They are familiar with all relevant safety rules and regulations and are physically capable of performing their assigned tasks. Description The EcoBead Programmer allows the user to connect the EcoBead Inline Pattern Generator to a computer, allowing the user to program up to 20 custom bead patterns and modify default settings. USB Connector E 2013 Nordson Corporation Female Connector Part 1121624_01 2 EcoBeadt Programmer Installation Installation is a two-step process: 1. EcoBead software 2. EcoBead Pattern Generator device driver NOTE: You must install the EcoBead software before installing the Pattern Generator device driver. NOTE: You must have user administration rights to your computer or PLC in order to be able to install this equipment. EcoBead Software Installation 1. Insert the EcoBead Programmer Software CD into your computer, and then follow the instructions to complete the installation. NOTE: If the installation program does not run automatically, open Windows Explorer, go to the Installation CD and double-click on the file EcoBeadProgrammerSetup.exe. 2. When done, the EcoBead Programmer appears. Close the application. 3. Proceed to the EcoBead Programmer Pattern Generator Device Driver Installation. Part 1121624_01 E 2013 Nordson Corporation EcoBeadt Programmer 3 Install the EcoBead Programmer Pattern Generator Device Driver 1. Connect the EcoBead Programmer into the USB port on your computer. The Found new Hardware wizard screen appears. EcoBead Programmer PC USB Connector Female Connector 2. Click Next to continue. 3. Select Install the software automatically (recommended). The install program will automatically locate and install the EcoBead Programmer driver. NOTE: If the system cannot locate the EcoBead Programmer device driver, select Install from a list or specific location. Navigate to the CD drive letter where you inserted the CD and click Next. The install program will locate and install the EcoBead Programmer device driver. 4. Click Finish. E 2013 Nordson Corporation Part 1121624_01 4 EcoBeadt Programmer Using the EcoBead Programmer The EcoBead programmer application allows you to do the following: S S S S S Part 1121624_01 Create a new pattern program Modify default EcoBead settings Modify an existing pattern program Save to either disk or to the EcoBead Pattern Generator Open/load an existing pattern program from either a disk or from the EcoBead Inline Pattern Generator. Connect the EcoBead Inline Pattern Generator to the EcoBead Programmer, and then connect the Programmer to your PC. Min.: 0.5% Default: 5% Max.: 20% B The minimum amount of time the applicator can be “ON” to dispense a bead within a pattern. Min.: 2 ms Default: 10 ms Max: 1000 ms C The number of beads in the input pattern before the pattern repeats. Min.: 2 beads Default: 10 beads Max.: 1000 beads D The minimum amount of time the applicator can be “OFF” to create a bead within a pattern. Refer to the following table for column descriptions. Parameter Description No. S The first digit refers to the first * on the EcoBead Inline Pattern Generator. S The second digit refers to the second ** on the EcoBead Inline Pattern Generator. S Together, these two digits identify the program number. LeaderTrailer% Enter as a percent of the input bead the length for the leading and trailing bead in a pattern. Output ON Pulse % Enter as a percent of the input bead the amount of time the applicator will be “ON” to dispense a bead within a pattern. Saving Enter as a percent of the input bead the total amount of adhesive savings you want for this pattern. Signal Visual representation of the pattern. NOTE: You cannot make changes in this column. Last Column S A green check mark appears if the pattern works within defined parameters. S A yellow X appears if the pattern cannot be created within defined parameters. 6. Decide where you want to save this pattern. Click Save to EcoBead or Save to Disk. EcoBead setup files are saved with a .EDF file extension. 7. Click Exit when done. NOTE: You cannot delete a pattern, rather just override it. E 2013 Nordson Corporation Part 1121624_01 8 EcoBeadt Programmer Running a Custom EcoBead Pattern 1. Connect the EcoBead Inline Pattern Generator to your applicator. 2. Using a small screwdriver, point to the appropriate custom program channel and program number you want to use.
