Designed by Robert Dick, the Glissando Headjoint is a telescoping headjoint with a high performance contemporary cut headjoint sliding inside a carrier tube. Two ‘wings’ extend from the lip plate and comfortably embrace the flutist’s cheeks. Moving
the flute to the right slides the headjoint from its ‘home position’ (all the way in) and extends the length of the flute.

What it is
The Swan Neck Headjoint is a flute headjoint that has a bend of approximately 40 degrees. It is handmade from sterling silver, with a handcut
embouchure. It comes in a small, very light instrument case, which also contains a thumb rest. The thumb rest simply clicks on your flute and you can
leave it there.
What it does
The Swan Neck Headjoint turns the strenuous
position for playing the flute into a relaxed one.
With the Swan Neck Headjoint, you will feel
much less stress on your right shoulder, your
neck and your left shoulder. The Swan Neck
Headjoint takes your flute out of the danger
zone and brings it into the easy zone.
What it feels like
Easy, Relaxed, Effortless, No pain. There is also a
feel of solidness to the Swan Neck Headjoint.
When you play an ordinary flute, the asymmetry
in your posture goes right down to your feet.
When you play a swan neck flute, you will feel
your feet planted firmly to the ground.
The logic of The Vertical Headjoint is so self-evident, it needs no explanation. Have you ever noted
the easy playing position of clarinet and recorder. We
are providing The Vertical Headjoint because
flutists who thought they would never play the flute
again, are now playing every day-thanks to The
Vertical Headjoint.
The Vertical Headjoint for flute is handcrafted from
sterling silver with a handcut embouchure. It comes in
a sturdy wooden box, with a thumb rest and if
neccesary, a left hand support. The top part of The
Vertical Headjoint can be adjusted to suit your
playing style. The set contains all you need to convert
your flute into a vertical flute. All it takes is to snap on
the hand rests and slide the headjoint into the tenon.

The flute d'Amore is little known today, but has quite a bit of
Baroque and Classical repertoire for it. Slightly larger than a
concert C flute, it has a very sultry sound that makes it ideal

C# Trill Key Fingerings
1. B to C# - both octaves, 1st and 2nd, speak accurately and clearly.
2. C to C# - the C# trill offers ease for this trill, normally trilled with the first finger of the left hand.
3. High F# to G# - using the C# trill key for this trill is easier and more in tune.
4. High G to Ab – using the C# trill key produces far more accurate pitch than the
conventional method of using the first trill key.
5. High G to A – this is a winner! An impractical trill on the standard flute, the C# trill key makes this
trill a breeze – and accurately in tune! Finger high G, then trill the C# trill key and the upper (first)
trill key simultaneously.
6. High Ab to Bb – finger Ab and trill the C# trill key, upper trill key, and lower trill key, instead of the
standard fingering of both trill keys, for a more in tune trill.
7. A large variety of tremolos are possible. For example: finger A, Bb, B and C in
succession while trilling the C# trill key. This will give you a continuous tremolo to C# (Db). By
combining the C# trill key and other trill keys, other tremolos are possible.
How the Split E Key or G “Donut” Insert Works
High E has always been considered a problem note on the flute. It is easily cracked and tends to
be quite sharp, especially in forte passages. Ideally, the high E should be
fingered with the two G keys (ring finger on your left hand) split so that the bottom key
(of the connected keys) is down and the other is up. The split E accomplishes this by dividing the
normally connected G key structure so that it will work simultaneously for G yet independently for
high E. The G “Donut” insert is a popular alternative to the split E Key. It can be installed as an
option on a new flute and is also available for flutes after originally purchased.
1. Rapid slurs from high A to high E speak easily with no special fingerings.
2. Quick leaping passages from lower notes to high E and back present little or no problem as the
high E speaks freely.
