INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING
1. Make sure that the tool is only connected to the voltage marked on
the name plate.
2. Never use the tool if its cover or any bolts are missing. If the cover
or bolts have been removed, replace them prior to use. Maintain all
parts in good working order.
3. Always secure tools when working in elevated positions.
4. Never touch the blade, drill bit, grinding wheel or other moving parts
during use.
5. Never start a tool when its rotating component is in contact with the
work piece.
6. Never lay a tool down before its moving parts have come to a
complete stop.
7. ACCESSORIES : The use of accessories or attachments other than
those recommended in this manual might present a hazard.
8. REPLACEMENT PARTS : When servicing use only identical
replacement parts.
CORDLESS IMPACT DRIVER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1. Be aware that since this tool does not have to be plugged into an
electrical outlet, it is always in operating condition.
2. First, charge the battery.
3. Be sure the battery is held correctly in place.
4. When not in use, lock the trigger, disconnect the tool.
5. When operating at high places, be aware of things below you.
6. Before driving a screw or a bolt into walls, ceilings or floors, ensure
that there are no concealed power cables inside.
7. Make sure that the bit is securely mounted. An incorrectly mounted
bit is extremely dangerous since it can fly off or break during operation.
8. Do not wear cloth gloves or a necktie since they could become
caught in a rotating bit.
9. Keep your workspace clean: Cluttered areas and benches invite injuries
10. Secure save working environment: Do not expose power tools to rain,.
Do not use power tools in damp or wet locations. Keep work area well
lit. Do not use power tools where there is risk to cause fire or explosion.
11. Keep children away: Do not let visitors touch the tool. All visitors should
be kept away from area.
12. Store idle tools: When not in use, tools should be stored in a dry, high
or locked up place, out of reach of children.
13. Do not force the tool: It will do the job better and safer at the rate for
which it was intended.
14. Use the right tool: Do not force small tools or attachments to do the job
of a heavy duty tool. Do not use tools for purposes not intended.
15. Wear protective glasses: Also use face or dust mask if the cutting
operation is dusty.
16. Do not overreach: Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
17. Maintain tool with care: Keep cutting tools sharp and clean for better
and safer performance. Keep handles dry, clean and free from oil and
grease.
18. Avoid unintentionally switch on: Do not carry a powered tool with a finger
on the switch. Ensure switch is off when plugging in.
19. Stay alert: Watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not
operate tool when you are tired.
DISPOSAL OF THE EXHAUSTED BATTERY
Recycle Ni-Cd batteries.
Take the battery to the shop from which it was purchased as
soon as the post-charging battery life becomes too short for
practical use.
Please do not discard the exhausted battery.

APPLICATIONS
(Use only for the purposes listed below.)
1. Fastening / removing screws and bolts
NOISE BUILD-UP
Noise (sound pressure level) in the workplace can exceed 85
dB (A). In this case, sound insulation and hearing protection
measures must be taken by the operator.
MOUNTING AND REMOVING THE BIT (Figs. 1,2)
(MOUNTING)
1. Slide the sleeve of the bit holder (1) forward.
2. Insert the bit (2) into the bit holder as far as it will go.
3. Release the sleeve.
4. Confirm that the bit is secured by pulling it forward.
(REMOVING)
1. Slide the sleeve forward.
2. Pull the bit out.
NOTE!
The sizes of the bits which can be used for this tool are
A = 16 mm and B = 13 mm. (Fig. 2)
CAUTION!
Use a bit that matches the screw or bolt to be driven.
CAUTION!
Do not use a damaged bit.
SWITCH (Fig. 3)
This tool is started and stopped by squeezing and releasing
the trigger (3).
The rotation speed is variable from 0 through 2300 min-1 by
controlling the trigger-squeezing force.
CHANGING THE ROTATION DIRECTION (Fig. 4)
To change the rotation direction, stop the tool and push the
reversing switch (4) to the opposite side.
When the reversing switch is pushed in from the side of “R”,
the bit rotates clockwise when viewed from the handle end of
the tool.
When the reversing switch is pushed in from the side of “L”,
the bit rotates counterclockwise.
The trigger can be locked by positioning the reversing switch
in the middle.
Lock the trigger whenever the tool is not in use.

FASTENING TORQUE
The proper fastening torque differs depending on the kind
and size of the screw and the type of the material to be
fastened.
NOTE!
When fastening a screw smaller than M6, check the
fastening torque and fastening time. (Fig. 5)

Carefully adjust the fastening torque by controlling the
trigger-squeezing force so that the screw is not damaged.
NOTE!
To avoid the reduction of the fastening torque, keep the
battery properly charged.
The fastening torque is affected by the following factors.
1. VOLTAGE
When the battery is almost discharged, the voltage will drop
and the fastening torque will be reduced.
2. FASTENING TIME
If the fastening time is prolonged, the fastening torque will
be increased.
However, if the fastening torque reaches the maximum, it
will not increase any more.
3. SCREW AND BOLT
Even though the torque coefficient and class of the screws
or bolts are the same, the fastening torque will differ according
to their diameters. Generally, the larger the diameter, the
higher the fastening torque.
On the other hand, even though the diameter of the bolts or
screws are the same, the fastening torque will differ according
to the torque coefficient, their class and their length.
4. BIT
Failure to use the correct size bit causes a reduction in the
fastening torque.
5. SWITCH
The rotation speed and the fastening torque can be adjusted
by controlling the trigger-squeezing force. The lower the
rotation speed, the lower the fastening torque.
6. LED
LED will be lighted when depressing switch trigger.
WARNING!
Do not incinerate the battery even if it is severely damaged or
is completely worn out. The battery can explode in a fire.
WARNING!
The battery and charger are specifically designed for use in
conjunction with one another. Charging should be performed
exclusively with a RYOBI fast charger.

Red LED lighted = Fast Charging Mode
Green LED lighted = Fully Charged Battery Pack
Yellow and Green LED Lighted = Control Charge or
Defective Battery Pack.
CHARGING BATTERY PACK
The battery pack for this tool has been shipped in a low
charge condition to prevent possible problems. Therefore,
you should charge it prior to use.
NOTE: Batteries will not reach full charge the first time they
are charged. Allow several cycles (cutting followed by recharging) for them to fully charge.
Charge battery pack only with the charger provided.
Make sure power supply is normal house voltage,
240 Volts, 50 Hz, AC only.
Connect charger to power supply.
Place battery pack in charger. See Figure A. Align reaised
rib on batery pack with groove in charger.
Press down on battery pack to be sure contacts on the
battery pack engage properly with contacts in charger.
When properly connected, red light will turn on.
Normally, the yellow and green lights on the charger will
come on. This indicates charger is in control charge mode
and should switch to fast charge mode within 5 minutes.
When charger is in fast charge mode the red light will
come on. If after a period of 15 minutes the yellow and
green lights remain on, remove the battery pack, wait 1
minute and reinsert battery pack in charger. If the yellow
and green lights continue to remain on an additional 15
minutes, the battery pack is damaged and will not accept
charge.
BATTERY
The battery (5) for this tool must be charged before you use the tool.
Use the fast charger provided.
The battery is affected by temperature, so do not charge it outside
or in a location exposed to direct sunlight. Doing so will shorten the
charging time and result in less than the full charge.
When your battery pack becomes fully charged, the red
light will turn off and the green light will turn on.
WARNING!
Do not charge the battery when temperature is below 0°C or
above 40°C.
After normal usage, 1 hour of charge time is required to
be fully charged. A minimum charge time of 1 to 1-1/2
hours is required to recharge a completely discharged
tool.
WARNING!
A battery short-circuit can cause a large current flow,
overheating, burns and even a breakdown.
The battery pack will become slightly warm to the touch
while charging. This is normal and does not indicate a
problem.
Do not place charger in an area of extreme heat or cold.
It will work best at normal room temperature.
1.Do not touch the terminals with any conductive materials.
2.Avoid storing the battery in a container with other metal
objects such as nails, coins, etc.
3.Do not expose the battery to water or rain.
When the batteries become fully charged, unplug your
charger from power supply and remove the battery pack.
WARNING!
Do not store the tool and battery in locations where the
temperature may reach or exceed 50°C.

1.Hold the tool firmly and place the tip of the bit in the screw head
so that it is perpendicular to the screw head.
2.Apply forward pressure to the tool to the extent that the bit will not
slip off the screw.
3.Squeeze the trigger to start the tool.

After use, check the tool to make sure that it is in top condition.
It is recommended that you take this tool to a RYOBI Authorized
Service Centre for a thorough cleaning and lubrication at least
once a year.
DO NOT MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS WHILE THE MOTOR IS
IN MOTION.
ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE POWER CORD FROM THE
RECEPTACLE BEFORE CHANGING REMOVABLE OR
EXPENDABLE PARTS (BLADE, BIT, SANDING PAPER ETC.),
LUBRICATING OR WORKING ON THE UNIT.
WARNING!
To ensure safety and reliability, all repairs should be performed
by an AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTRE or other QUALIFIED
SERVICE ORGANIZATION.

CORDLESS CUTTING TOOLS CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS

Once the battery pack is attached to the cutting tool, the cutting action
can be activated instantly.
Use extreme caution when operating the tools.
Never leave the battery pack attached when the tool is not in use.
Never get into the habit of activating the trigger switch when* *
you do not intend to use the tool immediately.
Always keep out of reach of children and never let * *
inexperienced user operate the tool without them firstly
thoroughly reading and understanding the safety and
operating instructions in the owners manual.
Never leave the battery pack attached to the tool when
changing blade or making setting adjustments to the tools.
The appliance is not intended for use by young children or
infirm persons without supervision.
Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do *
not play with the appliance.
Failure to follow these safety instructions can
result in accidental starting, causing serious
injury to your self or others.

(hereinafter called “the product”) is guaranteed by Ryobi
(hereinafter called “the Company”) to be free from
defects in material or workmanship for a period of 24
months from the date of original purchase covering both
parts and labour. Under the terms of this guarantee, the
repair or replacement of any part shall be the opinion of
the Company or its authorised agent. Should service
become necessary during the warranty period, the owner
should contact the Authorised Ryobi Retailer from whom
the Product was purchased, or the nearest Company
Branch Office. In order to obtain guarantee service, the
owner must present the sales docket and Guarantee
Certificate to confirm date of purchase. This product is
sold by the dealer or agent as principal and the dealer has
no authority from the Company to give any additional
guarantee on the Company’s behalf except as herein
contained or herein referred to.
Guarantee Conditions
This guarantee only applies provided that the Product has
been used in accordance with the manufacturer’s
recommendations under normal use and reasonable care
(in the opinion of the Company) and such guarantee does
not cover damage, malfunction or failure resulting from
misuse, neglect, abuse, or used for a purpose for which
it was not designed or is not suited and no repairs,
alterations or modifications have been attempted by
other than an Authorised Service Agent. This guarantee
will not apply if the tool is damaged by accident or if
repairs arise from normal wear and tear.
The Company accepts no additional liability pursuant to
this guarantee for the costs of travelling or transportation
of the Product or parts to and from the service dealer or
agent - such costs are not included in this guarantee.
Certain legislation, including the Trade Practices Act,
1974 (as amended) and other state and territorial laws
give rights to the buyer and impose liability on the seller
in certain circumstances. Nothing herein shall have the
effect of excluding, restricting or modifying any condition,
guarantee, right or liability imposed, to the extent only
that such exclusion, restriction or modification would
render any term herein void.
