GOOD FOR GENERATIONS TO COME
Look for Tanalised Ecowood outdoor treated wood
products at your timber and building materials merchant
and remember these important tips for outdoor timber use.
®
Make sure that the timber is treated to the correct hazard
level for your application. The most common situations are:
H3 for above ground such as decking and pergolas
H4 for ground contact such as landscaping and fence posts
H5 for structural application in ground contact such as
house poles, engineered retaining walls, or for timber
that will be in permanent fresh water contact.
All end cuts, rebates, drill holes and notches should be
resealed with an "in can" timber resealing product such as
Tanalised® Ecoseal.
It is strongly recommended that all dimensioned (sawn)
timber products in outdoor situations are painted,
stained or sealed for best performance and prevention
of discolouration, mould and dimensional distortion.
Use hot dipped galvanised steel, stainless steel or other
metal fasteners of high corrosion resistance for all exterior
timber applications.
You will never regret the small additional cost of taking
these steps when you appreciate the long term
benefits of durable out door timber structures using
Tanalised® Ecowood.
Consult Arch Wood Protection Guarantee and Tanalised®
Ecowood Frequently Asked Questions brochure for further
information.
Do not burn treated wood.
Tanalised® Ecowood treated wood products are supplied
by a number of independent manufacturers throughout
Australia and New Zealand.
The Australian Pesticides &
Veterinary Medicines Authority
(APVMA) have ruled that from
March 2006 CCA (copper
chromium arsenate) preservative
is not to be used to treat timber
and wood products intended
for certain applications such as
residential decking, childrens’ play
equipment, hand rails, garden
furniture and picnic tables. While Arch Wood Protection
strongly believe in the safety of CCA preservative for these
and all other common outdoor constructiuon applications,
Tanalised® Ecowood provides consumers and specifiers with
an alternative choice, particularly for non-arsenic containing
treated wood intended for outdoor and ground contact
situations. Tanalised® Ecowood incorporates Tanalith® E, a
copper based wood preservative that is fully compliant with
the APVMA directives for applications that involve high
levels of direct human contact, particularly with children.
Tanalised® Ecowood has a similar appearance and resistance
to decay and insects as traditional CCA treated timber. Ask
your supplier or contact Arch Wood Protection for further
information.
