Knit-Togethers are wonderful. We have light refreshments and heavy-duty
fun. Stop by for a few minutes or a few hours. Bring a friend. Children over
age 12 are also welcome. You can never have too many knitters, crocheters,
or (if Ellen is in the house) spinners -- or needle pointers, cross-stitchers or
other fiber folk, for that matter! Even if you’ve never used a knitting needle
or crochet hook or spinning wheel, please join us. Discover how delightful
working with yarns and fibers can be! We ask for $10 to help offset the costs
of our expert helpers and the goodies ... PLUS you get 10% off on any fullprice merchandise purchased during the Knit-Together! For Knit-Togethers,
we don’t ask that you buy yarn at Artisan Knitworks, though we hope that
you’ll eventually succumb.

Amazing Knitted Log-Cabin Squares!
Sunday, August 3 & 10, 1:30-4:30
In this liberating course, you will pick up your knitting needles, cast on
a few stitches, and create gorgeous square shapes that can be
organized to make jackets, shawls, popover tops, pockets, tote bags,
children’s pullovers – on and on. You also can use up yarn scraps. All
you need to know how to do is the knit stitch and the pick-up-and-knit
technique. It might be helpful to know how to do a crocheted chain
and single crochet, but if you don’t, we won’t hold it against you!
Bring a pile of leftover yarns in roughly the same weight (DK or
worsted weight yarns are best, but fingering can be doubled, and
chunky yarns can be worked in for texture). We will have piles of
additional yarns. Remember to bring mostly vegetable or mostly
animal; mix textures with abandon; and prepare to have fun. Tools:
Knitting needles appropriate to the yarn weight, crochet hook
appropriate to yarn weight, tapestry needle. $35 for 2 sessions,
including a 10% discount on all full price merchandise during the
event and access to the pile of shop yarns. Base yarn for jackets must
be purchased at Artisan Knitworks.
Design Your Dream Sweater
S UNDAY JULY 13 & 20, 1PM – 4 PM
In this course, you will learn how to draft and knit a sweater for which
you haven’t been able to find the perfect pattern, or you can alter a
pattern that you almost entirely like. This is Sandra’s favorite class –
she thinks it’s the most useful thing you can ever do. You will be able
to make garments that fit you perfectly forever! Or you can take the
first step toward creating original garments. Homework: None.
Materials: Bring a yarn to work with (maybe a yarn that you want to
make a sweater out of), patterns that you want to alter, a pad of
paper and pencil/pen, graph paper (standard ¼-inch grid, not knitter’s
paper), and a tape measure. $45 for 3 sessions includes a 10%
discount on all full priced merchandise during the event. Yarn used for
this class must be purchased from Artisan Knitworks.
 All non-recurring classes require advance registration. Last day
registration may be possible. Just call.

Orkney Vest AGAIN!
 Sat, August 2, 9 & 16, 2pm - 4pm
We had so much fun the first time we are doing it again! If you haven’t seen
it yet, come on in to browse. Make a wonderful vest and learn how to
use modular shapes, in this case triangles. You can also add sleeves.
Three different patterns (free) include directions for three weights of
yarn (2.5 sts, 3.5 sts, and 4.5 stitches per inch). Homework: Make a 4
X 4 inch swatch of your chosen yarn in garter stitch to determine
gauge; bring needles that yield a fabric that you like (not too tight, not
droopy). Eventually you will need 3-5 buttons. Yarn for this class must
be purchased from Artisan Knitworks. Three sessions $45, free pattern.
Bring swatch and a range of needles in case we have to alter the gauge, plus
a notebook.
