This session will provide an overview of the key components of the Act for board members. The session will benefit those appointed as public complaint director and all those who want to learn more about the process. We will hear from key partners and stakeholders regarding the advantages and disadvantages of advocacy as individual organizations versus collaborating with a provincial vincial organization or among a number of provincial organizations, as well as how to determine which organization is best placed to lead an advocacy effort. We will learn the importance of having a well planned strategy and approach when contacting government government and how best to bring forward important issues. The session will also discuss how the Enhancing RCMP Accountability Accountability Act will impact the Commission as it transitions to the Civilian Review and Complaints Commission for the RCMP (CRCC).
