Seacoast Region - New Hampshire Campground Owners Association
Seacoast Region
A fabulous sunset captured by Kelly Chamberlin at
Country Shore Camping Area in Kingston, NH.
The Seacoast Region features 18 miles
of Atlantic coastline, with long sandy
beaches, working ports, offshore
islands, and popular resort towns that
date back nearly 400 years.
At the hub of the region, the city of Portsmouth (settled in 1623)
combines modern day convenience with historic charm. The Olde
Port and downtown areas are home to brick-paved streets, historic
buildings, art galleries, specialty shops, jazz clubs, sidewalk cafes
and award-winning restaurants. Prescott Park features beautiful
gardens and hosts concerts and festivals. Strawbery Banke Museum
provides an historic recreation of life in Colonial days. A short drive
away, Redhook Ale Brewery offers tours and casual dining.
Neighboring towns such as Dover, Durham, Exeter, Greenland,
Lee and Newmarket also have much to offer. Tour the Children’s
Museum of New Hampshire in Dover, the Seacoast Science Center
in Rye, Great Bay Discovery Center and Great Bay Wildlife Reserve
in Greenland, or Flag Hill Winery in Lee. History buffs will enjoy
Exeter, one of the first four settlements in the state and its capital
during the Revolutionary War. Exeter is home to the American
Independence Museum, and Phillips Exeter Academy is one of the
nation’s finest preparatory boarding schools.
Hampton Beach offers shopping, dining, and a variety of
entertainment beyond swimming. Catch a concert at the Casino
Ballroom or Seashell Stage, and free weekly fireworks throughout

and a distillery, meaning it produces wines and spirits.
It boasts more than 20 acres of vineyards that feature
nine varieties of grapes suitable to New England’s harsh
climate, producing red and white wines in a variety of
flavors, including fruit wines with blends of strawberry,
apple and Wild Maine blueberries. In keeping with their
“made in New Hampshire” pride, Flag Hill has a Heritage
Red Wine that is blended with maple syrup.
in legend and lore. But the islands are a destination
for history buffs and photographers, vacationers and
lighthouse lovers. Portsmouth Harbor Cruises leaves
from Portsmouth Harbor and cruises the 6 miles out to
the Isles. Go for the afternoon or spend the whole day.
Where the Potters are If you like to watch
artists at work, take a trip to Salmon Falls Stoneware
in Dover. The beloved stoneware is highly prized and
has become an American tradition for more than 20
years. Hand-made and hand-decorated, the pieces
are uniquely New England, making this shop a true
landmark in the City of Dover.
No Ordinary Odiorne Visit The Seacoast Center
at Odiorne Point State Park. The state park is worth
exploring all by itself, for its 350-acre park with hiking
trails and multiple habitats, located right on the
Atlantic. The Seacoast Science Center offers a tide pool
touch-tank, interpretive exhibits, a 32-foot skeleton of a
humpback whale, amazing views of the seashore, and a
rare blue lobster in their “Gulf of Maine” exhibit hall.
Why Rye? Rye Harbor State Park showcases the rocky
New Hampshire shore better than any other location
along the 18-mile coastline of the state. Saltwater
fishing is popular with the many chartered boats that
set out from the harbor. This is also a popular spot for
weddings and picnics. Escape the hustle and bustle of
Hampton Beach with a short ride to Rye.
Go Back in Time Strawbery Banke Museum in
Portsmouth provides visitors with the opportunity to
experience and imagine how people lived throughout
four centuries of New England history. This is achieved
through restored furnished houses, exhibits, period
gardens, historic landscapes, and costumed role players.

campgrounds are quiet and
uncrowded.
Many campgrounds are open for your winter camping
experience. Check the Grids and Listings in the Region
section for additional information.
Enjoy winter in New Hampshire...ski, skate, sled,

Ten Essentials
Items you should carry on every trip:
1. Toasting marshmallows is fun but be careful because they are very
hot inside.
2. Let your folks start grills and campfires.
3. Don’t forget... to look both ways when riding your bikes or scooters
around the campground.
4. Always have a grownup with you when you’re near the water.
5. If you get lost in the woods make a lot of noise. STAY IN ONE PLACE.
6. Fireworks and sparklers are exciting but you should only use them with
a grownup
7. Making new friends can be the best part about camping but remember to
ALWAYS... ALWAYS let your folks know where you are.
8. Playgrounds are great but treat things with respect and follow the
safety rules.
9. Animals are cute and fun to watch. But be careful you don’t get too close.
A scared animal could be DANGEROUS.

Please remember that as a camper you are a visitor,
and to some of our wildlife... an intruder.
Please Do Not feed the animals, their survival
depends upon their ability to forage for themselves.
Observe them, enjoy their company, but always
remember that YOU are a visitor in THEIR HOME.
Important Things to Remember
• Do not move firepits
• Do not cut trees or shrubbery
• Obey quiet hours
• Do not set up after quiet hours
• Remember noise travels further in the outdoors
• Keep campsite clean
• Respect your neighbor
• Observe all pet rules
• Teach children campground etiquette
Have Fun & Enjoy The Outdoors
CAMPING ETIQUETTE
FOR PETS
1. Do Not Allow pets to roam
freely around the campground.
2. Do Not Allow pets to go out early in the a.m. to
do their duty on your neighbor’s site or worse
yet on their equipment.
3. Do Not leave pets unattended on your site,
which causes them to bark and whine
disturbing fellow campers.
4. Do pick up after your pet.
5. Do Not Bring pets to beach and pool area.
