Ten Fundraising Tips
1. Set a fundraising goal for your team. Ask your friends to help you reach it. If each
person on your team asked their friends to donate $10, you can make a powerful
impact.
2. Use social networking pages to help you. Facebook, MySpace. This will help
raise money and awareness.
3. Letter writing campaign online or through the mail. We have a sample letter in our
packet to help you get started. You can include stamped self addressed envelopes
in your letters to make it easier for your friends and family to respond.
4. Explain your cause. Let them know you are raising money for a pre-screening tool
for ovarian cancer. If you have a personal connection, share it. You will be
helping to raise much needed awareness about the disease.
5. Share your online fundraising page thru email or facebook. You can include a link
to make it easier for people to donate online.
6. Hold an EVENT! Hold a car wash or bake sale to raise money for your team. You
will not only raise money but create lots of memories and laughs.
7. Dedicate a special occasion to girlygirl P.A.R.T.S fundraising. If you have a
birthday or anniversary ask people to make a donation instead of a gift.
8. Be persisitent and considerate. Make follow-up calls, send email notes or visit in
person to let people know how important this cause is to your team. Keep them
posted on your progress towards your team’s goal.
9. Always say “THANK YOU!” Whether they say yes or no. Thank them for their
generosity if they donate. Leave the door open for them to give in the future if
they say no.
10. Contact us if you need help:[email protected] or www.girlygirlparts.net

Sample fundraising letter
Dear________
On Saturday, September 27, 2014, about 1,000 women, men and children will participate in the
girlygirl P.A.R.T.S 5k Run/Walk. This event is being held to raise money for the research of a prescreening tool for ovarian cancer. All the money raised is allocated to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
for this purpose. This 5k will also raise awareness about ovarian cancer. I will be participating as a
member of (YOUR TEAM NAME) and my personal fundraising goal is $_____.
I am
running/walking in honor of ______. I would appreciate any support you are able to give me for this
cause.
Did you know:
*Ovarian cancer is the deadliest gynecologic cancer. It strikes more than 22,000 women in the
United States and kills approximately 15,000 each year.
*Currently, there is no early detection test for ovarian cancer.
*Most women with ovarian cancer (75%) are diagnosed after the disease has reached an advanced
stage (stage 3 or 4). The symptoms of ovarian cancer are vague or “silent”.
*Ovarian cancer usually cannot be detected during a routine pelvic exam or pap test.
girlygirl P.A.R.T.S (Pre-Screening, Awareness, Required, To, Silence) first successful event was
held in Sandwich, MA in 2009. Since then, the group has raised over $200,000 that has been
dedicated directly to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. There have been over 1,250 past participants
involved with the walk/run. It has generated funds and awareness to battle this silent disease.
I am proud to be a part of this powerful event. If a pre-screening tool became reality, we could
identify high risk women and take preventative action. This would save so many lives and so much
heartache.
Checks should be made payable to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Please include girlygirl P.A.R.T.S
5k in your memo. Donations are tax deductible. girlygirl P.A.R.T.S is a 501 3c organization.
I appreciate your consideration. I hope you have gained some awareness. If you have been inspired
to register to run or walk yourself, please visit www.active.com to register!
Sincerely,
