Covering the Canvas: Place 15"x18" fabric wrong side up. Center 11"x14" artist’s canvas wrong side up on top of fabric. Wrap the fabric to the back of the canvas, mitering corners, and tape raw edges of fabric onto the wooden frame. 2. Making the Letters: Refer to alphabet template (included inside Chunky Strip package) for instructions on tracing and fusing letters in place. Optional: Using a fine point contrasting marking pen, draw stitching lines around outer edges of letters. Position and fuse letters in place on canvas. 3. Making the Flowers: Cut one 5"x16" strip in half lengthwise to measure 2½"x16". Sew the two strips together at short ends and press seam in one direction. Diagram 1 16" 2½" 16" + Repeat to make two additional flowers. Following manufacturer’s instructions, cover three buttons using the 3" Fabric Quarter circles. Glue or hand sew buttons at the center of each flower. Position the three flowers where desired and glue onto fabric-covered canvas. 4. Making the Handle: Cut the one 5"x21" strip in half lengthwise, creating two 2½"x21" pieces. Sew short ends together end to end making one long strip. With right sides together, fold strip in half lengthwise and sew together using a 1/8" seam allowance and creating a tube. Using the tube turner, turn sewn strip to right side. Thread raw cording through the tube and gather fabric to fit. (Tip: A large safety pin can help assist feeding the cording through the tube.) Diagram 4 2½" 21" 21" + 2½" 2½" With wrong sides together, fold the long strip in half lengthwise and press. Sew a basting stitch 1/8" from the raw edge of strip and gather to measure approximately 20" long. Diagram 2 Machine stitch cording in place at each end of the handle. Trim excess cording. To attach handle, push a thumb tack through each end of the fabric handle and into the wooden frame on the back of the canvas. Diagram 5 Gather to measure 20" Fold one short end over 1/4" and then again another 1/4" to the back side and press. Beginning 1/2" in from the outer edge of one 3" circle, sew the gathered strip to the circle, continuing in a circular motion and ending at the center. Fold end to the back 1/4" twice and stitch in place. Diagram 3 Fold end under ¼" twice Created by Fabric Editions, Inc.
