Last Day of Camp
The Jackson YMCA is a great place for kids to spend the summer. Your child will
have fun, learn new skills, make new friends, appreciate diversity, and learn to appreciate the world more fully. With the YMCA located in downtown Jackson,
campers will be able to take full advantage of our family friendly facility and also
all of the great local parks that Jackson has to offer. Fun-filled field trips round
out the experience for everyone.
Safe Environment
Parents trust us with their most valuable possession - their children - and we take this responsibility very seriously. Staff members spend 30 hours prior to the camping season in training. All are trained in CPR, First Aid, child abuse prevention, antibullying, and half are lifeguards. All staff are trained in safety procedures for our building, pools, lakes, parks and other field
trips.
Highest Quality Staff
Staff are chosen for their leadership skills, safety consciousness, responsibility, and caring attitude towards children. More
than 75% of our staff, and 100% of our leadership staff return from summer to summer. References and past work experience
are thoroughly checked. Criminal background checks are conducted prior to hiring. The counselor to camper ratio varies by
age from 1:6 for Kiddie Campers, 1:8 for Pathfinders, and 1:10 for older campers.
How to Register
Popular weeks fill quickly, so register early. You must come into the YMCA to register. You can print registration forms from
our website to save time at www.jacksonYMCAcamp.webs.com. Only registrations which are completed in full, signed and
accompanied by appropriate fees will be processed.
Hours of Operation
The drop off for all day/non sports camps is between 7:00am-9:00am. We utilize a drive through drop off system in the alley off
of Franklin Street. Pick up for all day/non sports camps is between 5:00-6:00. Due of the amount of travel these camps do,
please prearrange with your camps senior or lead counselor for late drop off or early pick up. Sport camps drop off is 15
minutes prior to the start of camp and pick up is 15 minutes past the end of camp.
Registration Fee, Deposit and Late Fee
There is a one-time registration fee for all campers attending travel and specialty camp. The fee is $28
for the first child and $13 for any additional children. All families paying full price are eligible for a 10%
discount on 2nd, 3rd and 4th children. A non-refundable, non-transferable $10 deposit is required to reserve
any week of camp OR you can sign up to have your payment automatically drafted out of a checking, savings or
credit card. No deposit is required if you are going to be drafted. Full payment is required by 6pm the Thursday
before the week of attendance. If full payment is not made by Thursday, your
space may be given to someone on the waiting list. A $10 late fee will be assessed if full payment is not made Thursday by 6pm.
Cancellations, Changes and Refunds
Cancellations received seven days before the affected week will receive a full
refund, less the $10 deposit. Refunds requested after this time require a doctors
excuse. Once the week begins, no refunds, transfers or credits will be given.
Any changes must be made seven days prior to the week beginning.
“The YMCA has become a second family to us and I can honestly say that they have
all taken a part in helping my children to become the people they are today.”
-Mom of 3 campers
Financial Assistance
The YMCA offers financial assistance to those who may be in need of a reduction of fees. You may request a financial assistance application from the front desk. All applications must be submitted two weeks prior to the week your child will attend.
Children with Special Needs
Your child with special needs can enjoy summer in a fun and interactive environment. Our experienced staff will make your
child feel welcome and safe. All participants must have basic abilities and be able to function in a group setting. “One-on-one”
staffing will not be provided. Please call Katie to discuss your child’s needs.

Counselor in Training (CIT)
CIT’s are 14 or 15 year olds who have shown an interest in taking on a leadership role in our camp.
Counselors developed through the camper ranks
offer camps great value. The love and devotion for
a summer camp developed as a camper cannot be
matched. The Counselor In Training program is
designed for campers aged 14-15 who are interested in becoming a counselor in the future.
Our CITs will be given an orientation similar to that
given to our camp counselors. It will include classes
in age characteristics, counseling techniques,
group dynamics, organizational skills, basic first aid
and CPR training.
CITs will also receive hands-on experience working
with our younger campers under the direct supervision of our experienced counselors. The CIT participants will also design, plan and execute crafts,
games and morning announcements/skits.
CIT’s must be willing to commit to attending at
least 4 weeks of camp from 8:30am-5:00pm. If
interested please stop in by May 10 for an application packet.
