The Church at Worship Second Sunday of Easter United Methodist Women Sunday
The Church at Worship The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; I have a glorious heritage. I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the LORD always before me; the LORD is at my right hand; I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also dwells secure. For you do not give me up to Sheol, or let your godly one see the pit You show me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy, in your right hand are pleasures for evermore. April 27 11:00 A.M. Thanks! , NO 9:00 A.M. WORSHIP SERVICE Dr. Joe Buck IV Pastor [email protected] In Our Prayers You always have to be careful when you begin a statement with, “I know we have never done it this way before, but...” I did such a thing just a few months ago. Even though it is not designated by the United Methodist Church, UMW Sunday is usually celebrated on the second Sunday in March, which was the second Sunday in Lent this year. Because I had planned a sermon series for Lent, I said, “I know we have never done it this way before, but...” So, this year we did something different, and, in fact, we are doing it this Sunday. We are celebrating UMW Sunday this week, and the UMW will be running the entire worship service at 11:00 a.m. We will not have a 9:00 a.m. service this week as all of our attention will be on the UMW in one service; Sunday school will be at 10:00 a.m. UMW members will be leading worship, playing the organ, teaching the children's sermon, ushering, and I will be participating some as well being that I am designated by The Discipline as a member of the UMW. You do not have to be a UMW member to recognize the tremendous contribution of the women of the UMW. They do so much good in our church, in the community, and around the world. We are celebrating the women of the church this Sunday, so if you don't like women, then don't come to church. Or, to put it another way, if you don't come to worship this Sunday, we will all just assume you don't like women. Seriously, we should all make an effort to be in worship this Sunday to celebrate the UMW. UMW Sunday only comes once a year, and this year it is this Sunday. See you there! Blessings to you, Joe
