The Ohio Lottery has a number of initiatives in place to help you out. The retailer
instant ticket activation campaign, launched this past October, has encouraged
the timely placement of the newest inventory, provided retailers with an activation
incentive and improved instant ticket sales.
In the first 18 days of holiday instant game sales, we’ve seen an increase of 21
percent compared to the same time period last year. We see this snapshot as
an indication that the quick turnaround of instant ticket delivery and activation is
having a positive impact at retail. We’ll be monitoring the retailer instant ticket
activation campaign throughout the year.
Let’s help customers make the most of their Lottery game spending this holiday
season by encouraging participation in MyLotto Rewards® and introducing them
to the Holiday Bonus promotion. Please post information where your Lottery
customers can see both these opportunities, reminding them of their benefits. See
page 3 and 7 for details.
When you get a moment, take a look at this month’s Taking Care of Business
segment. You’ll see some successful strategies Ohio Lottery retailers use to keep
their account in order and customers up-to-date on winning ticket information.
Consider setting the piece aside to review after the first of the year. Use this
information as part of a kick off meeting with your sales representative and staff to
get 2016 off to a good start. We’ll continue to provide other helpful information in
the coming months.
2016 begins with the brand new KENO Double Win promotion. Every 20th Keno
ticket sold will have all its winnings doubled. It’s been a popular promotion in a
number of other Keno lottery states, and we’re glad to offer it as a special New
Year’s treat for customers, running Jan. 1-31.

his $155,500 win before taxes, he’ll
pay off the house and take his family to

This group of 23 coworkers from the
Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton had
the souvenir check made to the order
of “Already Spent.” They won $50,000
on the Oct. 24 Powerball drawing

J. Rolling Cash 5 winner • Oct. 6, 2015
Thomas Sullivan of Baltimore is one
lucky Lottery player, and he got lucky
again. Thomas hit the Rolling Cash 5
jackpot, taking home a $97,000 jackpot
prize from the Oct. 6 drawing. In 2005,
he won $5,000 on KICKER; in 2004 he
won $175,000 on Mega Millions; and
in 1998 he won $965 on the Super
Lotto game. You have to play to win, he
says. Thomas purchased his winning
ticket at Circle K #5556 in Lancaster.

O.$100 Frenzy winner • September 2015
While travelling with her sister, Rita
White decided to purchase some instant
tickets. She won a little cash and
wanted to use that money to purchase a
few more tickets. The checkout counter
was busy; so, she went to play at the
Lottery’s WinStation vending machine.
Good decision! She won $20,000 on
a $100 Frenzy instant ticket. She and
her husband will use a portion of the
winnings to purchase a supplemental
heating unit for their home.

Taking Care of Business
Cashing and Balancing.
Save all cashed tickets and validation receipts in a separate drawer to help
balance your Lottery account. At the end of a shift, or at the end of the day,
you have the documentation you need to check against your reports. Keep
the information just long enough to take care of your internal accounting
needs.
The importance of completing a ticket inquiry. When
checking for winning tickets, press the Admin button on the main screen,
the inquiry button on the Administrative screen and then, after scanning
the ticket, the blinking “cash” button on the bottom right-hand side of the
screen to complete the transaction. The cash button blinks and goes active
only if the ticket is a winner.
If your employee inadvertently pays on a ticket, but
forgets to hit “cash” to validate the winning ticket
through the computer system, you will not get credit.
Provide a customer receipt.
To give customers a record of their Lottery transaction,
go to the Admin screen and press the “Last Cash”
button to generate a receipt. You can retrieve a receipt
for the last six transactions.

the counter? Have your customers use the self-
service ticket checker at your store, or use the ticket
checking feature on their Ohio Lottery mobile app.

Help out your customers by printing out and
providing the “not a winner” receipt. This
is also helpful advice if you have a customer
who brings in a stack of tickets to check for

orders starting mid-December.

23 will be delivered Dec. 24. Orders place Dec.
24-27 will be delivered Dec. 28; orders placed

The Instant Ticket Call Center will be closed
Dec. 24-25, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. You may
leave a message on those days; with orders
processed the next business day.
Ohio Lottery offices will be closed Dec. 25
and Jan. 1 for the Christmas and New
Year’s holidays.
