Preview
The following document describes how to implement line utilization measurements, on the various supported
interfaces, using RADCOM’s Performer Online Analysis application.
Most problems you encounter on your line are due to congested networks. By using RADCOM’s Online
Analysis application, you can perform line utilization measurements and immediately indicate the congested
network, saving you time and unnecessary effort.
The measurements are gathered and calculated solely by RADCOM’s exclusive GEAR chip. The supported
rates range between 1.5 Mbps T1 to 2.48 Gbps OC48 (STM16).
The Performer features the following capabilities, enabling line traffic measurements:

Results can be calculated according to the following:
•
o Utilization (percentage of full line rate).
o Bit per second.
o Frame/cell per second.
Saves results and reopens offline utilization measurements.
Using the Online Analysis Application
1. To measure the line utilization perform the following steps:
2. Click the Analysis button
from the Performer Launch bar to open the online Analysis application.
3. In the Setup tab select the following:
a. In the Analysis pane, select the required analysis (see Supported Interfaces below).
b. In the Collecting Data pane: buffer resolution: 1 second
c. The Save History pane enables you to open offline measurements:
i. Select Saving mode: cyclic (recommended, not mandatory).
ii. Define the Duration period required.
4. Click Start.
5. Select the Graph tab.

6. Expand the Field selection as follows:
7. Click the Refresh button (on the bottom left side).

9. Select the required ports (for example, 1-4). At this point you can begin viewing the ports’ traffic
measurements.
10. Select Utilization from the Y-Axis button (on the top of the screen).
Note:
The y-axis represents the actual utilization (in percent) of the theoretical full line rate.
View the results in the following graph:

You can measure the port’s traffic according to the following criteria:
a. Utilization.
b. Bit per second.
c. Frame per second.

The Save History option in the Setup tab enables saving the line utilization measurement results to a file,
which you can then reopen offline.
