NOTICE OF RACE
Liability Disclaimer: Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. The skipper, owner and crew agree to
assume all risks of participating in this regatta. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. I have read and understand and hereby agree to be
bound by the “USSA Racing Rules of Sailing and any other rules and instructions that govern this regatta. I hereby warrant that my
yacht will be outfitted, equipped, and handled in accordance with these rules, that my yacht shall have all required equipment
aboard, and shall be seaworthy in hull, rig, and gear, and shall be competently manned. The owner, skipper and crew and any
participant or in the case of minors, such minors parent or guardian, agree that the race organizers (the organizing authority, race
committee, host club, officers, sponsors, or any other organization or official associated with the regatta) shall not be responsible for
any damage whatsoever to any boat or other property or any injury to any participant, including death, sustained as a result of or
arising from participation in this regatta and related events. By participating in this regatta and related events, the owner, skipper and
crew and any participant or in the case of minors, such minors parent or guardian, agree to and hereby release the race organizers
from any damage or injury to any boat or any competitor whatsoever and all liability associated with such participant’s participation
in this regatta and related events to the fullest extent permitted by law.

outside patio of the Naples Boat Club on Saturday and Sunday and at the Naples

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in 2013-2016 Racing Rules of
Sailing (RRS), the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions. Applicable class
rules of the West Florida Performance Handicap Racing Federation (WFPHRF)
will apply. This is a WFPHRF BOTY event, and will be scored accordingly.
Equipment Rules of Sailing will apply.
The following RRS are to be amended; 29.1 (individual recalls), 30 (starting
penalties), 35 (establishes time limits); 60.1(b) (redress), 62.1(a) (redress), and
Appendix A (scoring)
Class rules will apply.
2. ELIGIBILITY:

Open to all Multi-hull and self-righting single-hulled enclosed cabin sailboats that
conform to their class rules and hold a valid West Florida PHRF (WFPHRF)
rating. Boats not currently holding WFPHRF certificates should make proper
arrangements by logging onto: http://www.westfloridaphrf.org/
One Design class must meet the obligations of such Class Rules and their National
Authority.
A minimum of three (3) will constitute a class. The Race Committee (RC), at its
discretion, may consolidate or further divide the classes or the starts depending on
the number of entries received. Final class designations will be announced at the
Skippers meeting on Friday March 28th at the Naples Sailing & Yacht Club.
Boat owners who are not members of WFPHRF will need to apply to WFPHRF
for a rating.
The Boat owner must be a member in good standing of a Sailing Club.
3. ENTREES AND FEES:
3.1
The EARLY ENTRY FEE to participate in The Southwest Florida Porsche Cup is
$115 for members of US Sailing (USS) or $130 for non-USS members for entries
received by March 7, 2014.
The LATE ENTRY FEE after Friday, March 7th, is $130 for members of US
Sailing (USS) or $150 for non-USS members.
DEADLINE for all entries is March 21, 2014

The entry fee includes Two (2) admissions to any event of the skipper’s choice.
The details of events and costs are provided in the ENTRY FORM

4. START SEQUENCES
4.1
4.2
The RC may, as a courtesy and not an obligation, broadcast announcements on
VHF radio to aid in the administration of the races. Racers are encouraged to
monitor their VHF radio before and continuously during the race for possible
announcements.
Classes may be further divided or starts combined at the discretion of the RC
depending on the number of entries received. Final class designations will be
announced at the Skipper’s meeting on Friday night. The starting order and
Warning Signal Class Flags for the first bouy race on Saturday shall be announced
at the skippers meeting and/or emailed as an addendum to this NOR.

5. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:
5.1
Sailing Instructions (SI’s) will be provided at the Friday night Skipper’s Meeting.
6. MEASUREMENT: One Design Class:

Each One design Class boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate
before the close of registration.
The Organizing Authority shall not be responsible for conducting any weigh-in,
measurement or inspection of any boat and or her equipment and sails before,
during or after the races. There will not be any initial measurement
7. AWARDS:
7.1
The number of trophies awarded per class will be based on the number of boats
entered in that class. For 3 boats-1 trophy awarded, 5 boats-2 trophies awarded and
6+ boats-3 trophies awarded.
8. RACING AREA:
8.1
The Racing Area will be located approximately 1 mile West of Naples Municipal
Pier.
9. COURSES:
9.1
The course to be sailed, the bearing, and approximate distance to the first mark,
will be posted on the course board displayed on the Race Committee Signal Boat.
Possible course layouts will be depicted in Addendum “A” of the Sailing
Instructions.
10. SCORING:
10.1
One race will constitute the regatta and no score will be excluded. This changes
RRS A2.
10.2 This event will be scored using RRS Appendix “A” the low point system.
Corrected times shall be calculated based on the boat's WFPHRF rating (or
assigned rating), the distance of the course sailed, and the actual elapsed time in
which the course was sailed (time on distance).
10.3 WFPHRF’s RLC rating shall be used for all races in which less than approximately
75% of the total distance of the course requires the boats to either tack or gybe. For
races of 75% or greater, the BUOY rating shall be used. If there is any doubt, the
RLC rating shall be used. The PRO is solely responsible for determining which

rating category is used and the decision may not be appealed through redress. This
amends RRS #60.1(b).
11. RADIO COMMUNICATION:
11.1 While racing, a boat shall not receive radio nor cell-phone transmissions that are
not available to all boats, except for an emergency or as required by the Sailing
Instructions.
