Manual Flash Point Testers
Adjustable heater provides excellent accuracy
Pensky-Martens Closed-Cup Flash Testers are used to determine the flash point of fuels, lubricating oils,
liquids containing suspended solids, and liquids that tend to form a surface film during testing. They
feature a cover that slides the shutter open to apply test flame. Select from electrical or gas heated models.
Electrical models are equipped with a 750 watt nickel-chromium heater. Gas models have a built-in nickelplated brass natural gas burner and liquid propane burner mounted on a cast iron base. Testers include a
thermometer holder, brass test cup with handle, pilot flame, test flame reference bead, built-in stirrer, plated
brass thermometer ferrule, and cooling vents. Order stirrer motor separately below.
Tag Closed-Cup Flash Testers are used to determine the flash point of liquids with viscosity below 5.5 cSt
at 104°F (40°C) or below 9.5 cSt at 77°F (25°C), and flash point below 200°F (93°C) except cut-back asphalts,
liquids that form a surface film under test conditions, and materials that contain suspended solids. They
feature a bath and cover made of plated brass; heater is enclosed in a cast aluminum base assembly. Testers
include brass test cup, plated brass thermometer ferrules, and test flame reference bead.
Cleveland Open-Cup Flash Tester are ideal for measuring flash and fire points of all petroleum products,
except fuel oils and those having an open cup flash below 175°F (79°C). They feature a thermometer
support that raises for easy placement and removal of test cup. Heater is enclosed in a stainless steel
housing with cooling vents. Tester includes test flame applicator, thermometer support, brass test cup,
and heating plate.
Tag Open-Cup Flash Testers determine the flash and fire points of liquids up to 325°F (163°C) and flash
points of cutback asphalts at less than 200°F (93°C). They include sample test cup, plated brass liquid bath
with constant level overflow, pivoting ignition taper with pilot light, reference bead, and pivoting thermometer
holder with cast aluminum base.

Improve safety, accuracy, and productivity
of flash point testing
Replace the thermometer in flash point testers with this simpleto-use device. It frees the operator for other tasks during the timeconsuming initial heating period and provides a digital sample
temperature reading. This unit displays sample temperature as
it rises and activates an audible and visible alarm when it’s time
to apply the test flame. A low alarm signals the operator to apply
the test flame; the high alarm indicates that the temperature is
too high to begin testing and automatically disconnects power
to the test apparatus. Temperature is displayed in °F or °C, with
resolution of 1°F (0.5°C). When flash occurs, the temperature
display can be frozen, and the value recorded later.

Manual Penetrometer
Compact design and rugged construction for long service life and field applications—also
suitable for laboratory use. Adjustable head assembly on this manual penetrometer allows
accurate placement of the tip of a needle or cone on the surface of the sample. Sturdy cast
iron base provides excellent support. Built-in spirit level and leveling screws ensure
proper alignment during testing. Order cones, needles, and plungers separately below.

Microprocessor-Based Digital Penetrometer
Programmable tip placement and manual fine adjustment ensure accurate results.
Versatility and ease of use characterize this microprocessor-controlled penetrometer. Select
a standard scale or program alternative measurements with 0.01 mm resolution. Program
intervals of up to 9999.9 seconds in 0.1 second intervals or use the ASTM standard default
interval of 5.0 seconds. The interval you select repeats automatically until changed. Output
sample number, interval, and penetration depth to your computer or printer.

testing. Removable base—install head assembly onto bath or bench for irregular cup sizes.
Four programmable presets automatically lower the tip to the sample. Fine adjustment
button allows slight manual adjustments as needed. Coarse and fine controls, flex-mount
magnifier, and illuminator arm permit full manual operation for precise tip placement on
irregular samples. Express button returns head to raised position. Built-in 12 V rechargeable
battery allows field use and preserves data when AC power is interrupted. Order penetrometer

Observe temperatures of samples when evaporated and condensed under controlled conditions
Conforms to ASTM D86, D285, and related international specifications. Distillation system
evaporates and condenses samples under controlled conditions, for observation of the
temperatures at which various percentages are recovered, and/or the percentages recovered at
specified temperatures. Units have a 13.2 cu ft capacity, and measure 151⁄4"L x 181⁄4"W x 191⁄2"H.
Front View Distillation Apparatus (Groups 0, 1, 2, and 3) is designed for testing motor and
aviation gasolines, aviation turbine fuels, napthas, kerosenes, distillate fuels, natural gasoline,
liquid hydrocarbon mixtures, and other petroleum products. Features a 1000 W heater with
