Welcome to the 28th Annual Gifft Hill School Auction! We are so grateful
that you have chosen to be a part of this special evening for our school and its
students. The Auction’s return to Caneel Bay has inspired nostalgic reminiscences
of the event’s past, and while the Auction and school have grown since we last
raised our paddles in this location, many truths remain. Gifft Hill School plays a
crucial role on our island, and the support of our wonderful community ensures
the success of our school and its students. Tonight you are surrounded by the
beauty of St. John, both its physical beauty and that of the people who make up
this diverse and close-knit community. Our island and our school are unique in
this world, exceptional, and we should all be proud of and grateful for this place
and life we share here.
Tonight is a celebration of our history and our future, a time to reconnect with old
friends and make new ones, and a fun way to impact the lives of our children.

6. BVI Sailing Charter - The successful bidder on this package, along with up to 7 of their

friends, will begin this voyage in Road Town, Tortola. You will be greeted at the marina by your private
captain and board one of the world’s most spectacular sailing yachts,TheFlyingViking. Once boarded,
you and your party will set sail to experience what sailors the world over call “Nature’s Little Secrets”, the
British Virgin Islands. This trip is for 4 days and 3 nights, although you may add days for an extra cost. Leading from behind has gotten a lot of bad press over the years, and I think
this is unfair. If you “wish to live to fight another day,” very few strategies rival
placing your men on the front line while you look on from the rear. Everyone
remembers general George Pickett from that fateful day at Gettysburg, but how
many know that General Longstreet actually ordered the assault? Who would
you rather be in the history books? Taking full responsibility, on the surface of
things, seems like a stand-up way to do things, but one should always assess
the risks associated with painting themselves into THAT little box.
The Flying Viking is a 2014 Jeanneau 53 foot sailing yacht. The French-made luxury cruiser boasts
great sailing capabilities, is super comfortable, yet fast enough to take you wherever your heart
desires in the BVI. There are 5 cabins---two aft cabins with double beds, one double bunk bed
cabin, one over-sized owner’s cabin, and a single bed skipper cabin for the Captain, separated
from the rest. The boat boasts a Bose sound system with Bluetooth connections, a large saloon area
that can be turned into an extra double bed if needed, or just used as a gathering area for meals. There’s something to be learned everyday
Occasionally our clients come up with creative new ways to solve age old
building problems. We welcome such suggestions and use them when we can
in the day-to-day execution of our work. While it’s true that these suggestions
are typically met with quiet ridicule in the office, often related over lunchtime
martini’s and accompanied by sardonic laughter, we still encourage the free
flow of ideas, just usually from us to you.
Your captain will be happy to provide professional hands-on instruction in navigation and sailing.
The basic necessities are included, as is all diesel fuel, cleaning fees, and harbor fees. This package
does not include food and drinks or gratuity for your captain. This trip is valid for 2 years from date
of purchase and is non-refundable and non-transferable. Sailing season is November 1st through
