WHAT IS SCORE?
POTTSTOWN SCORE is an independent, voluntary, nonprofit association which provides free counseling, mentoring,
and low-cost workshops to entrepreneurs in the Tri-County
small business community. Our local chapter provides 20 to 30
face-to-face, internet, or telephone counseling sessions/month.
We also provide an average of 2 workshops each month on topics
of value to those in business or planning to start one.
NATIONAL SCORE is the oldest and most unique volunteer
service in the federal government. It has been in formal existence since 1964. SCORE's service is funded in part through a
coop agreement with the US Small Business Administration.
The 354 national chapters are staffed by 13,000 men and women
with a vast amount of business experience. Most of the SCORE
mentors are retired, but many are currently in the workforce.
THE POTTSTOWN CHAPTER was organized on August
7, 1991. Of the 12 original chapter members, two mentors, Carl
Landis and Dick Ludwick, are still active in the organization.
Chapter meetings are held at noon on the first Monday of every
month in the SCORE office which is on the ground level of the
New York Plaza building in Pottstown.
