Annual Recognition Ceremony
Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 12:00 Noon - 1:30 p.m.
The Lodge in Des Peres, Missouri
Have you, or your child, participated in a recreation or leisure program
which you feel should be recognized for its outstanding offerings? Have you,
or your child, been served by a recreation provider, either a paid staff or a
volunteer, that stands out from the rest? Why not nominate them for a
Recreation Council award?
So few times do the recreation providers, agencies, volunteers, etc., get
recognized for the outstanding work they provide to individuals with
disabilities in specialized and/or community-based programs. Here is your
chance to recognize an agency or someone you feel has made an “outstanding”
impact in the area of leisure and recreation opportunities for individuals with
disabilities in our community. If you have any questions about the nomination
form or the event, please do not hesitate to contact our office at (314) 7266044. RSVP no later than March 11th! Nominate an organization or
individual TODAY, but no later than February 10th!
The 2013 Annual Recognition Ceremony Nomination Form
can be found on page 4.
2013 SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES GUIDE
Yes, our cooler late autumn weather is just a prelude to what is ahead of us in
terms of colder wintry days. Our thoughts turn now to the upcoming holidays
and possible snow days. It’s hard to believe that we, at the Recreation
Council, are already gathering next summer’s program and activity
information to include in our 2013 Summer Opportunities Guide.
This annual Guide highlights summer day and residential camps; teen
programs; adventure programs; sports and recreation programs; and much
more!
The Guide will be available, upon request only, or you can find it on our
website on February 1, 2013. If you are on our e-mail list serve you will be
notified of it’s availability and a link to access it through our website. If you
would like the Recreation Council to send you a copy of the 2013 Summer
Opportunities Guide, please call our office at 314-726-6044 and get on our
mailing list for this publication. Remember, summer programs fill up
quickly….plan ahead!!
An Evening of Entertainment:

Recreation Council of Greater St. Louis.
This event has been changed and will be held on Friday,
March 15, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the Maryland Heights Center, 2344 McKelvey

Discover Hippocampe, the leisure wheelchair that lets you enjoy outdoor activities to the fullest,
whatever the season. Imagine you are on a beach at the seaside. You can cross the sand, get over any
obstacles and go right into the sea. Hippocampe has undergone stringent testing to ensure full
compliance with safety standards conformity, resistance tests, endurance tests, etc. Well designed
yet recreational, it perfectly fits into the holiday environment. Collapsible, lightweight and nonbulky, you can take it anywhere in it's carryall. Now also comes with a snow ski attachment for winter fun as well. The Landeez All-Terrain
Wheelchair has 4 extra large wheels to provide superior tracking and stability on steeper slopes and is ideal for larger adults. The Landeez
glides graciously over sand, snow, gravel, and soft soils so you can come in closer contact with nature. Disassembles easily without tools and
weighs 37 lbs. The wheels come off and the chair folds for transportation. Call now, 314-726-6044, to reserve your date for either chair.
