful enough to create it. Truth is truth whether
I like it or not. I need a Savior to forgive my sins so
that I can be in the presence of a perfect Father.
And now, a decade and a half later, I am even more
at peace than I ever was. I have been through a
lot before and after becoming a Christian, but the
peace of God has brought me through it all. I now
have a promise that when this life is over and I
cross over into eternity I will hear, ‘Well done, good
and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a
little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of
your master.’ (Matthew 25:23) That will be a
glorious day. Knowing that all trials end and that I
will be with Christ for all eternity allows me to joyfully
suffer through all my earthly trials. What a Savior!
And now, over 15 years later, I am married to a
wonderful, godly woman who is the love of my life
and we have a 12 year old daughter together.
Altogether, we raised 6 kids to know and love the
Lord. Our church is our family and we love to serve
God’s people. I also lead an evangelism class and
after the class we go out to talk with people about
the Gospel. Since last fall we have spoken to over
a hundred people individually and given out
hundreds of tracts and Gospel of John booklets.
Please pray that our efforts are rewarded with souls
saved by the grace of God through the Gospel of
Christ and His Holy Spirit. Please also pray that
the children we serve on Sunday mornings hear
and respond to the Gospel.
One more thing, can I also ask you to pray for
our new mission we have undertaken with Cowboys
for Christ? We have given a couple messages at
horse events that our daughter competes in and
pray that souls will be saved.
Lord, thank you for all you have done for us.
Please bless our ministries and prepare the hearts
of all those who hear the glorious words of your
Gospel. Amen.
Blessings to you and yours,
Bob Grove

MY TESTIMONY
By Dennis Lewis
I was saved and baptized at the age of thirteen,
45 years ago. I had a drug problem, as in my parents
drug me to church from the time I was born until I
left home, but they really didn’t have to drag me. I
was still following the Lord faithfully until I started
rodeoing at 14, until I was 20. I knew what I should
be doing, but it was easier just to ignore and do
what I wanted to do. I had kids at an early age, one
at 20 and the other at 22. The Lord got a hold of
me again thru my Momma and I got back into church
and put my boys in church. I did everything with
and for my 2 sons.
Then one day my youngest at age 8 was
diagnosed with cancer. They told us going in there
was no cure for the kind of cancer he had and that
he would be dead within 8 months. All I could do
was pray and ask the Lord every day to heal my
son, but 10 months later on my parent’s 32nd wedding
anniversary, my son passed away. I had lost my
uncle 2 months before that and my grandfather 1
month before my son.
My world just kind of collapsed all at once, and I
was very angry with God even though I knew better.
I blamed God for taking my son from me, so I
punished God and quit church. We do some stupid
things. A few years later I was at a bull riding with
my oldest son and his friends, as I was helping them
I met another man who said, “Can I talk to you guys.”
That man became a dear friend of mine and my
pastor for 4 years. He led me back to the Lord and
helped me lose my anger. I knew it wasn’t the Lord’s
fault, but He was easy to blame.
I was active in church again, helping others to
learn about Christ and helping my Pastor with bull
riding clinics. That is the first time the Lord called
me to p[reach, but I ran and didn’t listen. I did not
feel worthy or even close to being qualified. We
never know what is best for us. Well, the church
got away from being a Cowboy Church and went to
more Pentecostal, so I headed out again. Because
I just didn’t fit in, I was a cowboy and churches for
cowboys were few and far between back then. So,
I bounced around from church to church, but I still
didn’t fit in. Years go by and I am still doing my best
to follow the Lord, but my enthusiasm was gone. I
was not on fire anymore, until I moved to Aquilla,
Texas 8 years ago where I finally fit in.
The Lord woke me up one Sunday morning and
said, “Let’s go.” I got ready and He led me to a
Cowboy Church 20 mile from my house. As soon
as I walked in I knew I was home, not my eternal
home yet, but my church home. I joined the next
Sunday and was doing great until the Lord nudged
me again to preach. I still ran, but said I would
consider and I will do my best. Well, I was
approached to be a lay Pastor by one of the Elders,
the Lord was prodding and I did tell Him I would do
my best, so, I accepted. I was a lay Pastor for
almost 7 years until the last couple of months, the
Lord told me it’s time to move on and do what I
have been asking of you.
Well, I have learned to listen to the Lord and
let Him guide and direct me daily. He is my Savior,
my Redeemer and my life and I owe all of myself
to Him. I can never repay Him, but I can do what
He asked of me, to preach His Word to all who
can and will hear me. I was giving my testimony
at a barrel racing at my church. I was in the arena
with all of the ladies and girls on horseback around
me. It had been a rough week and getting to share
the Lord was brightening up my day, for sure.
I was going to give my testimony and before I
could start the Holy Spirit took over and started
talking about faith. I don’t remember all the words
or everything I said, but I do know it was about my
truck and a trip from Fort Worth and Aquilla. After
it was over and I prayed, a buddy of mine said
that it was awesome, but it didn’t sound like you
out there at all. I told him that it wasn’t me; it was
the Holy Spirit talking.
A little 13 year old girl caught up with me after I
was through and asked, “What is faith.” I explained
and she asked, “How do you get that faith.” I
asked her if she was saved, and she said, “no,
but I want to be.” That little 13 year old is now my
granddaughter by marriage. She is now 16 and
walks with the Lord every day. I had the honor of
baptizing her and her brothers and Mom and Dad
just three weeks after I had the great opportunity
of leading her to the Lord.
Death, as Christians understand it, is a
change in the form of life; it is not a
cessation of life. Those who have been
given eternal life in Christ Jesus will spend
a few fleeting moments here on this earth.
The rest of eternity is spent in the presence
of God.
Service in the name of Christ can also
live on, even though the servant has gone
to his heavenly reward.

COWBOY CHAPLAINS OF
AMERICA
There is a wave of the HOLY SPIRIT moving
across the Cowboy World and it is so evident with
the charge of hard riding soldiers of the cross
seeking confirmation to their calling by the LORD.
It is an absolute joy and honor riding the trails of
the Cowboys For Christ ministry with these
dedicated and committed workers f or the
KINGDOM OF GOD. I had the great pleasure of
preaching GOD’S WORD and officiating at the
Ordination Ceremony of Auburn Powers and Carl
Smith at Country Cowboy Chapel in Pilot Point,
Texas on Sunday September 28. The blessings
continued on October 5 at Bluff Creek Cowboy
Church just south of Abilene, Texas with the
Ordination of Tommy Tutt, who has great things in
the works for his area. My next stop in the
Ordination trail was to Remington Park Race Track
in Oklahoma City for preaching and officiating at
long time Cowboys For Christ riding cowboy Steve
Womack. Steve has been with Cowboys For Christ
since the middle seventies and he is still working
to build the KINGDOM with preaching and singing
wherever and whenever he is directed by the HOLY
SPIRIT.
On October 12 at Lexington, Missouri I had the
multiple blessings of preaching at Big River Ranch
to a barn full of Cowboys and Cowgirls and
officiating at the ordination of five Cowboys that
have truly made a difference in many lives as they
“go” to serve the LORD. Rilla Simmons has the
complete story of the weekend happenings on the
front page, but I sure have to mention these Men
of GOD that were called by the LORD and are
now confirmed by the ordination as COWBOY
CHAPLAINS. Matt Wagner, Regional Director,
Board Member and Chapter President, and
longtime rider for this ministry, Mike Stephens,
Chapter President and Pastor of Cotton Creek
Cowboy Chapel, Mike Shane, Cotton Creek
Chapter Chaplain, just about full time minister and
hardworking Cowboy for the LORD. Mike
Reicherts, President of We Will Ride Chapter in
Greene, Iowa and the leader of a major trail riding
ministry with his wife, Jamie. And also Ramsey
Steen, another Iowa Cowboy who is President of
the new Valley Hills Bucking Chute Chapter in
Akron, Iowa. Ramsey rode bulls a few years back
and he knows rodeo and he sure knows how to
minister to the rodeo Cowboys and Cowgirls.
Cowboys and Cowgirls, it is a true honor and
privilege to know these men of GOD and a real
joy to have them as ministering partners, and
especially to have them as true friends. I give
thanks to the LORD for Cowboys that have quoted
and truly mean Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice
of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who
will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
And these men have not only quoted that verse,
but their actions speak loud and clear that they
certainly mean what they say.
The Ordination of Auburn Powers and Carl Smith at
Pilot Point, TX on Sept. 28th.

Dear Cowboys For Christ,
Howdy, I hope and pray that God blesses you’ll.
I want to let you’ll know that God answered some
of my prayers. One of those prayers is that my
Momma and Daddy was both sick with bronchitis.
I prayed for them and believed for their healing,
and a few days later I got a letter saying that they
wasn’t sick any more. Our Lord and Savior answer
prayers on time.
The next prayer answered was my sister, I sent
her a “sinner’s prayer.” She wrote me back saying
that she forgives me for hurting everyone, and
thanked me for the “sinner’s prayer.” She is now
serving Jesus and I thank Jesus for saving her. I
believe in Jesus that He will touch my nephew and
both of my nieces, and also my brother and
cousins. I am believing for their salvation, as well.
One Tuesday I felt like giving up on everything,
but I made myself go to church. When I got to
church I still didn’t want to go in, and I could hardly
make myself. Then when I tried to sing, I couldn’t
because I was crying and I couldn’t stop. I was
crying so hard I fell to my knees, and then I felt two
hands on my shoulders and two on my back. I
was praying for God to have mercy on me, because
I couldn’t go on without Him, I need Him every day
of my life. The only thing I could hear was both
people praying for me, and then I got up
I tried to sing and I started to cry again, that is
when one of the ladies with the volunteers came
over to me. She laid her had on my head and
started praying, I could hear chair moving and
everyone knew what was happening. I fell out in
the Holy Spirit, and when I opened my eyes
everyone told me that they were praying for me. I
told them that I needed their prayers and that I felt
better. That day I went to eat and a man that is on
my wing was talking to someone else and he told
them that there was something different about me,
that I was not the same and that man is not a
Christian.
I thank God for changing me. Please keep me
and my family in your prayers, my mother also has
heart problems. May God bless you,
Your brother in Christ, Jason Hurst
