Third Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC)
“Bridging Cultures, Building Peace”
Rio de Janeiro, 27-29 May 2010
Over 2,000 political and corporate leaders, civil society activists, youth, journalists,
foundations, and religious leaders gathered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to address improving
relations across cultures and building the conditions for long-term peace. President Lula
da Silva of Brazil, Prime Minister Zapatero of Spain, Prime Minister Erdogan of Turkey, UN
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations
and former President of Portugal Jorge Sampaio addressed welcoming remarks to the
participants. Youth from all over the world took part in the Forum and contributed their own
unique experiences, expertise and thoughts on various themes.
The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, speaking at the Forum in Rio, said: “Intercultural
dialogue is one of the most important missions of the 21st century with three quarters of the
conflicts today having a cultural dimension. We can therefore limit conflicts by improving
human and cultural relations, and through investing in the new tools for tolerance, trust
and change.”
The third global forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations concluded in Rio de Janeiro with a
series of announcements by international leaders and institutions for new action in favour
of fighting xenophobia and countering forces of extremism.
Speaking on the closing day of the Forum, André Azoulay, President of the Anna Lindh
Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures and member of the
High-Level Advisory Group which created the Alliance of Civilizations said: “Today we enter
a new phase in our fight to put an end to the clash of civilizations theory. For the very
first time in history, we have in place institutions like the Anna Lindh Foundation and
UN Alliance, as well as a unique Union around the Mediterranean which brings together
people from Europe, North Africa and the Middle East in a common unity, and offers the
international community the best hope for peace”.
The Anna Lindh Foundation, responsible for the social and human relations dimension of
the 43 country ‘Union for the Mediterranean’ which is co-chaired by Egypt and France,
has received further recognition over the last days for its unique approach to inter-regional
relations, with French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner proposing the establishment
of a European Union/Latin American Foundation ‘based on the model of the Anna Lindh
Foundation’.
In the same spirit, the United Nations Forum in Brazil concluded with the international
announcement adopted by the 120 Ministers of Foreign Ministers of the Alliance of
Civilizations that the forthcoming Anna Lindh Report on Euro-Med Intercultural Trends
will be “an essential tool for prioritizing the action of civil society in favour of mutual
understanding and for the development of regional policies”.

Within the official conclusions, the Anna Lindh Foundation was praised for its “central
contribution to the global forum”, having been invited to speak at the key international
debates on ‘The Dialogue of Civilizations and the Remaking of the World Order’;
‘Shaping Public Perceptions: The Role of the Media Today’; ‘Investing in Cultural
Diversity’ and ‘Addressing Islamophobia’, as well as co-organizing a special session on
the forthcoming Anna Lindh Report.
Youth at the Forum
140 selected youth from all over the world came to Rio to contribute their own unique
experience, expertise and thoughts on the various themes discussed during the Forum.
To facilitate youth participation in the Forum, the events were organized by the UNAOC
and its partners:
➤ Cultural Youth Walk
With a view to allow young participants to fully understand and appreciate the cultural
diversity of Brazil, the UNAOC in partnership with the Abraham Path Initiative and SAARA
organized a Youth Walk in the most culturally and religiously diverse neighborhood of
Rio. Interactions with the local population, short engagement projects and reflections
on this local diversity were part of this Youth Walk. SAARA is a popular area located in
downtown Rio de Janeiro. As SAARA is close to the port, this area served as a first home
for a large number of Syrian, Lebanese, Jewish, Greek, Turk, Spanish, Portuguese and
Argentine migrants coming to Brazil by the end of 19th and early 20th centuries.
➤ Youth Event
At the UN Forum Alliance of Civilizations in Rio de Janeiro, a one day Youth Event
was held on May 27. 140 young leaders from 60 countries discussed key aspects of
mutual understanding, formulated recommendations on bridging cultural divides, and
deepened their knowledge of cultural diversity in Brazil.
The entire Youth Event was devoted to deliberations on the overarching themes
addressed during the Forum thematic sessions. A key element of the Youth Event was
the discussion on and adoption of the action plan for the Global Youth Movement for
the UN Alliance of Civilizations. The key youth recommendations have been delivered
during the Forum Opening Ceremony.
Launch of Online Community on Creating Inclusive
Societies
A unique global online community on migration and integration was launched on 27 May
2010 at the UN Alliance of Civilizations Forum in Rio de Janeiro. Developed jointly with the

International Organization for Migration (IOM), this website (www.unaoc.org/communities/
migrationintegration) will convene a worldwide community of policy makers, practitioners
and civil society activists who work together to improve relations among migrants and host
communities. This online community features ideas and innovative projects from around
the world, highlighting successful models and inspiring new initiatives. It also illustrates the
positive impact of migration and the benefits it can bring to host societies, as migrants
contribute to the economic, cultural and social life of their new country.
Launch of Dialogue Cafés in Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro
With support from the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Cisco, the Calouste
Gulbenkian Foundation, the Anna Lindh Foundation and others, the Dialogue Café
Association is creating a global network of physical spaces – Dialogue Cafés – which will
provide access to state of the art video conferencing technology to enable city-to-city and
multi-city conversations and activities. These cafés will be connected through a global
exchange that links cafés across the world to enable informal conversations as well as
more structured multi-city activities such as workshops, seminars, conferences, concerts
and lectures.
Dialogue Café is created for individuals and organizations with a social, environmental,
educational or cultural mission – such as foundations, civil society organizations,
community groups, universities, schools, social enterprises, public sector bodies and
agencies. The first two Dialogue Cafés opened on 27 May in Rio de Janeiro at the Cândido
Mendes University and in Lisbon at the Museum of Fashion and Design (MUDE). Soon,
Dialogue Cafés will be opened in London, Amsterdam, Florence, Toronto, Doha, Ramallah,
Tel Aviv, Cairo, Istanbul, New York, San Francisco and Seoul.
The Alliance of Civilizations was established in 2005 as a UN initiative jointly supported
by the President of the Government of Spain and the Prime Minister of Turkey. It emerged
out of a conviction that, in order to achieve sustainable peace, long-standing divisions
between cultures need to be addressed.

Throughout history, young people have played an active role in shaping major social
and political advancements. Today’s growing globalization and cross-border movements
create an environment which is increasingly diverse in terms of culture and religion. Young
people’s contribution to understanding the impact of this diversity on everyday life as well
as politics is now more crucial than ever. Moreover, as they constitute the largest segment
of population in many regions, the role of youth in shaping their country’s response to
cultural and religious diversity is vital.

« Construire la paix par le dialogue des cultures »
Rio de Janeiro, 27-29 mai 2010
Plus de 2000 dirigeants politiques et d’entreprises, militants de la société civile,
jeunes, journalistes, représentants de fondations et chefs religieux se sont réunis à Rio
de Janeiro, au Brésil, pour évoquer ensemble les relations entre les cultures et mettre
en place les conditions d’une paix durable. Les participants ont été accueillis par le
Président brésilien Lula da Silva, le Premier ministre espagnol Zapatero, le Premier
ministre turc Erdogan, le Secrétaire général des Nations Unies Ban Ki-moon et le Haut
Représentant pour l’Alliance des civilisations des Nations Unies ainsi que l’ancien
Président du Portugal Jorge Sampaio. Des jeunes du monde entier ont pris part au
Forum, auquel ils ont contribué en y apportant leurs expériences uniques, leur expertise
ainsi que leurs idées sur divers thèmes.
Le Secrétaire général Ban Ki-moon a déclaré au Forum: « Le dialogue interculturel est
l’une des missions majeures du XXIe siècle au moment où les trois quarts des conflits
actuels ont une dimension culturelle. Nous pouvons donc mettre un frein aux conflits
en améliorant les relations humaines et culturelles et en investissant dans de nouveaux
outils pour la tolérance, la confiance et le changement. »
Le troisième Forum mondial de l’Alliance des civilisations s’est terminé à Rio de Janeiro
par une série de déclarations des dirigeants et institutions internationales en faveur
de nouvelles mesures pour lutter contre la xénophobie et faire barrage aux forces de
l’extrémisme.
Le jour de clôture du Forum, André Azoulay, Président de la Fondation euroméditerranéenne Anna Lindh pour le dialogue entre les cultures, et membre du
Groupe consultatif de haut niveau à l’origine de l’Alliance des civilisations, a affirmé :
« Aujourd’hui, nous entrons dans une nouvelle phase de notre combat pour rompre avec
la théorie du choc des civilisations. Pour la première fois dans l’histoire, nous disposons
d’institutions comme la Fondation Anna Lindh et l’Alliance des civilisations, de même
que d’une union unique formée des pays sur le pourtour de la mer Méditerranée, qui
rassemble les peuples d’Europe, d’Afrique du Nord et du Moyen-Orient et offre à la
communauté internationale un réel espoir de paix ».
La Fondation Anna Lindh, responsable de la dimension humaine et sociale de l’
« Union pour la Méditerranée » que se partagent 43 pays et coprésidée par l’Egypte
et la France, promeut une approche originale des relations internationales qui a ces
derniers jours bénéficié d’une reconnaissance officielle, alors que le ministre français
des Affaires étrangères Bernard Kouchner a proposé la création d’une Fondation Union
européenne/Amérique latine inspirée de la Fondation Anna Lindh.

Dans le même esprit, le Forum des Nations Unies s’est terminé par une déclaration
internationale dans laquelle les 120 ministres des Affaires étrangères de l’Alliance des
civilisations affirment que le prochain rapport Anna Lindh sur les tendances interculturelles
EuroMed sera « un outil essentiel pour définir les priorités de l’action de la société civile
en faveur de la compréhension mutuelle et pour l’élaboration des politiques régionales ».
Les conclusions officielles saluent pour sa contribution décisive au Forum mondial la
Fondation Anna Lindh, qui a été invitée à s’exprimer lors de débats internationaux clés
– sur le dialogue des civilisations et le remaniement de l’ordre mondial, le modelage
des perceptions publiques et le rôle des médias aujourd’hui, l’investissement dans la
diversité culturelle et la question de l’islamophobie – et à organiser une session spéciale
sur le prochain rapport Anna Lindh.
Les jeunes au Forum
140 jeunes sélectionnés sont venus à Rio des quatre coins du monde pour apporter
leur expérience unique, leur expertise et leurs idées sur les divers thèmes abordés à
cette occasion. Pour faciliter leur participation, des événements avaient été organisés par
l’UNAOC et ses partenaires, et notamment :
➤ La marche culturelle des jeunes
Pour permettre aux jeunes participants d’appréhender pleinement la diversité culturelle
du Brésil et de l’apprécier à sa juste valeur, l’UNAOC, en partenariat avec l’initiative
Abraham Path et SAARA, ont organisé une marche de jeunes dans le quartier de Rio
qui présente la plus forte mixité sur les plans politique et religieux ; cette marche a
notamment favorisé des échanges avec la population locale, des petits projets de
dialogue et des réflexions sur la diversité locale. SAARA est un quartier populaire du
centre de Rio de Janeiro ; très proche du port, il a accueilli quantité de migrants syriens,
libanais, juifs, grecs, turcs, espagnols, portugais et argentins venus au Brésil à la fin du
XIXe et au début du XXe siècle.
➤ Un événement de jeunesse
Lors du Forum de l’Alliance des civilisations à Rio de Janeiro, un événement de jeunesse
d’une journée s’est tenu le 27 mai : 140 responsables de jeunesse de 60 pays ont examiné
les aspects fondamentaux de la compréhension mutuelle, formulé des recommandations
sur la façon de combler le fossé culturel et approfondi leurs connaissances au sujet de
la diversité culturelle au Brésil.
L’intégralité de l’événement a été consacrée à des délibérations sur les thèmes
prioritaires abordés lors des sessions thématiques du Forum. Un des points d’orgue en
a été l’examen puis l’adoption d’un plan d’action du mouvement mondial de jeunesse
pour l’Alliance des civilisations. Par ailleurs, lors de la cérémonie d’ouverture du Forum,
les jeunes ont présenté une série de recommandations clés.

Lancement d’une communauté en ligne et création de
sociétés inclusives
Une communauté mondiale unique, en ligne, sur la migration et l’intégration a été lancée
le 27 mai 2010 lors du Forum de l’Alliance des civilisations des Nations Unies, à Rio
de Janeiro. Développée conjointement avec l’Organisation internationale des migrations
(OIM), ce site web (www.unaoc.org/communities/migrationintegration) rassemblera
une communauté mondiale de décideurs, de praticiens et de militants de la société
civile qui travailleront ensemble à l’amélioration des relations entre les migrants et les
communautés hôtes. Cette communauté en ligne relaiera des idées et des projets
novateurs du monde entier, mettra en exergue les modèles couronnés de succès et
inspirera de nouvelles initiatives. Qui plus est, elle donnera des exemples de l’impact
positif des migrations et des bénéfices que peut en retirer la société d’accueil, alors que
les migrants apportent leur contribution à la vie économique, culturelle et sociale de leur
nouveau pays.
Ouverture de cafés-dialogue à Lisbonne et Rio de Janeiro
Avec le soutien de l’Alliance des civilisations, Cisco, la Fondation Calouste Gulbenkian,
la Fondation Anna Lindh et d’autres, l’association des cafés-dialogue a entrepris de
développer un réseau mondial d’espaces physiques, les cafés-dialogue, qui permettront
de bénéficier de la technologie la plus avancée en matière de vidéoconférence pour
permettre des conversations de ville à ville et entre plusieurs villes. Ces cafés seront
connectés dans le cadre d’un réseau mondial les reliant à travers le monde, afin de
faciliter les conversations informelles et des activités multi-municipalités structurées –
comme des ateliers, des séminaires, des conférences, des concerts et des exposés.
Le café-dialogue est destiné aux individus et aux organisations qui conduisent une
mission sociale, environnementale, éducative ou culturelle, comme les fondations, les
organisations de la société civile, les groupes locaux, les universités, les écoles, les
entreprises sociales, les instances et agences du secteur public. Les deux premiers
cafés-dialogue ont ouvert le 27 mai à Rio de Janeiro à l’université Cândido Mendes et à
Lisbonne au musée de la mode et du design (Museum of Fashion and Design, MUDE).
Bientôt, d’autres cafés-dialogue ouvriront leurs portes à Londres, Amsterdam, Florence,
Toronto, Doha, Ramallah, Tel Aviv, le Caire, Istanbul, New York, San Francisco et Séoul.

De tout temps, les jeunes ont joué un rôle majeur dans les grandes avancées sociales
et politiques. Aujourd’hui, la mondialisation croissante et les mouvements à travers les

de religions. Pour comprendre l’impact de cette diversité sur la vie quotidienne, ainsi que

sur la politique, la contribution des jeunes est plus essentielle que jamais. Qui plus est,
alors qu’ils forment le plus large segment de la population dans beaucoup de régions, les
jeunes ont un rôle vital à jouer dans la définition de la réponse de leur pays à la diversité
culturelle et religieuse.

Drittes Forum der Allianz der Zivilisationen der VN (UNAOC)
„Brücken zwischen Kulturen bauen, Frieden konsolidieren”
Rio de Janeiro, 27. – 29. Mai 2010
Mehr als 2.000 führende Vertreter aus Politik und Wirtschaft, Aktivisten der
Zivilgesellschaft, Jugendliche, Journalisten, Stiftungen und Religionsführer kamen in
Rio de Janeiro, Brasilien, zusammen, um sich mit der Verbesserung der interkulturellen
Beziehungen und dem Aufbau der Bedingungen für langfristigen Frieden zu befassen.
Der brasilianische Präsident Lula da Silva, der spanische Ministerpräsident Zapatero, der
türkische Ministerpräsident Erdogan, UN-Generalsekretär Ban Ki-moon sowie der Hohe
Vertreter für die Allianz der Zivilisationen der VN und frühere portugiesische Staatspräsident
Jorge Sampaio wandten sich in Begrüßungsreden an die Teilnehmer. Jugendliche aus der
ganzen Welt nahmen am Forum teil und trugen ihre eigenen einmaligen Erfahrungen, ihr
Wissen und ihre Gedanken zu den verschiedenen Themen bei.
UN-Generalsekretär Ban Ki-moon sagte in seiner Rede auf dem Forum in Rio:
„Interkultureller Dialog zählt zu den wichtigsten Aufgaben im 21. Jahrhundert, in dem
drei Viertel aller aktuellen Konflikte eine kulturelle Dimension haben. Wir können daher
Konflikte begrenzen, indem wir die Beziehungen zwischen Menschen und Kulturen
verbessern und in neue Werkzeuge für Toleranz, Vertrauen und Veränderung investieren.“
Das Dritte Weltforum der Allianz der Zivilisationen der VN endete in Rio de Janeiro mit
einer Reihe von Ankündigungen führender internationaler Politiker und Institutionen für
neue Maßnahmen zur Bekämpfung von Fremdenfeindlichkeit und zum Widerstand gegen
extremistische Kräfte.
In seiner Rede am Schlusstag des Forums sagte André Azoulay, der Präsident der
Euro-Mediterranen Anna-Lindh-Stiftung für den Dialog der Kulturen (Anna Lindh EuroMediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures) und Mitglied der Hohen
Beratergruppe (High-level Group), aus der die Allianz der Zivilisationen hervorging: „Heute

treten wir in unserem Kampf für ein Ende der Theorie über den Kampf der Kulturen in eine
neue Phase ein. Zum allerersten Mal in der Geschichte haben wir Institutionen wie die
Anna-Lindh-Stiftung und die UN-Allianz sowie eine einmalige Union im Mittelmeerraum, in
der Menschen aus Europa, Nordafrika und dem Mittleren Osten in einem gemeinsamen
Gremium zusammenkommen und die der internationalen Gemeinschaft die größte
Aussicht auf Frieden bietet”.
Die Anna-Lindh-Stiftung, die in der aus 43 Ländern bestehenden ‚Union für das
Mittelmeer’ unter dem gemeinsamen Vorsitz von Ägypten und Frankreich für die
Dimension der Sozial – und Humanbeziehungen zuständig ist, hat in den letzten Tagen
für ihren einzigartigen Ansatz in interregionalen Beziehungen weitere Anerkennung
erfahren, und der französische Außenminister Bernard Kouchner schlug die Gründung
einer Stiftung für die Beziehungen zwischen der Europäischen Union und Lateinamerika
‚nach dem Modell der Anna-Lindh-Stiftung’ vor.
In diesem Geist endete auch das UN-Forum in Brasilien mit der von den 120
Außenministern aus den Ländern der Allianz der Zivilisationen verabschiedeten
internationalen Ankündigung, dass der bevorstehende Anna-Lindh-Bericht zu
Interkulturellen Trends im Euro-Med-Raum „ein wesentliches Werkzeug zur Priorisierung
von zivilgesellschaftlichen Aktionen für gegenseitiges Verständnis und die Entwicklung
von Regionalpolitiken“ sein werde.
Im Rahmen der offiziellen Schlussfolgerungen wurde die Anna-Lindh-Stiftung für ihren
„entscheidenden Beitrag zum Weltforum” gelobt, zu dem sie als Redner in den wichtigen
internationalen Debatten über ‚Dialog der Kulturen und Neugestaltung der Weltordnung’,
‚Prägung der öffentlichen Wahrnehmung: Die Rolle der Medien heute’, ‚Investitionen
und kulturelle Vielfalt’ und ‚Umgang mit Islamfeindlichkeit’ eingeladen worden war und
außerdem als Mitorganisator einer Sondersitzung zum bevorstehenden Anna-LindhBericht auftrat.
Jugend beim Forum
140 ausgewählte Jugendliche aus der ganzen Welt kamen nach Rio, um ihre eigenen
einzigartigen Erfahrungen, ihr Wissen und ihre Gedanken zu den diversen, während des
Forums diskutierten Themen beizutragen. Um die Beteiligung der Jugend am Forum zu
erleichtern, wurden von der UNAOC und ihren Partnern Veranstaltungen organisiert:
➤ Jugend-Kulturwanderung
Um den jungen Teilnehmern ein umfassendes Verständnis und eine Wertschätzung der
kulturellen Vielfalt Brasiliens zu ermöglichen organisierte die UNAOC in einer Partnerschaft
mit der Abraham Path Initiative und SAARA eine Jugendwanderung (Youth Walk) in dem
Viertel von Rio, das die größte kulturelle und religiöse Vielfalt aufweist. Begegnungen mit
der dortigen Bevölkerung, kurze Engagements/Projekte und Gedanken über diese lokale
Vielfalt waren Bestandteil dieser Jugendwanderung. SAARA ist ein beliebter Bezirk in

der Innenstadt von Rio de Janeiro. Weil SAARA in der Nähe des Hafens liegt, war dieses
Viertel die erste Heimat einer großen Zahl syrischer, libanesischer, jüdischer, griechischer,
türkischer, spanischer, portugiesischer argentinischer Migranten, die Ende des 19. und
Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts nach Brasilien kamen.
➤ Jugend-Event
Am 27. Mai wurde auf dem Forum der UN-Allianz der Zivilisationen in Rio de Janeiro
ein eintägiges Jugend-Event veranstaltet. 140 junge Führungspersönlichkeiten aus 16
Ländern diskutierten zentrale Aspekte für das gegenseitige Verständnis, formulierten
Empfehlungen zur Überbrückung der kulturellen Kluft und vertieften ihr Wissen über die
kulturelle Vielfalt in Brasilien.
Der gesamte Jugend-Event war den Beratungen zu den generellen Themen gewidmet,
die in den thematischen Sitzungen des Forums behandelt wurden. Ein wichtiges Element
des Jugend-Events war die Diskussion und Verabschiedung des Aktionsplans für die
Weltjugendbewegung für die UN-Allianz der Zivilisationen (Global Youth Movement for
the UN Alliance of Civilizations). Die wichtigsten Empfehlungen der Jugend wurden in der
Eröffnungszeremonie des Forums vorgestellt.
Start der Online-Community zum Aufbau inklusiver
Gesellschaften
Eine einmalige weltweite Online-Community zu Migration und Integration wurde am 27.
Mai 2010 auf dem Forum der UN-Allianz der Zivilisationen in Rio de Janeiro gestartet.
Sie wurde gemeinsam mit der Internationalen Migrationsorganisation (International
Organization for Migration, IOM) entwickelt, und auf dieser Webseite (www.unaoc.
org/communities/migrationintegration) wird sich eine weltweite Community aus
Politikern, Praktikern und zivilgesellschaftlichen Aktivisten versammeln, die zusammen
an der Verbesserung der Beziehungen zwischen Migranten und den sie aufnehmenden
Gemeinschaften arbeiten. Diese Online-Community präsenteirt Ideen und innovative
Projekte aus der ganzen Welt und hebt dabei erfolgreiche Modelle und hoffnungsvolle
neue Initiativen hervor. Sie zeigt außerdem die positiven Wirkungen von Migration und

Start von Dialog-Cafés in Lissabon und Rio de Janeiro
Mit Unterstützung der UN-Allianz der Zivilisationen, der Firma Cisco, der CalousteGulbenkian-Stiftung, der Anna-Lindh-Stiftung und anderen richtet der Verein der DialogCafés (Dialogue Café Association) ein weltweites Netzwerk real vorhandener Räume –
der Dialog-Cafés – ein, die Zugang zu modernster Videokonferenztechnik bieten, um so
Gespräche und Aktivitäten zwischen zwei oder mehreren Orten zu ermöglichen. Diese
Cafés werden über eine weltweite Vermittlungsstelle verbunden, die die Cafés in der

ganzen Welt miteinander vernetzt, um so informelle Gespräche sowie stärker strukturierte
Aktivitäten unter Beteiligung von mehreren Städten wie beispielsweise Workshops,
Seminare, Konferenzen, Konzerte und Vorträge zu ermöglichen.
Die Dialog-Cafés werden für Einzelpersonen und Organisationen mit sozialen, ökologischen,
pädagogischen oder kulturellen Zielen eingerichtet – wie beispielsweise Stiftungen,
zivilgesellschaftliche Organisationen, Bürgerinitiativen, Universitäten, Schulen, soziale
Unternehmen, Einrichtungen und Stellen des öffentlichen Sektors. Die ersten beiden
Dialog-Cafés öffneten am 27. Mai in Rio de Janeiro an der Universität Cândido Mendes
sowie im Museum für Mode und Design (Museum of Fashion and Design, MUDE) in
Lissabon. In Kürze werden weitere Dialog-Cafés in London, Amsterdam, Florenz, Toronto,
Doha, Ramallah, Tel Aviv, Kairo, Istanbul, New York, San Francisco und Seoul eröffnet.
Die Allianz der Zivilisationen wurde 2005 als UN-Initiative gegründet, die vom
spanischen Ministerpräsidenten und dem türkischen Premierminister gemeinsam
unterstützt wurde. Sie entstand aus der Überzeugung heraus, dass man sich mit der
seit langem bestehenden Kluft zwischen den Kulturen befassen müsse, um nachhaltigen

Im Laufe der Geschichte haben Jugendliche eine aktive Rolle gespielt, als wichtige
soziale und politische Fortschritte formuliert wurden. Die wachsende Globalisierung
und grenzüberschreitenden Bewegungen von heute schaffen ein Umfeld, das sich
durch wachsende kulturelle und religiöse Vielfalt auszeichnet. Der Beitrag der Jugend
ist heute entscheidender denn je, um die Auswirkungen dieser Vielfalt auf das tägliche
Leben und die Politik zu verstehen. Und weil die Jugend in vielen Regionen das größte
Bevölkerungssegment ist, ist de Rolle der Jugend bei der Formulierung der Reaktion ihres
Landes auf kulturelle und religiöse Vielfalt lebenswichtig.
