We are really excited to make this year’s Walk For Freedom even bigger and better than last
year’s. Thank you for getting involved, all the money we raise will go directly towards supporting
the work of City Hearts. In this pack you will find information about:

How to raise money and sponsorship, online and in person.
•
All about the arrangements for the day of the walk.
•
How to make sure the money you raise gets back to City Hearts.
•
How to stay updated and informed about our work after the event.
FUNDRAISING
If you want to raise money online, you can use the website: www.JustGiving.com . This is a wellknown website that allows people to sponsor you online using a credit or debit card. The money
goes directly to City Hearts and allows Gift Aid to be claimed on donations.
If you choose to use Just Giving, you need to set up your own page to fundraise for Hope City
Enterprise. This is the organisation under which City Hearts is registered as a charity.
You can raise money in person using the sponsorship forms that can be downloaded from our
website. If supporters want to donate money using a credit or debit card, they also use our
donation slips that can also be downloaded. The person sponsoring you needs to fill in their
contact information and card details. Then the slips need to be returned to City Hearts.
GIFT AID – FREE MONEY!
The Government operates a scheme called Gift Aid that allows charities to claim tax back on every
pound donated. This means City Hearts can receive an extra £2.50 for every £10 donated by UK
tax payers! Sponsors need to provide their address for us to claim this. Please make extra efforts
to get addresses from sponsors as this could make a huge difference to our final total!

The walk will start at 10am on Saturday 8 June 2013.
Please arrive at Endcliffe Park by 9:00am to be sure not to
miss the official start of the walk!

need to sign in with our volunteers who will be easily identified by their banners and t-shirts!
We will provide you with a number to wear during the walk, on the back of this you will need to fill
in your contact details. If you will be under the age of 16 on the day of the walk, you will need to be
accompanied by an adult on the walk who will also have to provide their contact details.
WHAT TO WEAR AND WHAT TO BRING
Please make sure you dress appropriately for the weather on the day and make sure you wear
comfortable shoes that you will be able to walk 4 miles in. Children are welcome to bring bikes,
scooters, etc., please just be aware of other pedestrians during the walk. Bring a bottle of water to
keep hydrated. Refreshments will be provided at our free tea party at the finish line!

TEA PARTY AT THE FINISH LINE!
The walk will finish with a celebratory tea party for all the walkers and
supporters! Hot and cold drinks and delicious cupcakes will be provided and
there will be an opportunity to celebrate your achievements and to hear more
about the work of City Hearts.
There will also be a mini-market selling a variety of exciting products!
RETURNING FUNDS TO CITY HEARTS

Money raised through JustGiving goes directly to City Hearts; you don’t need to do
anything!
•
Cash can be returned to the MegaCentre office between the hours of 10am and 4pm,
Monday - Friday.
•
Cheques can be returned to the address given at the bottom of the page. These should be
made payable to: City Hearts.
