You have choice...
Peter Tobin funerals offers a complete selection of funeral services, not
dependant on size, budget or beliefs, put simply we offer complete choice,
if there is an element or item you wish to include in the funeral service that
is not listed in this, or any of our guides, please don’t hesitate to discuss
it with a Peter Tobin Funerals Representative. We will do our very best to
ensure any wish can happen, as we are committed to providing exactly
what you and your family requires.
When arranging a funeral, if you have any financial concerns at all,
please discuss them with Peter Tobin Funerals staff who will discuss what
elements of the funeral process might have the greatest affect on the end
costs. Rest assured that whatever decision you make regarding any funeral,
you are assured of the exceptional level of service and care that has made
Peter Tobin Funerals, Ballarat’s preferred funeral service provider.
GENERAL PRICE LIST
Pre Paid Funerals
(Effective 1.8.2007) All prices GST inclusive.
In addition to all other costs an administration fee of $195 will
apply to all pre paid funerals.
SERVICE FEES
A staff member is available to consult with families regarding
their funeral arrangements 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
This may include, but is not limited to: co ordinating the initial
transfer from place of death; obtaining information to register
the death with Births, Deaths and Marriages; liaising with the
cemetery and/or crematorium, clergy or celebrant; obtaining
necessary certificates from doctors or the coroner; preparation
and placement of newspaper notices; overseeing all other staff
functions necessary to implement arrangements and liaising
and co ordinating with other third parties who may be providing
additional services.

TRANSFER FEES
Transfer fees are included in our service fees on all transfers
carried out between normal business hours and within our
normal operating area (generally a 50 km radius of Ballarat).
Transfers outside these times and areas are subject to
additional fees.
Funerals conducted outside our normal operating area will also
be subject to transfer fees.

Essential Care Service
A basic funeral service used to assist families to reduce funeral
costs. It does not include mortuary care and attendance for
viewings, memorial attendance books, mourning car, an audio
recording of the service or the use of our centre for refreshments.
These items are available at additional cost.
MORTUARY AND EMBALMING FEES
The preparation of the body is an important service carried out by
the funeral director. Preparation costs are included in our service
fees except in the case of essential care services where an additional
charge is made for those families who choose this service.

Traditional Single Service
A single service funeral, usually associated with cremations,
conducted either at the church of your choice or the Doveton
Park Funeral Centre with no attendance by family at the
crematorium, or a service at the Ballarat Crematorium Chapel
only. Alternatively a burial or cremation unattended by family,
can take place before or after a memorial service.
Traditional Dual Service

Funeral service conducted at the church of your choice or
the Doveton Park Funeral Centre followed by a second service
at the grave side or crematorium. Alternatively a burial or
cremation attended by family, can take place before or after
a memorial service.
Memorial Service

Memorial service conducted at the church of your choice or the
Doveton Park Funeral Centre where there is no requirement for
Peter Tobin Funerals to attend to the deceased. For example,
where the burial or cremation has already taken place elsewhere
by another funeral director or at an earlier date.

Orders of service are presented on heavier grade, gloss white
paper. Other colours or grades may be available at additional
cost. Colour copies are also available at additional cost. Prices

CASKETS & COFFINS
Scan and/or download photos and music to VCD or DVD for
presentation in our chapel.
Choosing a casket or a coffin can be difficult but is an important
part of the funeral arrangement. Peter Tobin Funerals offers
a range of coffins and caskets to suit the wishes of you and
your family. The main difference between a casket and a coffin
is one of design. Whereas the coffin is tapered at the head
and the foot the casket is basically rectangular. Both the coffin
and the casket come with different design components and in
different materials.

COMMON DISBURSEMENTS
Disbursements are fees for goods and services commonly
associated with funerals which we pay on your behalf. Please
note that this is not an exhaustive list and are indicative fees
only - the fees can and will vary considerably.
Communication is important between your family and
your funeral director with regard to all aspects of a funeral
arrangement. This also includes a clear understanding of our
financial policy.
At the end of the initial funeral arrangements, our arranger
will give you an estimate of costs for the funeral and briefly
explain our financial policy. The estimate is provided to avoid
any misunderstandings but is an estimate only and not a final
account. Often during arrangements some costs may not be
known and may only be included in the final account. This is
unfortunate but cannot be helped.
This document will explain our policy in more detail but if you
have any further queries regarding costs you are welcome to
contact us at any time.
Our final funeral account will be issued to your family 7 days
following the funeral and will include not only our fees but all
fees we have paid on your behalf. We ask that the account be
settled within 10 days of receiving it. There will be a due by date
clearly marked on the account and accompanying letter. The
account may be settled by either cash, cheque payable to Peter
Tobin Funerals, credit card, EFTPOS or direct debit (bank details
will be supplied).

We understand that making funeral arrangements can be a
difficult task and your family may not be well prepared. If
there are going to be difficulties with payment or a delay, we
endeavour to accommodate your family’s requirements. We
would be grateful if you would advise us prior to the funeral
arrangements or as soon as possible. Interest will be charged
on accounts that are outstanding for over 30 days from the
date of invoice.
