Vitamin A Cosmetic Serums or Rx Gels / Creams
Vitamin A is essential for skin cell growth, integrity & renewal. Available in
dermo-cosmetic formulations as retinol, (and also aldehyde & ester forms)
and in prescription only medicines in retinoic acid forms such as tretinoin.
Retinol 0.5% - 1.0%
Stop 2 to 4 days before treatment depending on tolerance levels. Resume
once erythema subsides. High level daily UV protection essential. Product
options available from Skinceuticals & Jan Marini.

Tretinoin 0.025% available as licensed Rx product, use for indication
is “off-label”. Tretinoin 0.05% & 0.1% available as “special” individual
patient unlicensed medicines.

Acne Problems: Add A Medicated Treatment:
Benzoyl peroxide based products recognised as standard of care & topical
retinoids (Rx only) for comedonal acne (Ref BNF 58). Products containing
benzoyl peroxide should be approved and supplied as a medicine. Active
acne should be controlled before Genuine Dermaroller treatment.
Mild / Moderate topical benzoyl peroxide +/or
