The Nacc Lobby
Pre-Show
This year the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre will
showcase local performers in the lobby an hour before
NACC presentations. During this time patrons will have
the ability to sit and socialize while enjoying a beverage
and/or a light snack with friends. This is a great way to
meet up before a show and take in the ambiance of our
beautiful atrium.
Monthly Art Exhibit
Every month NACC will have an art exhibit in the lobby
that will be on display during our presentations. Artwork
will be available for purchase, with the majority of the
proceeds going to the exhibiting artist.
NACC Candle Ice CafÉ
Our concession will be selling wine, beer, and coffee as
well as pop and juice. This season we are also excited to
be offering cheese trays with optional sides of charcuterie,
chutney, and/or baguette. We will continue to offer baked
goods, chips, and chocolate bars.
E-Bay Store (http://stores.ebay.ca/naccnt)
Artwork that has been donated to NACC over the last
29 years is available for purchase on our e-bay store. A
selection of the pieces will also be on display in the NACC
foyer in the entrance to the theatre at all our shows. All
purchases will be considered a donation to NACC in
support of the arts, and buyers will be issued a charitable
tax receipt.

Night
“Set during one 24-hour period without the sun,
Christopher Morris’ Night is an emotionally powerful play
that skips over the Northern clichés to cast a frost-covered
but unblinking eye on the problems currently faced by the
Inuit inhabitants of Canada’s newest territory.”
(The Globe and Mail)
“Then, there’s the ethereal beauty of the Arctic captured
by designer Gillian Gallow in her simple, haunting set –
an icecovered telephone pole, its wires strung out over
the audience, bringing messages from the North to our
Toronto ears.” (The Globe and Mail)
Daniella, a Toronto anthropologist, travels to Pond Inlet to
repatriate the bones of an Inuk man. She encounters Piuyuq,
a woman living in Pond Inlet, and her best friend, Gloria.
Their lives briefly intersect as Daniella tries to figure out why
she has brought the bones this far, and Piuyuq struggles to
deal with her best friend’s suicide. The play takes place over
24 hours of winter darkness. Night is the story of the North
and the South, cultures clashing and
generation gaps. The play is presented in

(VIMFF) incorporated and organized its 1st Annual Festival in
1998. The Festival was initiated with the objective to bring to
North Vancouver unique outdoor and mountaineering films
that would otherwise not be seen in the city, and to bring
together communities of filmmakers and outdoor enthusiasts
in a forum where they can discuss topics of mutual interest.
Since 1998, VIMFF has evolved from a three-day event at one
venue with an audience of 1,700 to a 9-day event in 3 to 4
venues with live presentations, films, photography, live music,
and international film and photo competitions. Additionally,
VIMFF now travels to about 30 communities with the Best of

Boo!
Sursaut Dance Company
May 30th, 7:00pm
Yellowknife
“Boo! rekindles the urge to pirouette, to mime, and
to play at puppets with ones feet … We return to the
very roots of childhood play. Quite an achievement.”
(La Tribune, Sherbrooke)
Boo! Sursaut Dance Company
Vivacity, sensitivity and ingenuity in worlds where the
poetry of the body is at the fore. A rendez-vous with the
unexpected that will leave you smiling.
Boo! proposes eleven distinct choreographies. Each piece
offers a distinct and renewed movement style. For any
given venue, the artistic director composes a program of
4 to 5 choreographies (55-60 minutes), looking to create
a progression in the succession of the works, as well as to
establish a rhythm and flow that allows the audience to move
easily from one universe to another. This concept offers young
audiences a variety of choreographic proposals, and exposes
them to a range of contemporary dance in the same program.
This à la carte formula also allows for keeping in mind the
target audience and/or the technical conditions of the theatre
where the production will be presented when choosing the
program. Sursaut’s joyful and touching creations thrill
spectators young and old alike, everywhere they are presented.
