This year I’m sending out holiday cards designed by model Kirsty Hume for Cocodot. I
love the tartan and Celtic themes she came up with, as they are so right for the winter
months. Here’s a link to their pricing depending on the number of cards you’d like to print.
To make your Holiday cards even more personal this year, the US Postal Service suggests
several services for making your own stamp. Upload the image of your choice to create
your own standard 42¢ stamps.

Jan Eleni, an interior designer based in Brooklyn, creates collages with your children’s
artwork. Send between 40 and 112 of your kids’ masterpieces her way and she will return a
modern grid of their work that looks great in any room. This is a great gift for parents and
grandparents alike. Framed original collages are available, as are unframed Archival
Pigmented prints for which the prices are the following:

The Old Village Hall has taken the classic personalized boat bag to the next level by silkscreening it with the image of your choice ($150). Artist and owner, Scott Hill’s trademark
screens have a rustic old-timey edge to them, which make his products even more unique.
His custom pillows ($250) also make a great gift. If you’re buying more than six, (say, for
several family members) the price goes down to $225 each.
Vicente Agor is a San Francisco-based jewelry designer. His custom silhouette pendants
are a good gift for a mom, friend, or other half and make a great keepsake. Send in a
profile of a loved one and Vicente will create a silhouette on the metal of your choice.
Prices start at $310 for the sterling silver.
iomoi has the most complete array of options I’ve seen for personalizing anything from
stationery ($68) to a bag (from $88), an iPad case ($98), a set of 50 calling cards ($68),
cuff-bracelet ($98), paperweight ($68) or tray ($100). The list goes on and on, and the
bright design options for the monograms are infinite.
Lori Danelle makes a different kind of portrait—paper-cut fingerprints. Send her a
fingerprint and she will reproduce it faithfully. Prices start at $150 for a single fingerprint
and go up to $475 for double prints with text. Her double prints are a sweet
commemoration for couples.
A lucky Etsy find, this is a great gift for the home cook; Vanessa Ottenbreit designs
personalized recipe cards that come in an assortment of styles. For $15 she designs a
custom card, in the style and colors of your choice. The final result comes as a highresolution PDF, which you can print as many copies of as you need. For $30, you can have
50 cards of your custom design printed.
A few months ago I received this candle from Le Labo and I held onto the idea for this
very newsletter. I loved the subtle personalization on the candle and on the box it comes in.
You can choose from 7 scents and write the name you want on the label so it’s as if the
scent was created personally. My favorite is their Figue 15 candle - $70.
Tophdaddy makes the most comfortable worn-in “Burn out” T-shirts individualized for
your area-code. Boston, New York and LA figure prominently and they are currently
expanding into your hometown. Prices range from $18 - $60.
Here’s a gift for the friend you know better than yourself—someone you know so well you
can choose the perfect scent for them. At the Memoire Liquide boutiques in Studio
Beautymix at Fred Segal Santa Monica (310.394.8509) and at Henri Bendel in New York,
you can mix scents to create a bespoke fragrance. Best of all, they keep the scent on file so
you can permanently buy refills.
As a very generous gift, Louis Vuitton gave me one of their monogrammed Pegase
suitcases from their “Mon Monogram” series. You can have one of three shapes—the
Pegase, the Keepall or the Speedy—monogrammed with your initials in the two colors of
your choice. This is the ultimate gift for a frequent flyer.
For friends living in LA, La La Luxe is a luxury concierge and styling service you can hire
to make virtually anything happen. If you have a busy friend in need of some sound styling
advice and a wardrobe update, Nicole Pollard and her team will come over and pull it
together using years of expertise and a vast Rolodex of contacts for $300 an hour.
