YWLA 6th-8th grade Dress Code To enhance a dynamic learning experience that encourages critical thinking, inspires confidence and nurtures the intellectual and social development necessary for success in college, career and life the following Dress Code applies to 6th-8th grade students of the Young Women's Leadership Academy. Standardized Dress on most days: ID badge must be worn at all times (lanyard may be any color or pattern) Appropriate fitting khaki or black pants or finger-tip length skirts or shorts o No jeggings or tight-fitting skinny jeans Solid red, white, or black collared shirts (no t-shirts) o Lettering and logos on shirts may total no more than the size of a quarter YWLA Jacket/Hoodie ($25) or solid Black outerwear (such as sweaters, sweatshirts, and jackets) o No Lettering and logos outerwear with the exception of YWLA Jacket Solid black or white tennis shoes, black or white shoe laces. Tennis shoes with a combination of black, white, and/or brown are acceptable. Solid black, white, or dark brown dress shoes (brown Sperry type are also acceptable) Dress shoes with a combination of black, white, and/or brown are acceptable. Black or brown ankle boots- must look professional (Ugg-type boots not allowed) Students are not required to wear a belt, but black or brown solid colored belts (no studs) are allowed Appropriate hairstyles (no unnatural color) Appropriate jewelry (no facial piercings or industrial bars) Spirit Days – 2014-2015 YWLA Spirit T-shirt ($10) Free Dress Days will be earned by reaching leadership goals Athletics/PE- Spirit t-shirt or white t-shirt, black shorts, tennis shoes Dance – Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet flats Leadership Outings for the Leadership Elective class will be professional dress or school standardized dress. This will be discussed as part of the Leadership class. Examples of Appropriate Dress for 6th -8th grade: High School YWLA HS 9th-12th grade Dress Code To help our students prepare for their future career environment and promote confidence and leadership the following Dress Code applies to 9th-12th grade students of the Young Women's Leadership Academy. Examples are based on dress expectations in a corporate financial company environment. Business Casual Professional Dress on most days: ID badge must be worn at all times (lanyard may be any color or pattern) Appropriately fitting slacks, capris, finger-tip length skirts, finger-tip length dress shorts of any color or pattern Appropriately fitting dress shirts of any color of pattern (no mid-drift or cleavage showing) Appropriately fitting dresses that are at least finger-tip length (not tight) Closed or open toed dress shoes or dress sandals of any color or pattern (no flip flops) Professional boots no higher than knee (no ugg-type boots) Solid colored leggings may only be worn with a dress or professional style long tunic (finger-tip length, no see-through fabric) Sweaters or cardigans are acceptable (no sweatshirts or hoodies) Attire that is considered unprofessional Flip flops T-shirts Shirts with risqué phrases Spaghetti strap tops or sleeveless tops with straps less than 3 fingers width Sweat shirts/hoodies Jeans with holes HS Spirit Day Dress HS Spirit Shirt with solid blue jeans and choice of shoes College Visit Dress Will be determined by College Bound Advisor Guides for business casual dress: http://youngpolishedandprofessional.blogspot.com/2012/10/business-casual-mostcommon-and-most.html http://smallbusiness.chron.com/guide-business-casual-dress-women-24099.html http://laurenconrad.com/blog/2011/09/dress-coding-business-casual/ Examples of Appropriate Dress for 9th-12th grade: Examples only…high heels not recommended
