Day 1. Arrive Rio de Janiero, Brazil. Travel from your hometown for your flight to Brazil and your first stop in Rio de Janeiro. On arrival into Rio, you are metColonial and transferred to our hotel. Meet your Crossroads Goway Tour Director and the rest of the group this evening. Windsor Atlantica (3 nights) Chilean Explorer Day 2. Rio Mendoza de Janeiro. Explore Rio’s famous sites Connector on an encompassing city tour. Ascend Corcovado Amazonian Mountain through lush tropical forest to take in Encounter the up-close view of its famous statue of Christ the Redeemer along with the impressive panorama of the city. Then we take the cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain for a better appreciation of the city’s marvellous view. We continue our experience by exploring the city further and sampling some local Brazilian cuisine in a traditional salon. Tonight we cap off this epic day with dinner at Chef Orini’s Hotel Cipriani Restaurant - one of the most exclusive fine-dining experiences in Rio. BLD Day 3. Day trip to Petropolis. A short jaunt away is the imperial retreat Petropolis, a well preserved historic city in the cool mountains outside of Rio. Spend the day exploring the imperial palace of Dom Pedro II, take in the gothic architecture of the Cathedral, and the charming town itself. BL Day 4. Rio to Iguassu Falls Ð Brazilian Side. Travel south to one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world - Iguassu Falls. Taller and twice as wide as Niagara Falls, with 275 cascades over nearly two miles of the Iguassu River, the falls are actually within view and a stone’s throw away from our world-class acommodation at the Belmond Hotel. Embark on a guided walk along the catwalks that run along the Brazilian side of the falls. This evening we take in a colourful South American cultural show. Belmond Das Cataratas (2 nights) BD Day 5. Iguassu Falls Ð Argentina Side. Cross into Argentina and spend time exploring the falls from a different point of view. The Devil's Throat walkway passes over the massive amount of water just before the water’s descent. Upon return to our hotel in Brazil, there is also a chance to take an optional helicopter tour over the falls, or explore the natural wonder even further close up. B Day 6. Tango in Buenos Aires. We travel onward to the cosmopolitan capital, Buenos Aires. Take some time to stroll in the heart of the city before taking in one of Buenos Aires' most famous experiences – the impressive tango show. From the city waterfronts at the turn of last century to Piazzolla’s avant-garde vision, Tango remains Argentina’s premier musical art form. Cafe de Los Angelitos' Tango dancers, singers and band have been acclaimed as some of Argentina’s best. Sherton Buenos Aires (3 nights) BD Day 7. Hacienda visit, Gaucho Show, and Buenos Aires Wine tour. Visit a traditonal hacienda (ranch) in the fertile praries outside of the city. Take in folk songs and dances, equestrian activities, unbeatable shows of traditional gaucho skills, and sample typical dishes such as empanadas and the famed Argentine grill. Back in Buenos Aires we embark on an exclusive wine tour. We begin with a cool glass of Torrontés paired with local cheeses, continue to a hidden street art gallery for a Pinot Noir from Patagonia. Make a stop at a typical Palermo restaurant for a Malbec paired with a milanesa, a typical Argentine comfort food, and finish up at one of the best grill houses in the city for a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon paired with a small appetizer. BL Day 8. Buenos Aires Sightseeing. Take in many of the city’s marvels on a full day tour. Visit La Boca, a neighbourhood settled and built by Italian immigrants. Stop at the Casa Rosada, the presidential palace, and nearby Plaza de Mayo, and imagine Evita waving to the crowds from the balcony. Our next stop is Recoleta, a truly European and luxurious neighborhood that is packed with elegant restaurants, outdoor cafes, and exquisite shops. We also take some time to enjoy a coffee stop at the famous art-deco Café Tortoni in the heart of the city. B Day 9. Buenos Aires to Lima, Peru. We transfer to the international airport for our cross-contintenal flight to Peru, and the second half of our journey. Exploring Lima. First we visit the modern district of Miraflores and the pre-Inca pyramid of Huaca Huallamarca. Visit the home of a real Limean family in the exclusive district of San Isidro. The outing begins at the Koricancha Temple, an old Inca palace and main center for the worship of the sun god, Inti. When the Spanish conquered Peru, the Dominican order built a lovely church over top of this temple’s foundations: the church of Santo Domingo, which still stands there today. Next up, we visit the Inka Museum, a house built by Spanish Admiral Francisco Alderete Maldonado. The exhibits show Cusco’s history intertwined with the Inca past. The MAP (Pre-Colombian Art Museum) Restaurant in the patio of a colonial style home, will give us an in-kitchen cooking demonstration, showcasing some of the best traditional Andean dishes. The Sacred Valley of the Incas. Start off early this morning for Ollantaytambo, an Inca mountaintop site that served as a military, religious, and agricultural center. Look out over the town of the same name and see its incredibly narrow streets and canals, features that have not changed since the Inca constructed them. On the way to the town of Pisac, we visit Awanakancha, a store with exquisite Peruvian handicrafts and variety of fauna. A visit to the famous Pisac market will be a highlight of this day, as will a delicious lunch with a horse exhibition at Wayra ranch restaurant. Aranwa Sacred Valley BL Day 14. Machu Picchu. Awaiting us today is one of the world’s greatest wonders, Machu Picchu. We board the train that takes us down the scenic Sacred Valley. Situated two thousand feet above the rumbling river, our tour though the ruins includes every nook and cranny of this UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Cancellations received forty five (45) to sixty (60) days prior to departure will be levied a fee of 25% of the tour cost. Cancellations received thirty one (31) to forty four (44) days prior to departure will be levied a fee of 50% of the tour cost. Cancellations received thirty (30) days or less prior to departure will be levied a fee of 100% of the tour cost. Other specific supplier and airline cancellation penalties may apply in addition to cancellation and amendment fees charged by Goway. Cancellation of cruises received less than sixty (60) days prior to departure will incur a loss of 100% of the tour cost. There will be no refund for unused land arrangements. INSURANCE: All passengers are STRONGLY URGED to take out adequate insurance coverage to protect themselves against cancellation due to illness prior to or during travel. In the event of a traveller becoming ill during a tour, all hospital and medical expenses are the traveller’s responsibility and they shall not be entitled to any refund, either total or partial, of passage money paid.
