The product presentation is one of the most exciting, powerful and memorable
merchandising tools you have. All the facts you tell clients about the eSpring™ Water
Treatment System cannot match the impact of actually seeing the system during
performance. A properly executed presentation not only demonstrates the product’s
capabilities and answers client questions — it also demonstrates your professionalism as
a salesperson. This means it is absolutely essential that every demonstration is properly
conducted. So practice your presentations regularly and make sure you follow this
checklist for every demonstration.
2 | Amway Demonstration Sheet
• Only use cold water that has been treated by a municipal water supply. NEVER USE
HOT WATER!
• Use only the "contaminants” listed in the following instructions. Other materials may
damage the unit or pose a potential hazard.
• Filters used in demonstrations may have to be replaced more frequently than normal.
This is because contaminant levels in demonstrations are much higher than those
encountered in normal operation, which reduces filter life.
• Before each presentation, check the colour and flow rate of the water coming out of
the filter. If either is unacceptable, replace the filter.
• Before using a new filter in a demonstration, flush the filter for 5–10 minutes, then let it
soak inside the housing for several hours. This ensures the filter will function properly.
If this is not done, excess carbon particles may appear in the treated water.
• Units used for demonstrations (except the turbidity demonstration) should not be used
for drinking water until a new filter has been installed.
• Do not combine the additives used in demonstrations. This may lead to unsuccessful
results and/or shortened filter life.

This eSpring™ demonstration shows you that what you see is not always what you get
when it comes to clean, clear, high-quality drinking water.
Materials N ee d e d
• 3 clear glasses
• 1 tbsp. of dirt or soil
• 1 tbsp. of white vinegar
• Tap water
4 | Amway Demonstration Sheet
INSTRUCTION
Prep Time: about 2 mins. Demo Time: about 5–10 mins.
Preparation:
Fill three clear glasses with tap water. Add dirt or soil to the first glass of water and stir.
Add vinegar to the second glass of water and stir. Leave the third glass of water as it is.
Demonstration:
1. Hold the dirty glass of water up to the participant and ask if they would drink it.
They will decline based on the appearance of the water.
2. Hold the glass of vinegar water up to the participant and ask if it looks like water that
they would drink. They will likely say, “Yes.” Then encourage them to smell the contents
and ask again whether they would drink the water. They will decline based on its odour.
3. Let the participant examine and smell the glass of plain tap water. Then ask if they
would drink the water. They may be hesitant based on Step 2, but they will likely agree
that it is drinkable when you reassure them that it is water from a regular kitchen tap.
4. Show the participant the contaminants list on the last page of this demo. Explain
to them that these items may be found in plain tap water – hidden from view, smell,
and taste.

K ey T ake - A way
Just because water looks, smells, or even tastes good to drink doesn't mean that it
always is. Even industrialised countries with a good water infrastructure can have issues
in which household tap water becomes contaminated by a variety of chemicals and
microorganisms. Let the eSpring™ Water Treatment System be a protective barrier
against this concern for your household and family.
P r o d u ct I nf o r m ati o n
The eSpring™ systems are the world’s largest selling brand of home water treatment
systems*. It’s been proven that they provide higher or better water quality than tap
water. In addition to improving taste, odour and clarity, an eSpring™ system reduces
145 potential health-effect contaminants that may be present in drinking water. No
other system is documented to effectively reduce as wide a range of contaminants as
eSpring™.
The eSpring™ UV Water Treatment System features carbon-filter technology, which
means that both units effectively reduce:
• Lead, mercury, MTBE, and 42 known and/or suspected endocrine disruptors
• More than 140 organic impurities
• 13 disinfection by-products
• Radon and radon decay by-products
• 33 pesticides and pesticide by-products
• 9 pharmaceutical contaminants
• Down to 0.2 microns including asbestos, sediment, dirt and scale
• Waterborne parasites that can cause disease i.e. Giardia, Cryptosporidium
• Suspected cancer causing substances (carcinogens) potentially present in water
And, with improving the quality of water, the eSpringTM UV Water Treatment System does
not remove beneficial minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, and fluoride.
An eSpringTM Water Treatment System
effectively reduces more than 160 potential
contaminants that may be present in
drinking water, of which 145 are health
effecting contaminants.

Most people easily relate to the taste and
odour of chlorine in their water. Therefore,
chlorine provides a good demonstration
of the eSpring™
Water Treatment
System’s ability to effectively remove it
from water. If your water contains notable
amounts of chlorine, you may use it in the
demonstration. If your water contains little
or no chlorine, you must add chlorine for
the demonstration.
M AT E R I A L S N E E D E D :
• Chlorine Demonstration Tablets (Maybe purchased at your local
swimming pool supply store.)
• 6–8 large water glasses
• Small spoon
• Measuring cup
• 1/2 litre container
• 1 bottle of Ortho-tolidine (OTO) solution, or DPD tablets. (Both
of these materials are available at swimming pool supply stores.)
CAUTION:
AVOID ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OF OTO OR DPD. THESE MATERIALS MAY
BE HEALTH HAZARDS IF INGESTED. DISPOSE OF THESE TEST SOLUTIONS
IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE AND RINSE THE CONTAINERS.
8 | Amway Demonstration Sheet
I nstr u cti o ns :
1. Attach the eSpring™ Water Treatment System to the tap to be tested. Fill a glass with
untreated water. Add about 3 drops of the OTO solution, or one DPD tablet. If chlorine
is present in the water, OTO will become yellow and DPD will give the water a pink
tint. If your water has chlorine in it, set the glass aside and go to Step 7. If no colour
develops, you must proceed to Step 2 to add chlorine to the water.
2.Using a measuring cup, add about 300 ml of cold water into the 1/2 litre container.
Add Chlorine demonstration tablets and mix.
3.
Turn the diverter valve to the treated water setting and flush the system for about
30 seconds.
4.
Pour about 25 ml of the chlorine solution into a glass and fill the glass with tap water
and set aside. This represents the untreated water.
5.
Make sure the water is off and stand the eSpring™ Water Treatment System on end.
Remove the pressure vessel cap. Holding the filter to prevent it from falling out, tip the
unit and pour the water from the unit.
6.
Pour the container of remaining chlorine solution into the pressure vessel.
7.
Replace the pressure cap and the housing cap.
8.
Turn the System over and stand it on end.
9.
Turn the diverter valve to the treated water setting to start water flowing through
the system.
10.Fill the unused glasses with the treated water and place them in a row on the counter
as they are filled.
11.Add OTO or DPD to the glasses of untreated water to test for chlorine. The untreated
water will have colour, indicating chlorine. The treated water will be clear, demonstrating
that the chlorine has been removed. This shows that the eSpring™ Water Treatment
System removes chlorine to improve the taste and smell of drinking water.
NOTE:
After a few minutes, DPD may develop a light pink colour although no chlorine is
present. This is caused by compounds called chloramines which may occur in some
water. The eSpring™ Water Treatment System removes most of the chloramines,
but traces may not be removed. Over time, these traces may cause the DPD to
change colour. To avoid confusion about colour formation, pour the solution
out of the glass after a few minutes.

Looking at the back of the tap and stand, the pump
will be connected to the cold water tap connection.
The taps cold water handle will need to be open when
the pump is running and water is flowing. If there is a
hand sprayer attachment, this will need to be detached
and the connection plugged. The hot water connection
will also need to be plugged.
Connect the water pump to the cold water tap with a
piece of tubing. The tubing length must be long enough
to connect to the pump when it is inside the water tank
or aquarium.

It may be necessary to add more food colouring during
the demonstration. The water treatment system will be
removing the colour and after time the tank water will
lighten and eventually become clear. Make sure that
you do not add too much dye because it will reduce
the life of the filter.
