As the only agency in San Diego County designated by the courts to provide CASA volunteers, Voices for Children has a vision called Serve Every Child: to provide a CASA to every foster child who needs one. Job Description: OVERVIEW This position serves as the Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator in order to: (1) ensure that volunteers are recruited to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) in support of Voices for Children’s Serve Every Child long-range strategic plan to provide a CASA for every child who needs one; (2) assist with the community outreach efforts for the organization to promote the CASA Program, as well as the mission and vision of Voices for Children; and, (3) assist with the screening of applicants to the CASA Program. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: • Assist with the development and implementation of a volunteer recruitment plan to increase the number of CASAs • Coordinate volunteer engagement and activities with the Outreach Team to expand VFC’s outreach and recruitment efforts; track volunteer interest and participation in this team’s activities; maintain regular communication with Outreach Team members • Facilitate Outreach Team meetings and trainings, including scheduling, preparation of agendas, and maintenance of minutes • Facilitate volunteer Information Sessions; coordinate staffing schedule to include VFC staff and volunteer greeters and guest speakers from the Outreach Team • Coordinate outreach to schedule presentations and presence at events for volunteer recruitment; represent VFC at such community events and coordinate volunteer representation from the Outreach Team • Build partnerships with community groups and organizations to reach out to potential volunteers from different segments of the population • Develop recruitment materials and text with Director of Volunteer Recruitment (e.g., for e-blasts, social media posts, webpages, volunteer opportunity listings) • Participate in screening of applicants to the CASA Program through review of volunteer applications and conducting initial interviews • Assist with responses to volunteer inquiries, as needed • Maintain accurate volunteer recruitment files, activity reports, and database records Member of the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association • • Process and analyze volunteer database reports All other duties as assigned by the President/CEO or Director of Volunteer Recruitment Job Qualifications: REQUIRED SKILLS Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills Must be flexible, well-organized, and able to manage different projects concurrently, often under pressure; able to set priorities and manage time effectively Must be willing to work in a team environment Proficiency with current Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook Familiarity and facility with Internet technology, including websites and social networking Experience in the use of basic office equipment (computers, copiers, printers, postage meter, fax machine, etc.) Must have pleasant, friendly, and professional manner Must be able to deal effectively, diplomatically, and tactfully with Board members, volunteer leaders, donors, and other support constituencies, vendors, and the general public Must be detail-oriented, with the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines, work harmoniously and cooperatively with other staff, deal well with volunteers and community members, maintain standards of confidentiality and discretion, and interact appropriately with high-level donors and patrons EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS A Bachelor’s degree is preferred At least two years’ experience in volunteer management (especially volunteer recruitment), community outreach, HR recruitment, community organizing, social work, program development, or related field in the public and/or nonprofit sector Must have access to an automobile for local travel; valid driver's license and automobile insurance required As with all VFC employees, the candidate must meet the background-screening requirements of the agency Additional Info: WORK SCHEDULE Full-time, non-exempt position.
