Welcome to the Winter 2014-2015 media marketplace!
Greetings,
ATR associées du Québec, the provincial network of regional tourism associations (ATR) and
tourism companies in the different Quebec regions, is delighted to welcome you to the Winter
2014-2015 media marketplace.
This is a very special opportunity to get a preview of what’s on offer across Quebec this winter.
You’re bound to discover plenty of new ideas for fabulous getaways throughout the Belle
Province.
During this media marketplace, the ATR will be offering all kinds of useful details on what’s new
in their regions, some special favourites and media tours for the coming season. Feel free to
ask for help from the regional representatives, who will be happy to give you all the details you
need to keep your readers and listeners informed.
Your excellent coverage helps support the work of the ATR and introduces tourists from

This winter in Bas-Saint-Laurent, we’re active!
During winter, the Bas-Saint-Laurent offers the most beautiful scenery: the ice dancing on the
St-Lawrence River in rhythm with the tides. Our region also provides a wide range of
activities, gatherings and competitions.
Rimouski’s ice will be the stage of one of the seven ice canoe racing from The Circuit
québécois de canot à glace. You are invited to cheer and support the teams coming from all
over the province of Québec, including two teams from the Université du Québec à Rimouski.
The Parc du Mont-Comi will be the host of the 10th edition of the L’Alternative
Snowmission. This great snowboard sporting event is very popular in the region and
welcomes snowboarders for a weekend of sports and entertainment. The Parc du Mont- Comi
will also be hosting the 32th edition of the festival de Télémark, one of the oldest festival of
its kind in Québec.
Three of the most popular winter sports in Québec – snowshoeing, skating and cross- country
skiing – will be featured at the Triathlon d’hiver de Rimouski, which joins the provincial
series of Triathlon Québec. What better place than parc Beauséjour to make this event even
more successful!
The Festival Grimpe en ville invites all rock-climbing enthusiasts to climb the 33 meters of
Rivière-du-Loup waterfalls. The abilities of the climbers on these natural ice walls will
definitely leave you breathless.
Discover the Bas-Saint-Laurent cities and towns from a different perspective following the
1800 kilometres of snowmobile trails. Snowmobilers will be delighted with the quality
accommodations and restaurants close by the secure trails.

Charlevoix – Live it! Love it!

The winter on Côte-Nord | Manicouagan is a paradise for outdoor activities! Whether you

Experience Island Life!
The charm of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine works in every season! Our major winter activity will take
place from February 26 to March 12, 2015. The Seals observation Tour is a unique experience!
It allows you to see harp seals in their natural habitat on the ice that surrounds the islands. A

In the frozen depths of winter, nomadic harp seals begin their southward migration. Every year,
the females return to the Magdalen Islands to calve on the vast ice fields surrounding the

Great celebrations and new activities – fall 2014 and winter 2015
Laval celebrates its 50th birthday!
This year, the Corporation des célébrations 2015 à Laval promises to dazzle everyone with the celebrations of the
city’s half-century anniversary that will feature a unique program representative of the island’s rich history and
heritage. Throughout the year, the celebrations’ official spokesperson Philippe Bond will invite people to events they
will long remember. It’s with glitter and style that Laval will write this new chapter of its history! The festivities will
begin with a big celebration event on December 31st. Sainte-Rose en Blanc, Laval’s popular winter event – that has
been taking place for more than 10 years – will become Laval en Blanc for the occasion and extend to other
locations across Île-Jésus during the whole month of February 2015. These 50th anniversary celebrations would not
have been complete without the participation of Laval’s Symphony Orchestra. Audiences are invited to attend the
Soirées champêtres avec l’OSL, a series of classical music concerts, and discover or rediscover some of the most
beautiful rural and bucolic sites of the region.
Two Attractions, Two 20-Year Celebrations!
In 1994, American astronaut Alan Shepard who attended the Cosmodôme’s official opening had said at the time that
it was the best space camp ever in the whole world. Twenty years later, the Cosmodôme’s international reputation
still prevails. This iconic attraction of the Laval’s region invites those with a passion for the cosmos to demystify the
outer space by becoming an astronaut the time of an interactive virtual space mission.
Armand-Frappier Museum, another important museum of Laval, will also celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. In
addition to its regular programming, the museum will host two important citizen science events during which
renowned scientists and doctors will engage in a discussion with the public about key human health issues. Maladies
chroniques et du vieillissement : que pouvons-nous faire ? et Quand les changements climatiques menacent la santé
humaine (in French only). The weekend workshops (in French only) continue with Les samedis au labo for the young
scientists of 5 to 8 years old. To popular demand, Les dimanches en sarraus for youth 9 to 12 years old were added
to the program.
A New Attraction in Laval: A Flight Simulation Centre
On October 24, Aerosim Expérience will open its doors in Laval. Apprentice pilots will have the opportunity to fly a
Boeing 737 New Generation airliner and live moments that only professionals had experienced until now. Two
passionate French pilots had the idea of creating AeroSim Experience. Enthusiasts of all ages and all levels can live
this unique experience under the supervision of a professional flight instructor. They will be able to fine-tune their
abilities by choosing among 24 000 airports, including the St. Martin’s Island airport known for its epic landing
runways just over the beach.
