Hali Boot Cuffs

I made these boot cuffs for my sister Shannon who lives in Halifax, Nova
Scotia (hence the name HALI).
Being an ocean-side city, the weather tends to be on the cool side, even in
Spring and Autumn, so these boot cuffs are wonderful for keeping legs
warm even when wearing a skirt or leggings.
These cuffs are designed to be worn with the long portion of ribbing inside
the boot, but you could reverse them if you wanted more ribbing at the top.
These boot cuffs are fashionable, cozy and versatile!
Gauge: 26 sts=4” in cable pattern with larger needles
*Take time to check gauge to ensure proper fit*
Finished Measurements: 11” around; 6” in height
Materials:




worsted weight wool
set of size 7 Double Pointed Needles (DPNs) or size needed to obtain gauge
set of size 8 Double Pointed Needles (DPNs) or size needed to obtain gauge
darning needle for sewing in ends
Pattern Notes:
Cuff is designed to fit with several inches of negative ease. Pattern is very stretchy and
will accommodate most average calf circumferences.
For larger or smaller boot cuffs, increase or decrease number of stitches in multiples of
4 stitches. Each 4 stitch increase or decrease will add/deduct 0.75” from the final
garment.
Abbreviations:
St(s)=stitch(es)
K=knit
P=purl
K2tog=knit 2 sts together
Rep=repeat
Cuffs (make 2):
With smaller needles cast on 76 sts.
Being careful not to twist stitches, join in the round and work K2, P2 ribbing until piece
measures 1.5 inches.
Switch to larger needles. Begin cable pattern as follows:
Round 1: *(K2tog but do not slip sts off left needle, k into first st again then slip
both sts off left needle), p2. Rep from * around
Round 2: (k2, p2) around
Repeat rounds (1 and 2) 10 more times (11 pattern repeats total)
Switch to smaller needles. Work 8 rounds of k2 p2 ribbing.
Bind off in pattern and sew in ends.
