Advanced Fitting
System Instructions
The PING Advanced Fitting System (AFS)
was created to assist our fitters by providing more fitting combinations that will
help golfers find the best possible fit to
help them play their best.
This instruction guide will demonstrate
some of the key benefits of the new AFS
fitting tools, show you how to properly use
AFS fitting components, and also provide
key information that will aid in the fitting
process for irons and drivers.
The PING AFS System retains the easy to
use features of the current “fixed” club system while providing additional tools to enhance the fitting process. The PING Color
Code System, 5 Step Fitting Process, and
our well organized head management system are retained features with AFS. Retaining these key features will make it easy for
current PING fitters to transition into AFS
and make it easy for new fitters to learn
how to fit using AFS.
In addition to the retained features mentioned above, the AFS system provides fitters with additional features and benefits
to enhance the fitting process. One of
the key benefits is the greater number of
club options created with the use of interchangeable components. Increased options will make it more likely the customer
will be able to hit a club with their exact fit.
This leads to greater consumer confidence,
and in turn leads to increased sales for the
PING fitting account.
Key benefits of
the AFS system
· More fitting options.
· Quicker to dial consumer
into the right fit.
· Simplified system.
· Easy to learn, easy to use.
· Smaller retail footprint.
Using AFS
STEP 1
Select desired head
and shaft combination.
STEP 2
Insert shaft into head
by aligning laser
etched line on club
head with laser etched
line on shaft tip.
STEP 3
Insert male thread and nut
into head and rotate nut
counter clockwise until the
threads are connected.
Detaching head from shaft
1. Attach wrench to nut
2. Rotate head counter clockwise
Additional Usage tips
• Ensure head and shaft plug is clean
• Avoid over tightening
• Avoid damage to shaft tip
Enhanced design features of AFS II
· Increased strength & durability on all metal components.
· New AFS Nut design with ferrule for improved aesthetics.
· New rubberized O-Ring to help fill the gap from nut to hosel, and
decrease the potential to want to over tighten the hardware.
· Laser etched line on shaft and head components to help properly
align components prior to connection.
STEP 4
Attach wrench
to nut.
STEP 5
Rotate club head with
opposite hand clockwise
until the desired tension
has been achieved.
AFS Driver Fitting (Shafts and Length)
Each AFS Shaft is identified by a molded plastic grip end cap. These caps
provide shaft specifications to assist in proper shaft selection during a
club fitting. This year there are two colors of grip end caps. All G15 Driver
proprietary shafts have Black Grip Caps. All i15 Driver proprietary shafts
and aftermarket shafts from the Custom Options Department have Grey
Grip Caps. The color of the grip cap will also help differentiate the finished
length differences of the head/shaft combination.
Due to design differences in the hosel depth between the G15 and i15
Driver heads, there will be a difference in the finished length of certain
AFS combinations of driver head and shaft components. Please utilize the
chart below to help determine the finished length of the AFS combination
that is being used in the club fitting.
