2. Please provide a brief description of the program.
This is an overview of FUN fundraisers Fairfield has done to raise money for different
organizations. These fundraisers are easily adaptable and can be put towards fundraising a
delegation or a focus project like helping Haiti. Fundraisers range from Black Light Parties to
Banana Pancakes.
3. Who was the program for? Name your target audience.
Anyone interested in ways to fundraise for their organization, delegation, or for a good cause.
4. How much did the program cost? Who funded it? Please provide a brief budget breakdown.
N/A
5. How many people were involved in planning the program AND how long did it take to plan?
The level of involvement required varies by fundraiser.
6. Why was the program started on your campus? How does it benefit the university and/or community
population?
We originally held fundraisers to raise money for different organizations and causes, such as the
American Cancer Society and relief efforts in Haiti. However, these fundraisers can be used to
support financial needs of organizations and delegations as well.
7. What were some pros/cons of the program? How could the program be improved?
N/A
8. How could this program be adapted for other universities?
Fundraisers are really universal and can be adapted to suit other colleges and universities. For
example, if pancakes aren’t the breakfast food of choice on another campus, perhaps you could
sell muffins or bagels instead.
9. Additional questions, comments, notes, or concerns:
While your fundraiser might not raise a million dollars, any amount you fundraise helps! Happy
fundraising! 
Put the FUN back into FUNdraising!
Pancake Breakfast/Midnight Breakfast
- Widely publicize the event
- Ask for donations, don’t set a price, and make known what the proceeds are going towards
- Pick the date – Sunday morning, Friday night
- Establish a team of volunteers – run in shifts for prep, cooking, cleaning, and advertising
- Offer variety – blueberries, chocolate chip, or banana pancakes
- Pancakes are cheap to make, creating a large profit
Highlight for Haiti
- Host a party in a large enough space open to residents of a particular class, hall, or area on campus
- Sell glowsticks and highlighters for the black light party – set prices
o Sell before the event for a lower rate, then charge more at the door (helps advertise)
- Advertise using glowsticks in mailboxes, or neon signs around residence halls and campus
- Have a student DJ host the party and supply the music and speak system
Bracelet Buddies
- Sell handmade string bracelets (similar to friendship bracelets)
- Take custom orders and make generic sized bracelets to sell on the spot
- Have the colors of the strings represent something (school colors, various cancer colors, cause colors)
- Have members of the Residential Housing Association allot time to make the custom order bracelets
and deliver (mailboxes)
- Set up shop in the campus center or busiest dining hall for most publicity
- Sell bracelets for $3-$5 each, depending on the difficulty of the design
Food for Thought
- Sell a variety of food – appetizers, desserts, snacks – at different times of day throughout residence
halls
- Ex: Grilled cheese, wings, chicken nuggets, mozzarella sticks, brownies, cookies
- Good for study breaks during exams, late night snacks (weekends)
- Charge a set price for the item
- Do one item (appetizers) one night, desserts a different night, etc.
Other Fundraising Ideas:
- Raffles (50/50 – don’t worry about prizes)
- T-Shirt Sales – “Everyone loves a Fairfield girl!”
- Tye Dye on the Quad – charge $5, students bring their own white t-shirt or item to dye
- Dancing grams – “Mexigrams” to friends, charge $5 to send a dancing greeting from a group of
students to a friend
Important Things to Remember:
- Time of event – avoid conflict with other activities, plan during a slow week/weekend, or after events
- Advertising – know your audience and who you want to publicize the event to, use creative ways to
lure in the crowd
- Pricing – college students are broke, maximize profit but keep it fair
- Volunteers/Staffing – make sure to have enough support and help for the entire event, don’t allow a
few people to take on more than they can handle, always consider shifts
- HAVE FUN!
