Saint Barnabas Bulletin Board for 12th October 2014
The Altar Flowers, and the Sanctuary Candle in honour of the Real Objective Presence of the Body and Blood of Our
Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, are given to the glory of God; and by Angela McFall and Sherrod Gates Patterson on the
occasion of their 25 anniversary.
We are thrilled to announce the birth of Caelin Meredith Lee Anne Jones, son of Bishop Chad and Megan Jones, born
Thursday 9th October 2014, at 1:20 PM. Congratulations to the Jones family and God bless you!
Upcoming Special Events








Adult Confirmation Class for the new season begins today, Sunday 12th October, at 1.30pm and will meet on
Sunday afternoons; Youth Confirmation Class will be held concurrently at 1.30pm on Sunday afternoons,
beginning today.
The Youth Group will meet after the 11am service on Sunday 12th October.
The Men's Group meets on Wednesday 15th October at 6.30pm.
Holy Communion will be celebrated on Saturday 18th October at Noon for the Feast of Saint Luke the Evangelist.
The monthly Vestry meeting will be held on Tuesday 21st October at 6.30pm.
The Youth Group will enjoy a Halloween Party on Saturday 25th October.
A student-sponsored bake sale on behalf of “Shop with an Indian” will be held on Sunday 26th October.
The event is to raise money to purchase gifts and necessities for children in low income families for
Christmas.
Holy Communion will be celebrated for the Feast of Saints Simon and Jude, Apostles, on Tuesday 28th October at
Noon.
Recurring Events




Adult Sunday School meets weekly at 10.15am.
The Wednesday Bible Study is studying the Book of the Prophet Ezekiel. The class is held each week at 11am.
Christian Faith Class meets each Thursday at 7.45pm, following the 7pm Eucharist.
Holy Communion is celebrated each Wednesday at Noon, each Thursday at 7pm, and each Friday at Noon.
Special Announcements




We welcome Ms. Marilyn Oakes this morning as our Guest Organist.
The Rector and Curate will attend the triennial Provincial Synod of the Anglican Province of America in Belleville,
Illinois from 13th to 17th October: our usual services and classes will be cancelled this week. The office will be
closed Friday, October 17.
The October edition of the St. Barnabas Journal is now available in the Narthex.
We are pleased to host a Dunwoody Home School Group art class each Wednesday from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
The class is provided by Out of the Box Art Studio (outoftheboxartstudio.com) which provides such services to many
home school groups in the metro Atlanta area.
Become a St. Barnabas Barista! Team members set up coffee and refreshments before the first service,
refresh the coffee and snacks between services, or help with the clean-up after the late service. Your help
before the first service is especially needed, but help between services and after the late service would be
greatly appreciated, too. The benefits (perks) include taste-testing the first coffee of the morning,
overseeing the artistic layout of the refreshments, making new friends and receiving a sterling
recommendation, should you decide to move up the barista ladder and apply to Starbuck or Caribou
Coffee. The work schedule is light and on-the-job training is provided. Male baristas are welcome, too!

 Important Reminders

Adult Sunday School meets weekly at 10.15am; Children's Sunday School meets weekly during the 11am service.
Children are dismissed before the sermon. Please remember the children return to their families in the pew following
their blessing at the Altar rail during the Eucharist.





We ask please that parents and guardians monitor their children in the Church during the Liturgy; most
especially, let us please refrain from having children tread loudly upon the air registers/vents on the side aisle floors.
