HOW TO APPLY FOR FUNDING Project proposals are decided upon once annually by the USA Board of Directors. We need the applications no later than September 15th respectively to be able to include them in this procedure. Who is applying for funding? • Organizations and foundations that are effectively working to fight hunger and eliminate malnutrition around the world • Applications for projects in the USA, Europe and Brazil shall be addressed to the World Nurture Foundation’s (WNF) office in the USA World Nurture Foundation does not support: • Organizations which discriminate, in policy or in practice, on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, physical disability or sexual orientation • Organizations which promote religious beliefs • Individual applicants • Emergency or disaster relief • Lobbying or political campaigns • Land acquisition or construction of new buildings • Programs which address specific disabilities, chronic diseases or conditions Mandatory application formalities: • The application must be related to WNF’s mission. Please consult our website for more information regarding our goal • The proposal must be written in English • There is no official form for the application. Instead there are guidelines (see information attached below) which describe what should be included in a proposal • A front page and a detailed budget must be included. Template documents are provided below • The budget must be in USD If you have not received the confirmation within five days of the deadline, please contact us at [email protected] After the application has been submitted: • The application will be processed by WNF project manager. This includes a dialogue with the organization and clarifications regarding the proposal. The application will also be reviewed by WNF’s USA Board of Directors. • A decision will be available approximately within 3 months after the deadline has passed If the application is approved: • A separate bank account for WNF funding must be available • A final budget complete with a period budget must be submitted to WNF • Contract must be signed before the first installment can be made • The reporting schedule must be followed. This includes 4 financial reports and 2 narrative reports per year • Six months after termination of the project an audit report from an authorized auditor must be submitted • The organization must be open to visits from WNF • WNF expects an open and transparent working environment Applicants: • Applicant may only apply for one year’s funding Send your application by e-mail to: [email protected] For more information please contact: Denise Pentimone, Project Manager [email protected] Please make sure that you receive a confirmation from us!!! Application details In all applications, please fill out this form and add it as the first page on your application! Guidelines for project proposals: World Nurture Foundation has one major deadline for project applications to the World Nurture Foundation, namely 15th of September. World Nurture Foundation does not have a project application form. The purpose of this document is to facilitate the development of a project proposal. The following topics may be included in an application to World Nurture Foundation: • Background: Short history of organization. Does the organization receive support from other sources? Please explain previous and ongoing projects? Please provide us an annual budget • Project background: How and why has the idea of the project been developed? • General information about project: Please provide us information about the area where the project will be developed: population, needs, socio-economic situation, area of implementation, percentage of hunger, other information about hunger in this area, etc. • Information about applicant: Who are the relevant stakeholders? Who will be involved in the project and what are their positions? • Target group: Who is the project intended to reach? Direct and indirect target groups? • Child Participation: How are the hungry children involved in implementation and participation of this project? • Goals/Objectives: Which objectives/results are expected to be reached by the project? Which permanent impacts are hoped for? What is the goal? • Activities: Which concrete activities will take place in order to reach the objectives and goals? • Monitoring and evaluation: How and by whom will the project be monitored? How will the evaluation be done? What are the indicators? Will you have an external or an internal evaluator? • Sustainability: Will there be possibilities of future financing from local authorities or other donors? What will be the long lasting effects of the project? • Costs: A budget that shows all costs needed to develop and carry out the project – salaries, material, equipment, travel, administrative costs etc. The budget should show the total estimated costs, which costs that are covered by other funds, and which funds are requested from WNF • Auditing details: Who audits the organization’s finances? The project/report has to be signed by an authorized person. Please note: A project proposal does not need to be long or very detailed. Please provide explanation to each of above questions. Guidelines for project reports World Nurture Foundation does not have a template for project reports. We do, however, have the following guidelines to help you in writing your narrative as well as your financial report. Narrative Report • Activities: What activities have you implemented? Please explain how many of the target groups were reached by each activity. • Goals and objectives: Have you reached the expected goals and objectives of the project? How have the activities contributed to fulfilling the goals and objectives of the project? • Challenges/Lessons: What challenges have you encountered during the implementation of the project and how did you overcome them? What lessons did you learn that would be valuable for others to hear about? • Sustainability: What have you done to ensure the projects sustainability when WNF support ends? Final report should also include: • What long term effect will the project and its activities have for the target group? • Have the long term goals been fulfilled? What is the lasting impact of the project? Financial report • State measures taken and contacts made to secure the long term financial stability of the project. • Costs: Explain any deviances occurred in the budget. Please note that any deviance of more than 10% must have been approved in advance by WNF. Audit report • An audit report must be submitted six months after the end date of the project. The audit report shall be signed by an authorized auditor The report has to be signed by an authorized person.
