Requirements for Service
In order to use this SIM you need an unlocked phone.
How do you know if you have an unlocked phone?
Insert the SIM card into your phone. If your phone indicates a provider (eg Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile)
then your phone is unlocked. If your phone displays a different message, your phone is locked.
In addition, your phone needs to support the correct frequency in order to call and / or use the internet.
Worldwide providers use of several GSM networks (850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz). The GSM1800
network is widely used in Europe, the GSM850 network often in South America and Asia and the
GSM1900 network especially in North America. To use your GSM anywhere in the world you will need a
quad-band phone.
For "faster" 3G, Internet Providers use the UMTS network (850/900/1700-AWS 1900/2100 Mhz.)

4G Internet. 4G stands for 4th generation and is the fourth generation of mobile telecommunications
standards. It is the successor to the 3G standard. 4G is still limited globally available.

Note: "Unlocked" means that your phone supports SIM cards from provider that are allowed. Often a
provider locks a cellular phone
Unlocking your Phone
Unlocking your phone is an easy process, it simply involves dialing a code on your phone’s keypad.
Most mobile phone operators will give you the unlock code and step-by-step instructions right over the
phone. Call customer service and inform them you’ll be traveling out of the country and you need the
„unlock code“.

Contacting Customer Support
Dial *264 and press send. You will be connected with a Telcel representative who will transfer you to
someone who speaks English.
Getting started:
Your SIM Card is already activated by InternationalSIM, just insert it into your phone and dial.
Where can I buy top up cards?:
There are a three different ways to add airtime:
1. Purchase a Telcel card at a convenience store, pharmacy, etc. These come in various
denominations to fit any budget – simply scratch off the back of the card and key the number
into your phone. Credit is added instantly and you will receive a SMS confirmation message with
your new balance. Sometimes the actual cards are sold out so they will just offer you an
electronic recharge instead.
2. Perform an electronic recharge at 7-11, Oxxo, etc. Just give the clerk your phone number and
tell them how much you want to add to your account. There will usually be a commission of a
couple pesos. Like the prepaid card, credit is added instantly and you will receive a SMS
confirmation message with your new balance.
3. On the Internet with your credit card. Telcel has a website that will add credit using your Visa or
MasterCard. Accounts from the Americas, Asia, Europe, etc. all work, it is designed to accept
international payments. The site is located at:

You must complete the entire form, so if something doesn’t apply just fill in ,.none“. The site is
entirely in Spanish so you will find an English translation below.

Then a page displaying all your information will appear. You have to confirm it and make sure that you
accept the terms. If everything is correct you can click “Comprar” (Buy) otherwise you can go back to
make any necessary changes.

SIM Card Validity
The SIM Card is valid as long as you keep adding credit to it. The credit you add is good for 30 natural
days. If you don’t use the SIM for 6 months your mobile number will be withdrawn.
