Needles
A pair 4.00mm (US 6), (UK 8) Knitting Needles
or size that gives correct tension/gauge.
Materials
A Yarn Needle; A Cable Needle.
TENSION/gauge
20 sts and 37 rows to 10 cm/4 ins over moss st,
using 4.00mm (US 6), (UK 8) Knitting Needles.
Note - Correct tension/gauge is essential for a
successful handknit.
Abbreviations
St/s - stitch/es, K - Knit, P - Purl, WS - wrong
side, RS - right side, garter st - every row knit,
inc - increase, rep - repeat, beg - begin/ning,
patt - pattern, cont - continue, sl - slip, K2tog
- knit 2 sts together, psso - pass slipped st over.
3rd row - K1, (P1, K1) 3 times, * Cable, K1, (P1,
K1) 3 times, rep from * to end.
4th row - As 2nd row.
Rep 1st and 2nd rows once.
Last 6 rows form patt.
Cont in patt until work measures approx 77
cms/31 ins from beg, ending with a 4th patt
row.
Next row - Moss 7, * K1, sl 1, K2tog, psso,
K2tog, K2, moss 7, rep from * to end = 91 sts.
Knit 13 rows garter st. Cast/bind off loosely
knitways.
Side Edgings
With RS facing and using 4.00mm needles,
knit up 160 sts evenly along one side edge of
Blanket.
Knit 12 rows garter st.
Cast/bind off loosely knitways.
Rep along other side edge of Blanket.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Using yarn needle, darn in
ends.
SPECIAL ABBREVIATION
Cable - slip next 4 sts onto cable needle and
leave at front of work, K4, then K4 from cable
needle.
CREATE
Blanket
Using 4.00mm (US 6), (UK 8) Needles, cast on 91
sts.
Knit 12 rows garter st (1st row is WS).
13th row - K7, * K1, inc once in each of next 3
sts, K8, rep from * to end = 112 sts.
Beg patt - 1st row (RS) - K1, (P1, K1) 3 times,
* K9, (P1, K1) 3 times, rep from * to end.
2nd row - K1, (P1, K1) 3 times, * P8, K1, (P1,
K1) 3 times, rep from * to end.
