Invitation
We, the founding members of the European Supervisor Education (ESE) Initiative, are pleased to invite you to the conference
“How to contribute to financial stability – Educating supervisors as integral part of European financial supervision”
to be held in Frankfurt am Main on 1-2 July 2009.
The idea behind the initiative
The aim of the European Supervisor Education Initiative is to improve the skills of European supervisors in the fields of
banking, insurance and securities to a high standard by means of a modular seminar programme. The programmes
combine the knowledge and experience of practitioners from the field of supervision with academic solutions from a
European perspective. The interaction of seminar participants from various disciplines and countries aims to promote
mutual understanding and a European supervisory culture. The initiative highlights the importance of training financial
supervisors for financial stability. It builds on the impetus provided by the European committees for banking, insurance and
securities supervision (CEBS, CEIOPS and CESR), which have prioritised the training of European supervisors for 2009.
Founding members
The founding members of the European Supervisor Education
Initiative are the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin),
the Oesterreichische Nationalbank, Goethe University’s Goethe
Business School and the Deutsche Bundesbank. We would
consider it a success if, as a result of the conference, we were
able to attract new members.
