Origami is paper folding – often associated with Japan. Origami actually began in China around 100 AD. About 500 years later in 600 AD. Origami became popular among the Japanese. Long ago paper was expensive and not as easy to get ahold of so origami was done primarily by the wealthy. Despite the change in the availability and cost of paper, the Japanese are still thrifty and will use even small pieces of paper. Origami spread to England and the U.S. in 1900.
