Job Title: Product Manager (Tax)

Main Purpose of the Position
Responsible for ensuring success of the product
Ross Saunders – Product Programme Manager
The product manager drives the product direction and process in order to deliver on and fulfil the
identified opportunities. Through collaborated efforts with the various business units, the product
manager will ensure that a world class product is delivered, and continuously innovated in order to
optimise the way in which our clients are able to carry out their core function.
Key Deliverables and Weighting


Revenue Generation – Responsible for the profit and loss of the product
o
Ensure delivery is on time every time
o
Own and produce roadmaps and release schedules
o
Manage the overall brand of the product
o
Ensure the product receives positive take-up on launch
o
Ensure alignment with company strategy and the programme mandate
Product Documentation
o
Adherence to both internal and external documentation standards
o
Ensure the documentation across the product is consistent, complete and
professional





Know the product inside and out
o
Enable the sales, services and support teams

Provide feedback to development teams

Act as a bridge between departments

Ensure marketing collateral effectively reflects the product
Discovery of Needs
o
Obtain feedback from the market
o
Manage priorities and the applicability of enhancements for PAB review
o
Have a strong customer presence where required
o
Ensure product relevance and compliance in the market
o
Ensure that the product is adopted and used successfully by customers
o
Maintain an ethical understanding of the competition
User Experience (UX) and Customer Experience (CX)
o
Ensure the product as a whole is consistent, professional and easy to operate
o
Experience the product from the customer’s point of view
o
Gain insight on what we should be doing differently
o
Drive consideration of the customer’s point of view within the development team
o
Manage defects and the quality assurance process
Act as a leader within the company

Must be IT/Technically inclined
Background in software engineering and SDLC beneficial
Understanding and exposure to ACL software would be beneficial
Understanding and exposure to different ERP packages would be beneficial
Understanding of Internal Auditing would be beneficial

Education and Qualification



BCom Business Management, Accounting or similar
PrinceII or similar project management certification
Product management certification desirable







3+ years working experience in similar field
1+ years working in a product management role desirable
Detailed understanding of South African Taxation essential
SDLC/PDLC experience desirable
Very strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and cross-functional
teams, and third parties
Experience in building and releasing a product beneficial
Computer Skills and Knowledge


Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Visio and Project
Understanding of ACL software an advantage
Working Environment & Travel


Extremely busy office environment with a great deal of team work
This position is office based but some ad hoc travel will be required
Working hours
08h30 – 17h00, overtime required when necessary. Punctuality is important.

The ideal candidate should have an extremely good understanding of, and experience within, the
finance domain, along with creative flair and initiative. Attention to detail is of utmost importance.
