CONVERSION IN PRODUCTS RUNNING ON GAS
This document is about how to realize the conversion procedure from a currently adjusted gas type to a
different gas type (e.g. from LPG top natural gas or from natural gas to LPG). This document is drafted to
cover all products having any kind of gas burning unit.
Equipment to be used during conversion and their features are given below:

A. CONVERSION PROCEDURE
• During gas conversion, to avoid explosion risk, shut the gas line before starting to work.
Part 1: Main Gas Pipe
• Remove the currently (Natural Gas or LPG) pipe end connected to the product.

Use Two Wrenches!
Replace the orange gasket
• Take out the spare gasket and the pipe end (for LPG or Natural Gas) in the conversion accessory bag.

Mount the spare pipe end to the main gas pipe by reversing the removal process as described
with the above pictures by placing a gasket in between.
Part 2: Hob Burners
•
Remove the grills. Remove the burner caps and bodies.

Remove the injectors with the above specified box wrench.
Place the injectors to the burners according to the layout in the injector board.
Pay attention to the symbols
on the injector board!

Tighten all couplings.
Install the injectors to the burners according
to the symbols on the injector board!
Part 3: Oven Burners
• First remove the screws of oven and grill (if any) burners.
•
Remove the oven burner first by lowering down slightly and then pulling it forward. Following
example shows oven burner removal procedure (as a representation).
•
Remove the injectors with the above specified box wrench
•
Place the injectors to the burners according to the layout in the injector board and tighten the
couplings.
B. CHECKING AFTER CONVERSION
Apply the detergent/soap foam on injectors and pipe nozzle coupling points which may leak gas, by covering a
large area.
Check fist the coupling point of main gas pipe and then coupling points of each burner injector one by one
(bottom section).
Observe whether there is bubble formation of the foam around the coupling point of pipe end by opening the gas
mains. If there is bubble formation of foam, it should be tightened with 22 and 24 size wrench to eliminate the
leak.
There is leak in its coupling!
Again check whether there is formation of foam bubble around the injector. However for this check, the relevant
tap should be opened and the nozzle of the injector should be shut and the gas outlet should be blocked (with a
silicon bar or your finger). During this procedure, whether the foam creates bubbles in the bottom of the injector
should be observed. If there is, it should be tightened with the No 7 box wrench to eliminate the leak.

Tightness check is completed as described above. There is a gas rating label which is adhered around the area
where the pipe of the product is attached. Since the product is converted from the current gas to another gas type, in
order not to cause any misunderstanding or intervention in the later service of the product, rating label of the new
gas type should be adhered over the previous gas rating label. A new rating label which is applied onto the previous
gas rating label after it is converted from natural gas to LPG is shown in the following example.
After the above mentioned processes are performed, the conversion procedure is completed with the idling
adjustment being carried out.
IDLING ADJUSTMENT IN THE OVEN HOBS & COOKTOP/BUILT-IN HOBS
This document is about the idling adjustment and control for various types of gas taps. This document has
been drafted to cover all products having gas burner units (Hobs of Mix Ovens, Hobs of Cooktop Midi Ovens,
Cooktop Hobs and Built-in Hobs).
Locations of various taps and the idling adjustment screw (By-Pass Screw) belonging to different
manufacturers used in the products are shown below;

Explanations:
(1) Even though there are various types of taps with different features such as normal (160
degrees), progressive (210 degrees), one-way, two-way, right or left outlet, with or without
thermic device, there is no difference with regard to the idling adjustment.
(2) Thermic device stops the gas flow automatically when the flame is put out due to wind, liquid
overflow, etc. after a while (maximum 90 seconds). If it does not stop the gas flow, it should
be replaced with its tap.
(3) Apart from Sabaf oven tap with thermic device, in all other Sabaf taps, idling
adjustment screw is inside the tap shaft.
Screwdriver details for idling adjustment are specified below;

IDLING ADJUSTMENT STEPS
•
Ignite the burner which will be adjusted for idling and after the burner catches fire,
minimize the flame by turning the knob to the end. If the flame burns out when you turn the
knob to the end, turn the knob to off position.
When igniting,
•
Flame is at maximum level
Remove the knob by pulling it backwards from the tap shaft.
Flame is at minimum level
•
Seat the tip of the above specified screwdriver onto the idling screw head.
• If you turn the idling screw head to counter-clockwise, flame will be heightened. If you turn
it clockwise, flame will be shortened.
•
Adjust the flame height as 6-7mm by turning the idling adjustment screw clockwise or
counter-clockwise.
CHECKING AFTER IDLING ADJUSTMENT
Apply the first 2 steps as given below (if the tap has a thermic device, include the 3rd step);
1st Step
•
Check only when the product is cooled down.
•
If it is possible, burner is ignited with the tap knob at minimum level, if not, it is ignited with the
tap knob at maximum level.

Igniting (by pushing the knob

Turn the knob quickly between the maximum and minimum levels. Repeat this
movement a few times by observing that the flame is shortened and heightened.
Flame should not extinguish with the knob at minimum level.

2nd Step
•

As a continuation of the above step, flame is left burning at minimum level.
Approach your hand to the level of burner grid as much as possible without touching it.
(Caution! Grill may be hot)

Move your hand over the flame from left to right for 1 second and this time move your hand
from right to left for 1 second without waiting.
Movement of our hand (while moving from right to left)
•
When this movement is repeated for 3 times, flame should not extinguish at
minimum level.
3rd Step
• If the tap for which idling adjustment is being made has a thermic device, as a continuation
of the step, the flame is left burning at minimum level.
•
A medium size pot containing (nearly 1 glass of) water is placed onto the grid and
observed.

At the 5th minute of monitoring, the thermic device should not stop the gas flow and the
flame of the relevant burner should not extinguish.
