Feature Overview
Proofing job output is sometimes performed on a different device than what is used to deliver the final output. This process is
done to save resources and time and can be more convenient if the final output device is unavailable. By using Profile
Inspector, the two device profiles are compared and validated, to determine if one device can accurately simulate the output of
another device. Once you have verified that the simulation is possible, use Device Linker to create a profile that includes the
common color space. This can be used to ensure that both printers deliver the same final color output.

Before you begin

Install and launch Fiery Color Profiler Suite 3.1



Calibrate the Fiery-driven print engine used for this exercise
Note:
Each output device will have different procedures for configuring and printing
the finished document. Consult the user documentation for the copier and Fiery
that will be used in the Demo Script.

Comparing Two Profiles Using Fiery Inspector
1.
Launch Fiery Color Profiler Suite v3.1 and click on the Inspect button
2.
The Fiery Profile Inspector window opens, In the Viewing Profile area, click on the Folder icon, (shown above right,
in red)
3.
The From area, allows you to search: system, local and Fiery Servers for all types of ICC profiles
4.
The Show area, lets you see all color spaces and all profile types
5.
Select your Viewing Profile
Note:
The purpose here is to compare the profile of the legacy printer and the profile
of a different printer that you are trying to match in color output. This exercise is
achieved by completing Steps 7 and 8.

Click on the Plus Sign button

Repeat steps 3 through 5 to open your Comparison Profile
Note:

You can adjust the view of each profile by using the: Plot As dropdown and by
adjusting the Slider bars, below the viewing window. Screen shot above right
shows the Outline optional view.

Create a Common Color Space Profile Using Device Linker
1.
Launch Fiery Color Profiler Suite 3.1 and click on the Device Link button
2.
Click the Match Two Printers button, Click Next

The Fiery Device Linker window opens
4.
Select a Source Profile by clicking on the Folder Icon
5.
Select a Fiery Server
6.
Select Printer 1 Profile by clicking on the Folder Icon
Note:
You can use the pull down function to choose from recently accessed Fiery
Servers, or click the Plus sign to search for additional Fiery Servers.

Select a Fiery Server

Select Printer 2 Profile by clicking on the Folder Icon

Click Next

The Rendering Intent window opens (Shown above left)

Choose Relative Colorimetric from the pull down menu
Note:
You can change to the desired Rendering Intent using the pull down menu.
Notice that choosing Absolute Colorimetric disables the Separation Options
control. If you want to Preserve Black, check the Preserve gray check box.

Click Next

The Save Profile window opens (Shown above right), rename each profile and add any comments, if desired. Click
Next

The Your Profiles have been saved window opens (Shown middle left), Click Exit
Note:

The information shown is: Printer 1: Fiery Server Name, Source Profile and
Destination Profile. Printer 2: Fiery Server Name, Source Profile and Destination
Profile.
Launch Command WorkStation v5. Click the Device Center tab, Resources button, Profiles button. Click the Device
Link Profiles folder icon, you will see your newly-created profile (Shown middle right)

Setup of the Device Link Profile for use
1. In Command WorkStation 5, Select the Device Center tab
2. Click the Color tab
3. In the CMYK/Grayscale area (Shown inside large red area above). Select the Device Link radial button
4. Select the Device Link just created. Confirm the link icon (Shown above within the small red circle)
Note:
It may be necessary to pick the Device Link by choosing the CMYK Source,
and the Output Profile used to create the Device Link.
5. Click OK
6. Exit Job Properties
