Rennia, 47, responded by saying she plans to keep reaching out to
voters leading up to the general election. She said the primary
result was expected, while praising Drazen and Hickey for running
good campaigns.
“I just look forward to, hopefully now, getting into the issues,”
Rennia said, referring to a lack of detail involved in campaign
debates thus far.
David renewed his campaign pledge Tuesday to focus on

City resident William DeRose drove a massive recreational vehicle
covered in signs for Hickey around the city.

During a stop on Glenwood Avenue, DeRose honked the horn and
waved to passing cars, while a dog stuck its head out the window.
DeRose works for Hickey at the Belmar.

“I’m just out here reminding people to vote for Ed,” DeRose said.
Hickey’s campaign team gathered at the DoubleTree in downtown
Binghamton, where the candidate had a suite. Supporters busily
called voters from the hotel, while Hickey reflected on his first
political campaign .
“I’m kind of new to this, but it’s been a great summer,” he said.

Drazen noted he had several official poll watchers visiting sites
throughout the city, gauging turnout. Other campaign supporters
made phone calls to people who had yet to vote, while also
providing transportation for several voters, Drazen said.
Drazen’s family and supporters gathered at his Vermont Avenue
home to await results.
David’s campaign continued a weeklong effort to make phone calls
to Republican voters, he said, adding these calls continued until

ballot as the Conservative Party candidate.
Many of the polling sites appeared to see low turnout, with
numerous election officials reporting less than 30 voters casting
ballots as of 8 p.m.
Of the 6,173 registered Republicans in the city, 1,536 voters, or
nearly 25 percent, participated in the primary.

Joan Holleran, a city native, voted for David at Temple Concord on
Riverside Drive, which was among the busiest polling places all
day, according to election board officials. The synagogue had about
100 of its more than 200 registered voters cast ballots by 8 p.m.,
approaching 50 percent turnout.
“I’m concerned about the downtown’s economy and the condition of
the roads,” said Holleran, adding she believes David is the
candidate who will address those problems.
