Datasheet aviftech.com/USB429 USB429 Advanced Four, Eight, or 16 Channel ARINC 429 Test & Simulation USB Module GENERAL OVERVIEW AIT’s USB429 is a rugged, reliable, fullfeatured module designed to provide a stand-alone ARINC 429 interface for avionics applications. Up to 16 channels are supported, each can be individually configured to Transmit (Tx) or Receive (Rx) and to operate at the high or low bit rates defined by ARINC 429. The USB429 offers test, simulation, monitoring, and databus analyzer functions. On Transmit (Tx) channels, the USB429 acts as an autonomously operating bus traffic simulator supporting multiple modes of transmission sequencing, including label rateoriented, scheduled, and acyclic transmissions. Full error injection capabilities are available, whereby the error injection is programmable individually for each channel and label. For the Receive (Rx) channels, the USB429 provides an advanced monitor and analyzer function with unique onboard error detection, triggering, and filtering capabilities. The minimum and the maximum data time can be individually controlled, with +/- 8 nS accuracy for each receive channel. The Transmit and Receive functions are available concurrently and independent from each other. The hardware architecture provides resources to guarantee that the performance of one function is not affected by the current load of the other function. The USB429 module operates with the Flight Simulyzer Databus Graphical User Interface (GUI) Analyzer Software. KEY FEATURES w Four, Eight, or 16 Software Programmable Tx/Rx Channels w Programmable High/Low Speed Operation w All Tx/Rx Channels can operate concurrently at High Speed rates w Full Error Injection and Detection w Rate-oriented Label Transmission w Label Selective Trigger for Capture/Filtering w IRIG-B Time Code Encoder/Decoder for Data Correlation w Real-Time Recording and Post Analysis of Multiple Channels w Application Interface supporting C++, C#, and .net Development w Flight Simulyzer ARINC 429 Analyzer Software SOFTWARE SUPPORT AIT’s USB429 is delivered with AIT’s ARINC429 Software Development Kit (SDK). The SDK provides multiple application interfaces including support for C/C++, C#, and VB.NET. High-level LabVIEW Virtual Instruments (VI) are provided with each module in support of intuitive application development. A simple soft front panel GUI application is also delivered with each module. The ARINC 429 SDK optionally includes AIT’s Flight Simulyzer analyzer software. Users can program bit transmission rates and duty cycles beyond the fixed 12.5 and/or 100 kbits/sec, and each channel can be set individually. Associated rise and fall times are in accordance with the ARINC 429 electrical specification. w Rate-oriented, block, and acyclic label transmission modes support all simulation needs w Error injection for each label transfer: short gap, parity, bit count, coding w Programmable gap between labels aviftech.com/PXI-C429 IRIG-B TIME CODE ENCODER/DECODER An onboard IRIG-B time code encoder and decoder allows synchronization of ARINC 429 bus traffic using single or multiple USB429 modules and synchronized time tagging of multiple ARINC 429 channels. APPLICATION INTERFACE Modules are supplied with AIT's ARINC 429 Object Wrapper Layer (OWL) C/C++ interface library to support user written applications. The OWL provides an intuitive and easy-to-use object-oriented interface to the card. Adaptations supporting C#, Python, and other common programming languages are available upon request. A rich suite of sample applications and full documentation is also provided.
