How to use Paylean T Paylean improves late-finishing performance
How to use Paylean T Paylean improves late-finishing performance and profitability Late-finisher pigs naturally deposit less muscle and more fat.1 During the last 45 to 90 lbs. of gain before marketing, when pig growth is inefficient and costly, Paylean consistently improves lean gain, which improves throughput and profit. More muscle, less fat with Paylean1,2 Finishing Phase Rate of Accretion Normal Fat Accretion Normal Muscle Accretion Fat Accretion with Paylean Decreases Muscle Accretion with Paylean Increases Dose and duration • 4.5 to 9.0 g/ton concentration in finishing feed. • Feed Paylean for a target of 35 days prior to closeout.3 Nutrition requirements5 Time • To help offset late-finisher performance decline, target feeding Paylean for the final 35 days before barn closeout.3 • Feeding Paylean produces: – 10% or higher average daily gain2 – 10% better feed efficiency2 – 0.5% or higher yield4 – 5 lbs. more carcass weight4 Develop your Paylean profit plan • Your Elanco representative can help you develop a customized Paylean program to suit your specific needs. • Paylean should be fed in a diet containing at least 16% crude protein. • The final total dietary lysine concentration range should be 0.90% to 1.20% for all doses. • Discuss your most profitable formulation with a qualified nutritionist. Withdrawal • Paylean has no required withdrawal when fed according to label direction5. Hog handling • Recent research demonstrated that pigs fed 4.5 g/ton of ractopamine for 28 days did not differ from control pigs for stress parameters measured during handling and transportation.6 • To learn more about Elanco’s animal handling resources, contact your Elanco representative. • To learn more about proper handling procedures, visit www.hoghandlingupdate.com. The Paylean advantage: Combining value from barn cut strategy In a typical operation, Paylean provides additional value in the fixed weight cuts (feed savings) and in the fixed time cut (additional carcass lbs.). In addition, Paylean can benefit barn cuts by increasing lean percentage.9 Paylean directions for use: • Feed at 4.5 to 9.0 g/ton to finishing swine in a complete ration containing at least 16% crude protein, for the last 45 to 90 lbs. of gain (group average) • Clinical registration studies showed no statistical difference between the effects of 4.5 and 9.0 g/ton • No withdrawal required when fed according to label direction The label contains complete use information, including cautions and warnings. Always read, understand and follow the label and use directions. CAUTION: Ractopamine may increase the number of injured and/or fatigued pigs during marketing. Not for use in breeding swine.
