Objective
To provide the Playford community an opportunity to compete in a singing competition, with the winner awarded
the limelight performance at the Playford Community Carols on 7th December 2013 and Australia Day Celebrations
on 26th January 2014.

Contest Terms and Conditions
1. The host is City of Playford with its registered office at 12 Bishopstone Road, Davoren Park SA 5113.
2. The Limelight Contest consists of two stages; an Audition and a Finale.
3. Contestants perform at their own risk and agree they are of good health and fitness and physically able to
participate in the event.
4. Entry into the Contest is free.
5. Incomplete, incorrect and illegible entries, entries containing illegal, offensive or defamatory content, or entries
which breach any law or infringe any third party rights (including intellectual property rights) will be deemed by
City of Playford to be ineligible entries.
6. Only forty (40) Contestants will be allocated an audition time and these will be allocated on a first registered
first offered basis.
7. City of Playford will not be held liable for any loss, damage or injury which results directly or indirectly from the
Limelight Contest, except that which cannot be excluded by law.
8. All equipment including leads, chords and other electrical items must be tagged and tested before being used
on site.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Entry is open to City of Playford residents aged 14 years and over as at 1 July 2013.
2. Singing auditions are open to solo artists (“Individuals”) and duos or groups with a maximum number of five
members (“Groups”).
3. A person may only perform once during the Contest either as an Individual OR within a Group.
4. The Contest is for voice with music supplied by the Contestant in digital format (MP3) prior to audition date.
5. Contestants must be available to perform at the Finale on 18 October (7pm – 10pm) and on Saturday 7
December 2013 (7pm – 10pm) and Sunday 26 January 2014 (9am – 12noon) to enter.
6. City of Playford Councillors, committee members and employees, and family members of the judging panel are
not eligible to enter.
How to Enter
1. A Contestant Registration Form and Release Form must be completed by all Contestants and be signed by a
legal guardian if the Contestant is under the age of 18 years at 1 July 2013.
2. Forms must be received no later than 5pm on Friday 4 October 2013.
3. Eligible Contestants will be notified of their audition time by email and/or telephone.
4. All music must be provided in MP3 digital format no later than 5pm on Tuesday 8 October 2013 and files must
be named with performer name and song title.
5. The auditions will take place at Northern Sound System (NSS) on Saturday 12 October 2013.
6. Audition songs must be no more than 3 minutes duration.
7. All styles of song are welcome and must be in English.
8. Songs performed may be original compositions or cover versions of other artists.
9. Music will be queued from the beginning of the recording so please be prepared.
Contest Judging
1. First round of judging of the Contest will take place during the Audition.
2. Judging will be conducted by a Panel consisting of four people: one City of Playford representative, one Civic
Events Committee representative, a professional signer to be named at a later date and the event
Entertainment Manager.
3. Contestants will be judged on vocal ability and engagement capabilities (as determined by the judged in their
absolute discretion).
4. The Judging Panel will select up to ten (10) Contestants who will progress to the Finale.
5. Finalist details will be published on the City of Playford website five days before the Finale.
6. Finalists must be able to attend a photo session and the Finale on Friday 18 October 2013 from 5pm.
7. The Host reserves the right to change the format or venue of the Contest provided the Host give all Finalists
reasonable notice.
8. The winner will be selected based on the number of votes by the audience and points from the Judging Panel at
the Finale.
9. Judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
10. Judges are under no obligation to provide feedback, comments or critique of any aspects of any performance.
Contestant Release Statement
By entering the City of Playford Limelight Contest, the Contestant understands and agrees that the Host may use and
disclose the information provided by the entrant on the terms and for the purposes of marketing and promotion for
this and other Council events.
The Contestant agrees that the Host can contact the Contestant during and after this Contest ends via email, SMS,
MMS or any other means.
If a Contestant would like to access or correct the personal information that the Host holds about them, or if a
Contestant does not wish the information to be disclosed, they should advise the Host by providing written notice
The Contestant agrees that any photography or videography taken of the Contestant and/or their performance is the
sole property of the Host.

and release statement as stated above.
