To Whom It May Concern,
Having achieved many goals in the career of physical chemistry, I would like to
expand my professional horizons by seeking new challenges in the area of material
chemistry or surface science. I am interested in a postdoctoral position in your group
and have enclosed my Curriculum Vitae for your review and consideration.
The research areas in my postdoctoral position and Ph.D study are extensively
interdisciplinary. I have systematically grasped the preparation, characterization,
surface modification and catalytic applications of several nanomaterials. Now, I am
working on the fabrication and characterization of magnetic alloy nanoparticles, as a
postdoctoral fellow in Professor Edward Sacher and Professor Arthur Yelon’s
Laboratory, using Professor Sacher’s symmetric component peak XPS analysis
techniques. We have made big progress in our research project, and a series of
interesting results will appear in the forthcoming publications. I have been invited as
reviewer by several international journals, such as Applied Catalysis A: General,
Catalysis Communications, Journal of Solid State Chemistry, Chemical Engineering
Communications, and so on.
As a member of your organization, I can provide:

Maturity, honesty, ability to look at great challenges as great opportunities.
2
Materials for Postdoctoral Position Application

Enthusiastically hard work in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative
environment.

Ability to develop and lead a team.
My research interests include morphologically and/or dimensionally controlled
synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials, as well as investigation of the
relationships between their structures and properties (especially the relationship
between surface and catalytic properties). However, I wish to concentrate on theory or
experiment during the service for you given your requirements.
My fellowship will terminate at the end of this October, so I can come to you in
the end of 2010 or during the 2011 calendar year. Thank you for your consideration.
Greatly looking forward to hearing from you soon.
With best regards!
Sincerely yours,
Long Chen
